Why You Should Fly the Diamond DA62X - MSFS DA62X Mod - WT G1000 NXI

- Today we take a look at one of my favorite GA planes for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Diamond DA-62, supported by the Working Title G1000 NXI mod and the DA62X improvement mod. The DA-62 is a fun, modern plane with a very polished user interface. Combine that with the Working Title G1000 and you get a very capable VFR/IFR glass cockpit platform. It is not a plane that you need to fiddle with knobs and settings, you set two power levers and go about your buisiness, but that lets you focus on some of the other aspects of aviating in a general aviation aircraft.
As always this is not meant for any real world flight planning or flight instruction, and frankly sim pilots should take this with a couple of grains of salt.

My go-to aircraft in MSFS2020. A real joy to fly.
Took it for a spin for the first time a couple weeks ago and I was really surprised at how versatile and easy it was to fly. Really underrated imo!
I always found it interesting that the Centurion engine(s) in the DA62 is based off of an engine that originally was installed in a Mercedes.
Really nice video and review of the plane. I particularly agree with the visibility aspect! Not always the best out of a twinkie. Haven't tried this plane yet in the sim, I am going to have a go!
DA-62 came before (certified 2016) the DA-50. The DA-50 was recently certified, end of 2020. Also the DA-62 has 7 seats and the DA-50 has 5 seats.
I just started flying in MSFS. After getting through the training modules I jumped into the single-engine Bonanza G36 with the G1000 NXi. There are so many planes to choose from, and this video leads me to believe the DA62X should be my next plane, as it seems very similar to the G36 (fairly simple controls, glass cockpit, performance metrics about the same.) In the real world I'd need a lot more hours before transitioning to a two engine plane, but in MSFS it's probably not a big deal. Of course learning to use the G1000 well is the biggest challenge.

Not flown this plane much, the pillar for the wind screen on the left is a huge blind spot. Might give this another go though. Great video.
Yeah, I think this is a beautiful plane with many nice features but I disagree with the video that it has great visibility. As you mention, that curved pillar really is a terrible blind spot for touring around as well as the huge engines. Even the lowly Cessna-172 is much better for visibility.
Great video. What landing technique were you using? It wasn't ILS, but you still had a glide slope (GS) tape. I also heard an audio warning about vertical track. I enjoy landing with ILS and RNAV, but I would love to replicate what you did.
Great airplane but for some reason the ECU ynow that auto run up thing doesn't work for me and some weird red warnings pop up on the glass cocpit PFD
I get esp off displayed on the PFD, any ideas?
hello for some reason i can not refuel the aircraft before loading the flight i am stuck with no fuel
I installed the mod but in the aircraft selection page it just shows a DA62 it doesn't say mod or improvement or anything how would I know that the mod is installed

When starting engines remember to let glow annunciation to go away first before starting. Otherwise great review of the plane 👍🏾

Nice and clear review about the DA 62, I personally like the Twin Otter a bit more because of its somewhat complex controls and that fascinates me.
Speaking of the Garmin NXI 1000, I haven't heard anything since late last year regarding Updates, are they still improving the NXi?

The Garmin is still getting tweaked but it seems stable now. Rumored to be added to the sim officially with the next System Update but we shall see.

Nice to hear that Microsoft will probably take over when it comes to continuity.

@@jackwoud, oh no. I got confused. The NXI is different from the Working Title version which is the one I believe will be made the default MSFS Garmin once out of free beta.
I am sorry for my confusion.
In any case, the default Garmin will be better soon.
And the NXI is still great.

Someone please help! When I turn on electric master, the avionics don't turn on. I have to actually hit avionics master to get a picture.

@VFR Simulations I probably will buy my DA62 thru you guys eventually. I just have to wait until a few investments take off. Shouldn't be more than a year or so...
Quick question tho...I heard that the DA50 has the options of a pressurized cabin as well as a ballistic parachute. Then I read where Diamond scrapped those ideas. Would it still be an option for a pressurized cabin and ballistic parachute if I coaxed Diamond to continue those options if they are no longer planning to have those options available? Or are they still available to customers?
I do fly it every once and a while. I find it too modern and easy to fly
It's nice to have something that a flight simulator novice can get their feet wet in. There's no mixture or propeller pitch control
