I find reading the back of the sleeve to be pretty helpful. There’s usually information about what instruments are recorded and some indication about the style music
Good tip yes! I do that sometimes too
4:27 you can also see the quiet parts. They are darker.
Nice video. As someone who has been collecting vinyl for 25 years my advice would be stick to records you like rather than random purchases.
If you are going to go down the charity shop lottery, soundtracks are always a good bet
Soundtracks are definitely a good choice but yeah my point about being able to listen first is probably the most important out of these. Can’t save you a lot of money and heartache 💔
haha i love the PT-01. i usually only use it on the go rather than home but its a great little scratcher
Love the "listen to the whole record" tip...that's the fun part for me when I'm crate digging. Like, I'd grab a coffee and try to find some time to listen to what I've found from start to end!!!
🙌🙌🙌
There’s so much golden jazz and funk out there that I haven’t heard yet!
Great vid !! 💯🔥
Thanks a lot 🙌
your voice is more chill in the last videos :)
I’m trying a more relaxed tone. I hope you enjoy it 😊👍
@@spvidz bro please make a video of you just reading the owners manual so I can use it as a bedtime story to lull me to sleep 😴 voice so smooth you could spread it on toast 😩
I was actually thinking of doing some 'fall asleep' type stuff to put on Spotify/youtube 😦
I only buy vinyl that I listen too. However I tried the buy a 100 records for $100 and I got maybe 10 records that I kept
Yeah those bulk buy deals are risky 😬
i always look for bulk deals but its a lot of crap you end up with. as for isolating. i used to run triple eqs or eq to sp to sp to seperate stuff a bit. gimmicky stuff, dont recommend. but it was fun though
Newbie question: What is the difference between the isolator and a low pass filter?
so cool vid man :)
Thanks for watching 🔥
Mr. James Chancey always listened to the whole record. Music was on 24/7. For the non iniciated J Dilla. And I buy only music that I like. Even in the 2 Euro bins.
Yeah but even when I don’t know what it’s gonna be if it seems like might be housey, funky, some wacky disco or some weird 80s dancehall I can’t resist that sucker
Jay Cee for the uninitiated
Owaaaaa!
I've asked if I can listen to the records but sampling them without buying? That's cheeky lol
lol. If you're a regular you might be able to
Great advice listen to the whole record. The only way all the great stuff was found :)

If i was looking for a budget turntable to use for this what would be a good option?
the pt01 he has is one of the best you could get, its cheap and solid and used by many. perfect combo for any sp. sometimes thriftstores have very solid options but mostly its wack but i do recommend the pt01
big * on the thrift part. it might not work or need work and might not be the best for handling. just go with the pt01 scratch. its made for this stuff
Either something second hand and replace the stylus or something like I’ve got is great. Lacks a bit of low end but you can compensate with EQ like I did in this video 👍
Ok, thanks everyone. I hadn't looked at turntables for a long time so wasn't sure what was around now. I'm very new to this and only got my 404 in the new year. The PT01 does look like a very good option and it's not that expensive so I think that's my best bet. Does this have USB and if so can you use as an audio output so the USB can be the input into the 404 mk2?
@@davidmaskew- the manuals will be online. Then you’ll have definite answers 👍
@Spvidz can you help me? 🙏 I was playing with my SP 202 I don't know what happened all off a sudden the sample I put on Pad one a bank won't show or play but when I try to delete it it shows but when I press delete my sp 202 freezes but I don't have that problem with any other pad or bank just pad 1 a and it just started any idea what's going on here?
Try and wipe eveyrthing instead of just the one pad. Hold cancel and then press delete, then press delete again. It may take a bit of time as the 202 is slow as hell!
@spvidz thank you very much I appreciate your help ill go try it now
@spvidz just tried and it worked thanks a lot your the best 👊🏿
Glad it worked man 🙌
