- Route planning tips from Kurt starts the day as the crew gets ready to cross the border from Peru to Bolivia. After an epic (and slightly sketchy) ferry crossing, the team traverses through traffic in La Paz and finds themselves on quite the adventure. They make their way to Bolivia's infamous Death Road (North Yungas Road) and are able to help a local couple make their way home!

The old timer said that he thanks you for being a true gentleman and in not so many words may God bless you.
You have combined overlanding in an exotic place with professional grade cinematography in this episode! The aerial shots, camera angles, content, editing, soundtrack, and story line are all brilliant.
Expedition Overland, and The Grand Tour on the same day!! Don't think this day could get any better.
Anders Olson I had to specifically wait for the XO series to end so I could keep track of it all! Between those two and getting ready for our fishing season to start it was total chaos lol
you guys are amazing for giving the elderly couple a ride!!
Overlanding is a way of life. These guys exemplify what all of us that love the outdoors only dream about. Such a great adventure and we love the video journal of these adventures you have!
The cinematography on this one is superb! Editing, soundtrack, content, story line - all is very well done. This series may just break Overlanding into the mainstream.
Anyone remember Jeremy Clarkson sharting his pants when he let that truck go by in Top Gear?
Awesome that you guys gave so much respect to us overland cyclists. Let me tell you something, after bikepacking the whole of the Andes, I'm ready to drive this time. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go thru the remote places we've been on our bikes using an overland vehicle but at least I can buy some souvenirs along the way.
Is that you in the video? Are you on Instagram?
I'm super happy and super thrilled that none of those super rigs fell off that super steep super road in super Bolivia.
Keep those super vids coming
They are super good to watch on a super cold evening.
Super.
Me too, not only that but there were 2WD cars parked in those streets?
We got stuck on those crazy hills in La Paz for a couple of days - had to back down them in reverse in traffic! Not our finest moment :)
You're an inspiration 👊🏾
Thanks for watching XO crew! If you ever get the chance make your way through BOLIVIA!
you have to visit canaima national park in venezuela, we have a lot of overland people here
Seeing these videos is amazing, your adventure is awesome but you giving a ride to those "abuelos" is the sweetest thing!
ExpeditionOverland thank you for helping greetings from Colombia…
3:18 can I have the 2nd apps link after you said Hema Maps?...
Thanks..

Beautiful! Thank you for being in my country and glad that you enjoyed. Looking forward to watch more of XO!
Guys I really love what are you doing, specially when you visited my country Costa Rica. I’m probably one our your biggest fan, I live in Utah now and I enjoy it looking your aventure. Good luck.
So the elderly couple you guys gave a ride to. The gentleman said “ I am very thankful for you guys and also from the only man (god) in the world.”
Pretty much he said God put you guys in their path.
Love your videos guys. My wife is Peruvian and she enjoyed seeing your video. Your Perú video just helped me convince her on me purchasing my dream truck the Taco haha.
Thank you so much for your translation.
Thank you and the XO team for making every Friday night such an amazing thing to look forward to! I love the old couple, you should definitely run subtitles for what they said!
Pro safety tip. When travelling in cities, wind your window up- otherwise you might get hands through the window pulling your keys out of the ignition...happens all the time in developing countries.
Best episode yet. Bolivia is legit!
Bolivia is simply amazing.... I'm inspired to go; Wasn't on my radar until this video. Mucho gracias.
This series was, up until now, kind of okay. But it didn't blow me away like the Alaska/Canada series or the Central America series. This episode did again! Thanks!!!
The couple in 22:03, the gentleman is saying "Thank you, sir, i want to tell you that I am extremely thankful, I will pray for you. To me, you are the 'only man in the entire world". I know there were some concerns with the equipment BUT the reading of the situation was AMAZINGLY ON POINT, just an elderly couple needing help. Believe me, locally, your act still echos in the community. The day that the "gringos helped us out in their nice cars".
He said that the road was built long time ago and his father and grandfather used to travel around there all the time....
Buena perro ql
I'm running out of adjectives to describe your videos. I really enjoy them. Thanks for posting.
Damn, that road was intense! That small montage of all the different people in the car with the old people put a smile on my face, good on you for picking them up! Still inspiring me to do this trip!
Awesome video! Good to have all that armor on the vehicles especially in that crazy traffic, that drone deserves praise it’s been working it’s ass off as well as the operator and especially to the Toyotas for being reliable.
Watched you guys from season 1. Never commented. Your adventures have the right stuff. Planning, testing, research, more testing, discussion and constant review, on a daily basis. The hash tag would be Ya can't train this shit. I think you guys and your series, prove that hash tag to be faulted! Amazing work, as always! Inspirational !
When I heard "Toyota" I right away loved the channel.
Another great episode! Always sad to see it end... guess I'll have to wait for the next one.
Good on you for giving the elderly couple a ride.👍🏽
1 week feels like a long wait but we're already halfway through the season.. wishing it didn't have to end so quick
Bolivia looks beautiful btw!
Hilarious. Magical. Gorgeous. Epic
These guys are the first true overlanding channel I ever came across and still the best quality channel. Being a 4runner guy and toyota guy in general that was the main reason I started watching these videos but the production quality and story telling is just as entertaining as a movie and it’s real life! I just love watching the footage of them driving in these beautiful machines especially rufio. But I will say it’s easier said than done to do this if you don’t have sponsors handing you a bunch of awesome gear, just overlanding in general is expensive and if you work a lot it’s hard. Not to mention just getting a rig ready and giving it what it needs like armor, suspension, tires, wheels, gas, oil change, recovery gear, leds and lights in general, food, cooking and sleeping gear, and that’s just basic stuff without the computers and communication devices. Lol. But man this seems like so much fun. I still go out for the weekend and just lay a cheap mattress in the back of the 4Runner and I’m good to go but don’t have any cooking gear or roof rack tents or anything. Bigger trips is def little out of my budget but I respect these guys for making this channel so big and what they’ve accomplished. They didn’t just get these sponsors out of nowhere, they worked their ass off and I respect that. Best overland channel ever. I’m mad they sold rufio though. That truely broke my heart.
I just cant get enough of your show!!!
Best episode yet of season 3!
Outfreakingstanding!!! That was by far my favorite Episode this and last season, WOW! Can't wait until next week.
A little pucker upper to get the heart pumping!!
After work I enjoy watching every episode! Favorite show of all time...
Look forward to this every Friday . Thank you
That was fascinating. Nice job editing and producing. The dialog in the vehicles from radio to radio switching back and forth on camera views was very natural to watch. The driver perspective on the death road was done well and made tangible. Great job everybody.
Another straight up BANGER!!!
It's nice how Jeff's excited for Bolivia's death road .
Ahhhh BOLIVIA ... so many memories.
Maybe i'll even take a little credit for helping hype Kurt which looks like he in turned helped hype everyone else!
Next episode is gonna have epic landscapes!!
I need to get back there and do some more pictures.
Another cracking episode, thanks XO
I've been binge watching for the last week or so since season 1 (hospital night shift) and when I saw season 3 was going to Bolivia, I was waiting for death road.
Having gone to Bolivia 🇧🇴 myself, and with some friends, it’s an amazing beautiful country. We rode mountain bikes down the “Death Road” if you wanna experience the ultimate vacation, I cannot express it enough, GO TO BOLIVIA! The people are friendly, amazing arts a crafts. Leather bags are a must to buy, but a word of caution, it’s a very high altitude country, you’ll need to think about renting a oxygen tank, for the overly sensitive. they very in size, and are cheap to rent by the day, it’s the deposit is what is expensive, but they’ll return your deposit upon returning the tank, $250 deposit!, and you can refill anytime, oxygen are open24 hours, I never got used to it even after being there for 2 weeks, but Go!!!!! The notorious traffic in La Paz, red lights are completely ignored, it’s only bad in the downtown area, it’s such a beautiful city. Giving the elder couple a ride was heartwarming, going to Bolivia without going down the “Death Road” is a wasted trip. GO!!! Note: you also need to study Bolivian language, which is a different dialect of Spanish, most words are useful, it’s just that certain things are called something else in Bolivian dialect.
LC Turn Assist at 19:22 was awesome!
Appreciate the time and effort for these films. I'll be patiently waiting for the next Episode.
Excellent work guys! Godspeed! See you all in the next episode thx
Awesome season. More driving and scenery please
My goodness it's awesome to watch but at the same time my butt is seriously beginning to itch for my next trip!!!
All the best to the whole XO Crow from South Africa.
Bolivia is just amazing! Great video!
Ok, pucker factor took a HUGE jump this episode! Death road.. yikes. And where can a brother score a pair of Kurts Toyota labeled sunglasses?? Bravo on another fine episode XO!
Konza Overland he won them at a fair of all places.
ExpeditionOverland well drat..
Bicycle touring is amazing!! The sounds and stights are awesome. you feel the weather and smell the roses. When i rode down the PCH last year from Vancouver to Mexico. I saw so many people overlanding and on motorcycles. We all love to travel, All going down the same road, but we all had different experiences.
did pch Seattle to SantaCruz about 12 times in the 80s a few times we did the reverse route also a few times got back home and said hey lets do it again
agree IMHO bicycle can be one of the best ways or was back then todays traffic and idiocy of attention might make me nervous :)
but like snowboarding skiing snowshoeing etc.. who cares how you enjoy it fact is you enjoy it these days with a family of 4 and 2 dogs we go by vehicle :)
I agree, we all have to look out for eachother on the trips we go on.
HELL YEAH!! EXPEDITION OVERLAND RULES!!!
From Puerto Rico just awesome guys
That ending was such a cliff hanger!
I just...I just love you guys...
Hola Expedition Overland...saludos desde Paraguay!! Les veo en cada episodio de este viaje!!👏👏
The drone pictures are sooooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Been a few times after making life long friends from there in college here in the states, it's a wonderfully intriguing country.
Watching this makes me want to spend thousands on my 4runner and disappear into the adventure. Thanks guys!!!
You don't have to spend thousands, just disappear!
Best yet, Bolivia looks amazing, keep it up!
At 26:26 the old guy is either saying "please let me out I don't want to die" or "Your ginger beard is magnificent"
Neee it said that the road is beautyfull and thatit is called death row since the times of his grand father...
Wow great episode!!! Bolivia is amazing!!!

Clay, you can't leave us hanging like that at the end. Great episode!
Also when you said “muy bonito” he explained his grandfather and great great fathers drove those roads and since they called them “Camino de la muerte” which is called “Death Road”.
Every episode I’ve always been waiting for, and My traveling overland inpiration
WOW! I just started watching you guys last week, and I'm lovin' it! you guys are EPICALLY INSANE!!, please take that as a compliment. As a lube technician at a local Toyota Dealership here in Washington State I service all the Toyota trucks and cars four days a week. I have so much respect for all you guys to trust Toyota vehicles on your adventures, as I trust my
'21 Hybrid Sienna and '17 Camry on my adventures to the grocery store and occasionally to Mt. Rainier and Oregon :) You guys are such an inspiration for me to do more travelling, please keep making awesome content! HAPPY TRAILS!! :)
Epic as always gang!, Keep up the great inspiring work!
Enjoy watching your journey for sure!!!!
Another excellent chapter!
Death Road? Respect!
Sweet! Awesome as always. Ready for the next!👍🏼👍🏼⛰
Great episode. Each better then the last...
Wow, that road looks epic!
As always fantastic. So wish I was where I could make the trip.
I look forward to every Friday!! Love you guys. Cheers from Miami.
Great episode
Yes!
Thanks for been and driving on Bolivia is very tough dealing whit the drivers but the old man said this road is been here since or grand parents . Me and my family used to drive in those roads is very hard when is raining you got stuck for days but good luck guys
As always, enjoyed this episode as well! But was even more meaningful for me as I spent 6 years in Bolivia 86 - 91. Went down the Yungas Rd many times! Excluding on a skinny tire 10 speed! The first time down the "Death Road" my dad refused to ride in the truck through the part with the water fall and walked, by the time we left it was old hat. One of the many things I liked about living there was, it always seemed like an adventure to go anywhere. Thanks for sharing your adventures, Godspeed!
Mais um episódio Mais Uma Grande Aventura Parabéns a todos!!!
Just awesome.
That was crazy but so cool!!!! Loving this new series guys!!!
Simply at the end of the day when i want to sit down, relax and enjoy then i find expedition overland episodes... you guys are amazing
Wondering whats is the next we can expect in season 4?
22:26 thank you gentlemen, i am gratefull, and blessed by the lord above
racingsponga muy buena tu traducción, not bad at all
Couldnt remember everything he said and wouldnt let me type while I watched
racingsponga you beat me to it you were really close with the exact words, I was born there I reside in Toronto Canada now
So amazing, so jealous. Europe is so "common" compared to what you guys are able to drive. Believe me, I love Europe, but for driving I would say you are very fortunate.
True in some points. Expect for Scandinavia maybe. But from Europe it's not that far to Africa. Did a 60.000km journey there this and the last year. It's awesome as well!!
Iam talking about europe in general. And please, Africa isnt europe. I was again, talking about europe in general.
Dragonriders Travel but you know that they are from Montana, USA? So they drove a lot to get there as well. That's what I meant with my comment. And Africa is closer to Europe than South America is to USA.
Man I love this videos
Me gusta!
Awesome !!
The grandpa said that the death row is called by that name since their grand fathers times, and that has always been beautyfull
You guys are awesome. Huge fan from India
Thank you!
xo team congratulations for completing anothet milestone. i am mesmerized by the beauty that has been deftly captured by you on cameras. I was drinking through my eyes. The switchbacks in la paz were crazy. you have adequately answered my curiosity about navigation. but could you please tell about border permissions and permissions to use the quadcoptors, please. thanks.
Awesome,,,,,,,love it guys,gal:)
Those girls at the end must have thought Nathan was Woody Harrelson, "woody". LOL
