It's good that the Philippines is doing this. However, the Philippines has very large arrears and limited financial resources. It is very important that the actions of Filipinos are rational.

Great material. The interests of Japan and the Philippines are convergent. You're right, new patrol ships for the Philippine Coast Guard are essential. Japan declares that it is ready to provide weapons to allies in the region, even free of charge. He writes once again, Type-74 tanks today would be available for free to Filipinos. Meanwhile, the Philippines bought Sabrah towers for millions - no comment.
The Philippines has received the first two Turkish T129 ATAK attack helicopters. The T129 ATAK is a development version of the Italian A129 Mangusta helicopter. European attack helicopters are specific machines that do not match attack helicopters with the same capabilities as American and Russian designs. The concept of such helicopters turned out to be wrong, as evidenced by the decisions of Australia and Germany to abandon Tiger helicopters.
Slovakia, a largely mountainous country, plans to purchase 104 MBT.
I appreciate the effort of our Polish neighbor and NATO ally.
So far, the Slovaks had one tank battalion, the purchase of 104 MBT means that they will have 2 MBT battalions (the Slovak tank battalion is to have 52 MBT).
Slovakia has received offers to purchase tanks, probably Leopard 2A8 (the favorite, Slovakia already uses a dozen or so Leopard 2A4 tanks), K2 Hyundai Rotem, Abrams GDLS.
Slovakia is also buying 152 CV-90 Mk.IV IFVs with 35mm guns.
    Slovaks also buy 76 AMX-XP.
This is really a lot for a country the size of Slovakia.
The Slovaks also produce Zuzana 155mm self-propelled howitzers, but they do not have many of them in the Slovak Armed Forces (41 Zuzana 1/2 pieces).

once again it's still not that easy to transfer the Type-74 to the Philippines even if they ask for it.. even if Japan said they will ease the regulation about selling and transferring military equipment to other countries, the Japanese constitution is still very strict about it..
one example is, apparently until today Japan is still offering the Mogami class and the Indonesian Navy still willing to negotiate the deal.. but their law is too strict, MHI can't do anything about it.. it's on them..
I think the story is the same with the Philippines..
yeah, ATAK and Tiger is more like scout helos.. but since the Philippines will use it primarily to strike terrorist group.. no need for a heavy atack helos like Cobra, Apache, or Hind.. they have China problem, but as for right now I think they've admitted there's nothing they can do about it.. they need the US back up for that..
Slovakia plan to purchace 104 more mbts, or they plan to add their mbt to 104? if it's a western tank, operating in mountainous region should be fine, not like soviet made tank that have small radius of gun depression.. Leo 2A8 seems like the premium candidate.. especially if they already operate A4..

The Mogami-class frigates are amazing ships, I especially like the huge automation and extensive use of drones.
Type-74 is just an example, because they were recently withdrawn by the Japanese.
I believe that the Philippines can apply for much more used Japanese weapons.
Japanese regulations are constantly being relaxed when it comes to arms transfers.
It would be much cheaper to order multi-role armed helicopters, such as the S-70 or OH-6 Cayuse, the Turkish ATAK is a waste of money, and the capabilities are much smaller than those of decent attack helicopters.
From what I read, they plan to keep these dozen or so Leopard 2A4s in service and buy another 104 MBTs.

@@JanKowalski-he3gh yes.. that's why MHI is still trying to offer it, and from what I heard the Navy is still open for any deal.. the real issue is still in the Japanese govt hands.. the regulations are being relaxed but for a lethal equipment like tanks and warships, I think we need to wait for a while..
that's why the PAF is buying more S-70, right? I think they will use some of it for gunship.. turning it into a pseudo Apache..

@@PacificFront Legal issues regarding arms trade are issues that will be regulated by the Japanese authorities for a long time.
It will be much faster to transfer used equipment from the Japan Self-Defense Forces to the Allies.
Well, as far as I know, S-70s are not used to perform combat tasks in the Philippines and there are no such plans.
I just read about another country that for years has neglected its Armed Forces, especially its Navy, of course the worst situation is with submarines.
      It's about Canada.
On the one hand, Canada has huge ambitions when it comes to the Arctic, on the other hand there is a pacifist society and inept politicians such as Justin Trudeau.
Canada's frigate building program is in similar trouble to Australia's frigate building program.
As for submarines, Canada's Victoria-class submarines are disabled.
      Established in April 2023
Canadian Patrol Submarine Project - the team is to check available options when it comes to submarines.
Theoretically, Canada even mentions the construction of 12 submarines, but it is practically unknown whether any submarine will be built for the RCN.
On May 13, 2024, the head of the Canadian Ministry of Defense boasted that he had received a cooperation offer from the Germans, and the Koreans, Swedes, French, Spanish and Japanese are also interested in the Canadian tender.
Rescue for the weak and inept Canadian fleet may come from South Korea and Japan.
China's growing interest in the Arctic causes South Korea and Japan to want to join forces with Canada and the US to balance the influence of Russia and China
Poland is buying AGM-158B-2 JASSMER cruise missiles for USD 735 million. The Polish inquiry referred to 821 158B-2 JASSM-ER. I don't know how many pieces the contract was signed for. As we have already written, JASSM ER maneuvering missiles, K239 and M142 HIMARS launchers are needed to carry out a massive, deep retaliatory strike by the Polish Armed Forces.
