Chat GPT AI says: Spirulina does contain an amino acid called phenylalanine, which is an essential amino acid that the body needs for normal functioning. However, in certain individuals with a rare genetic disorder called phenylketonuria (PKU), the body cannot metabolize phenylalanine properly, leading to its accumulation in the blood. For individuals with PKU, consuming foods high in phenylalanine, including spirulina, can be harmful and may cause neurological problems.
For the general population without PKU, the consumption of spirulina is considered safe and does not pose a neurotoxic risk. In fact, spirulina has been studied for its potential neuroprotective effects due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It has shown promising results in animal studies for conditions like Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
As always, if you have any concerns or specific health conditions, it is best to consult with a healthcare professional before adding any new supplements to your diet.

B12 absorption was covered in my nutrition course. It seems that the intrinsic factor (one of B12 carrier proteins) is saturated for about 4 hours after consumption of food containing B12 or its analogues. If you take daily B12 supplement, just take it in the morning on the empty stomach. I am personally staying away from spirulina due to a contamination risk. I only use California grown spirulina. Sometimes I take Hawaii. Don't have any reactions or side effects. Not sure how accurate this is. Saying that I would not go out and buy any Spirulina. Ensure it comes from a good source. Chlorella can be contaminated with heavy metals if you don't get a good source. I don't think people need to avoid Spirulina if you don't have an allergic reaction to it or buy it from a well tested source.

Yes they suggest to take spirulina seperately or by itself. Don't combine with any B12 supplement. A doctor said (I think his name is Axe here on CZcams), it's best to consume it in the morning preferably with smoothies or water/juice. Try to lower the dosage recommended by the brand. And always remember, anything too little or too excessive would harm you in some ways. So do it in moderation after a balanced diet.
And for the products manufactured in Japan? Errr I prefer not to eat their sea's stuff as the contamination is high there not to mention the latest Uranium explosion.
