When the pope visited Ireland .i was working stoped at the traffic lights at the exit from Dublin Airport. The pope mobile exited from the left I was 50 meters from his car and could see clearly this was a magic moment for me. My family visited Poland for a Family wedding in the 90s .My wife and I decided to visit were pope Paul John Paul was born .this was magic for us Both of these Popes have touched my soul Thank you .

I think Salma didn't mean anything negative, she was simply overjoyed by the experience of being able to meet the Pope and have a good conversation with him. It wasn't her intention to compare Popes from each other. Let's spare her the criticism. I am personally happy for her and proud that the Catholic Church has great leaders, appointed by the Lord. I find the whole tendency to compare one person to another to be in poor taste. Why do people choose to rate a religious leader as "better" or "worse" than another? Sure, we each have opinions, but I don't like saying that this person was better than that one and so on. I don't know what such attestations accomplish; give the man adulation if you want to, but please don't do it at the expense of others. Just my take…
I think she just said it because its the first Pope from Latin America. She's Mexican, speaks Spanish...and for a long time its always been an European. So obviously she would say otherwise now that its a Pope whom she can relate on a very personal level, especially as a Catholic with Latin American roots.

Pope Francis has impressed many people. Salma just wants to give credit where credit is due. It also raises the standards of others that come after him. That’s not a bad thing.

Humanity is going through hard times, you write? Well, sure, but rather focus on the Church going through hard times - and there is a reason for that.
Look for example at the attendance at Saint Peter's Square in Rome: never before so few people take the effort to come and hear what PF has to say. Look for example at the amount of views on CZcams videos in which PF speaks: the numbers are incredibly low. Nobody cares anymore what our Pope says, for he speaks either in a relativistic manner or in an ambiguous manner or about side issues. Almost nobody I know cares for Jesus and the Gospel and the Church anymore, for the simple reason that these are not preached: people do not have a clue. In my opinion this pope might be the very worst in the entire history of the Church. The Church falls apart all around us: only a blind man cannot see that. Hardly anyone I know still cares for Truth, for Truth is not preached, but rather persecuted.

I didn’t understand what she was saying but if she really said that this pope is the best ever, then i don’t think it is a reliable statement because one has to remember St Peter is among these popes and all the saints including JPII. Benedict was a great pope. In fact i don’t think we should judge or assess popes. We should rather pray for them. There is no contest among the children of God, each one is special in his own way.

He is the best Pope... so many Popes had very little to do with the teachings of Jesus... this Pope has compassion and the courage to implement compassion and to inspire others to do the same. He would not care however whether he was considered the best pope.
