I love his comment - "You can criticize a country's govt. . . . but not a people," as a way of avoiding being anti-Palestinian or anti-Jewish. He also exhorts us not to be "hard-hearted" and "indifferent" like Pontius Pilate and try to wash our hands of the wrongs we see happening. This is a pope of exemplary courage and caring!

I don't think Pontius Pilate is the best example of the point. Pilate saw no guilt in Jesus, but the Jews insisted so he made them make the choice. Of course this was God's Will being carried out as the Jews accepted having Christs blood not only on their hands but their childrens as well. Pilate could have done more but it wasn't Gods Will, as Jesus said, if His Father wanted to exact justice He could send legions of Angels to defend Him. I note well that when Jesus told him he was sent to testify to the truth, Pilates question: "What is truth?" Jesus did not say a word and did not answer his question. The silence is 'deafening'. As St. Paul preached so forcefully: "God is not mocked." Amen. +

Pope Francis is asked ridiculously cornering questions, cut off before finishing his statements, and poorly restated by the interviewer. In I Corinthians 16:1-2, we read: “Now concerning the collections that are made for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, so do ye also. On the first day of the week let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him.”

      Colossians 2:16 EXPLAINED!!!
      To understand Colossians 2:16,
I think we should first get a little more context on the verse.
      Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
      Colossians 2:14 speaks of:
      -Handwriting
      -Ordinances
      -Contrary & Against us!!!
      👆🏽This sure doesn’t sound like
God’s Ten Commandments written on stone tablets with the Finger of GOD!
      God’s Law is PERFECT!!!
      👉(Psalm 19:7)
      God’s Law is forever!
      👉(Luke 16:17)
The 10 Commandments is NEVER referred to as “ordinances” in the Holy Bible!
      The Law of Moses
      👉was written with HANDWRITING!
      👉did contain ORDINANCES!
👉 was CONTRARY & AGAINST us!!!
👆🏽This was just for a little more context
      (Colossians 2:16 😃Great question! )
There's TWO different Sabbaths in the Holy Bible.
      1) The WEEKLY 7th day sabbath
      Established at creation (Genesis 2:2,3)
      Commanded in God's Law(Exo.20:8-11)
An eternal law for all mankind!
      2) The 7 ANNUAL feast sabbaths
Found in the "Law of Moses"
(Leviticus Ch.23) a temporary law commanded for ancient Israel.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moons, or of the sabbath days.
      ~ Colossians 2:16
      ▪️MEAT = Sacrificing animals
      ▪️DRINK = Drink offerings
▪️HOLYDAY = feast days were also called "holyday"
▪️NEW MOONS = the feast days fell according to the new moons cycle.
▪️SABBATHS = the feast days were also called "sabbaths" regardless of the day of the week it might have fallen on.
      (Col.2:16)
      is obviously speaking of the
      "Feast Sabbaths" found in the:
      👉Law of Moses.
Now if a "Feast Sabbath" happen to fall on the "Weekly Sabbath" then this was called a: HIGH SABBATH!
      👉(John 19:31)
For more info on the feast sabbaths
      READ 👉(Leviticus Ch.23)

Please know the church accepts all people. Anyone can walk into church.
But don’t ask for approval on the way you live life? If you think you are living life how you should, why seek approval unless you are doing something wrong? Ppl don’t go to church to seek approval. When you go to mass, while it is a celebration you are walking at calvary. You are telling the Lord your sins - you are repenting, and ready to be made a anew by receiving the Holy Eucharist where you receive the Holy Spirit.
So now that you know you can go to mass what do ppl mean by “Church must accept all…like gay and abortion”. Sounds like seeking approval at all cost when the stance is “no same sex marriage” and “prolife”.
But even when you aren’t these things, you can still go to church. The doors are never close. Even sinners go to church and that includes everyone.
But to receive Holy communion you must receive the sacraments and confess your sins. Don’t expect to receive sacraments for marriage when you know God does not approve. But even when you sin, God loves you like a mother would love a child. God loves all, what is love? Love is staying quiet when you want to yell. Love is loving the other without possession. Love is being tempted by sin and not acting upon it.
The church does so much for women who have gone through abortions, and regret or are scarred by it. So if something is so right, like abortion - why do some women become traumatized and seek shelter in “women’s houses”?
God does not leave anyone behind, ppl leave God behind. We hear to often “Walk with Christ”, when in reality Christ is dying to walk with you, while you are running away.
So if you are gay, you are pro- abortion go to church with an open mind. Funny, when ppl blame the church for being closed minded. So walk what you preach and go with an open mind, listen to the Word. Keep the sabbath Holy, that is the first step, out of a bazillion things you have yet to know and learn.

Thank you for this interview. I realize Pope Francis is in a uniquely difficult situation; much has been said both about how progressive he is or how much more he really needs to be, but while he must continue to push hard to reform Catholicism, too quick of a shift from tradition would cause backlash from those within the church, some of whom are already questioning and opposing some of Francis's decisions, despite papal infallibility being a core dogma of the church. Here's hoping he continues to push for positive change in ways that lead to genuine reform for an institution that absolutely needs it.

      @rickgrinstead5732 Před 12 dny +4

You didn't hurt my feeling, brother, but please allow me to explain. The Catholic Church and the Pope are not perfect, and never will be. God uses imperfect people to accomplish his will. If you know the Bible, you know this is true. However, the Catholic Church is the only Church having authority to teach or act in Christ's name. Ordained Catholic clergy, including the Pope, are said "To act in persona christi", to represent Christ’s person. This is what God wanted. read Matt 16:18-19. Here, Jesus gave authority to Peter and all his successors. He did not give authority to anyone who picks up a Bible and reads it. This is why, since the Protestant revolution, we now have over 50,000 different churches who all claim to have the true interpretation of scriptures. And, it has become very confusion for some people. In my own personal life, I can honestly say I have never felt as close to following Christ as I have since I began devoutly following the teachings and precepts of the Catholic Church. And, I encourage all to do your own due diligence and try to understand what the Church teaches, why, and where it can be found in scripture. You won't be disappointed, and if you come home to the Church, you will feel closer to God and his son Jesus Christ than you could ever imagine. God Bless...

Pope Francis has not been silent about the war in Ukraine. He has condemned this war and called for stopping it immediately. He has attempted a peace mission.
Yet, it is broadly expected that the Pope of Rome should be acting first and foremost as the spiritual leader and teacher.
Regrettably, I have to express my opinion that
    - Pope Francis, as the spiritual leader and teacher, has never publicly expressed his views about the Moscow Patriarchate's attempts to provide religious inspiration and justification not only for the war in Ukraine, but for the Russian authorities' nationalistic aggressive ideas of "spiritual" supremacy of Russia and its "holy" role in the modern world as a "defender" of Christianity and "traditional" values, "Russian world", and so on.
    - Pope Francis, as the spiritual leader and teacher, has never publicly offered his vision on the spiritual position of the Moscow’s Patriarch blessing a murderous war, elevating it to the status of a crusade and preaching presumed forgiveness of personal sins of all the Russian soldiers involved in this war.
    - Pope Francis, as the spiritual leader and teacher, has never publicly offered a spiritual teaching on the incompatibility of Christianity and nationalism as it specifically applies to the war in Ukraine and current nationalistic tendencies in the world.
My belief is that it is vitally essential. From this perspective, it is hard to appreciate and accept the lack of Pope Francis' spiritual reaction to such a challenge and its replacement by a public stance regarding political aspects, in which the Pope Francis’ competence looks doubtful.
    Sincerely, bishop Vincent Berg.

Genesis 1:30-31 God made everything Good. So u don’t know the Bible. Obviously because of the fall sin has tainted us but initially nature of all men where is good because we were made in the image of God

TBH in my 43 years I have not paid very much attention to the Popes, until when Pope Francis began standing up for compassion and acceptance for all, because it is not his place to judge, only let Gods love and compassion flow through him.
His openness on these is courageous and inspiring, as a leader in these modern times should be.
“We have to get our hearts to feel again…the globalization of indifference is an ugly disease.” 💯
