I love IT, this music IS so natural, funny, enjoyable, with true characters of man and woman. Mirroring and contrast. Pure Mozart, a joy to live and loving of life.
It's actually a German turn of phrase impossible to translate satisfyingly. "your eye will cease to be" or "you eye will no longer exist" maybe something like that, but it's a much more lively expression in German, and not as graphic and ugly as "i'll scratch your eyes out"
@@topophil My translation would be "The story of your eyes is finished, if you don't go away and quit bothering me!" Or maybe "It's all over with your eyes, if you don't leave me alone!"
Josef Greindl & Rita Streich are just as good in my opinion. But the best version by far is József Gregor & Magda Kalmár. Unfortunately I don’t understand Hungarian.
Best Osmin of all time.. R.I.P Kurt Moll!

I love this Opera from Mozart also the Magic Flute.. The best Music Art in his time - it never dies.
An iconic duet, that I will love forever! Two wonderful voices, two wonderful artists!
A wonderful duet! Moll was a true singing actor (as opposed to an acting singer); splendid, both of them!
Kurt Moll Again !! The man of 100% Perfection
“i’ll scratch your eyes out, i’ll scratch your eyes out” best line ever written

Mozart was inspired to write this duet after he watched an episode of “The Honeymooners”
Ralph Kramden and Alice
That laugh at the end.. lol
I love it when the audience laughs at her saying "I am an englishwoman born into freedom" as if they are mocking her ;)
