    5. Raptors
    6. Sinbad
    7. Invisible man

    Zee - I like the way you presented this list. Not the characters you win with the most, but the ones you enjoy playing the most. I game that way myself (most times) and my take away is always positive. Game to have fun and if I win its a bonus. Game to only win and if I dont, then I spend hours wishing I had played a card a different way. Thats not say I dwell on a game I lose though.

    This is one of the games where the theme of the character will make you enjoy the gameplay more.
    My favorite is Alice. Love having to time my size changes. When i'm caught off-guard at the wrong size, i can usually see i made a mistake. She's more unforgiving than other characters and i like her for that.

    • @dustinboatman6134
      @dustinboatman6134 Před 4 lety

      Shes relatively straight forward to play though. I think Sinbad is the most unforgiving in the original set. He is one character that if played wrong, will lose miserably every time.

    Fun topic! I own all the sets and have played most of the beta characters
    Bigfoot is just nasty with huge health, 6 unblockable scheme damage, 5 feints, three 6 value cards and the ability to draw after his turn.
    My favorite to play is Alice. I love the art, the mechanics, she is not too good but just good enough to always have a chance to win or lose

    Interesting! We only have 3 characters: Robin Hood, Bigfoot, and Bruce Lee.
    We have played this game a bunch, and Bruce Lee has never won. No matter who is controlling him, and no matter who he is playing against, he always gets his butt kicked. I see other people online saying that Bruce Lee is powerful too, but it hasn't been the case for us.
    He is still fun to play with though, and trying to chain together a bunch of actions is a good time.

    • @dustinboatman6134
      @dustinboatman6134 Před 4 lety +1

      That's crazy, because he is always a tough one in my games.

    • @nathanlige2961
      @nathanlige2961 Před 4 lety +2

      I think that those are probably 2 particularly tough matchups for him. Big Foot is so mobile, and the Jackalope could run interference (I'd probably focus on taking him out first if I was Bruce) and Robin Hood can plink away from range and also stay mobile. In fact, Bruce's Lee's power to move at the end of his turn probably wouldn't have much benefit against Robin Hood. The matchups in Unmatched have a lot to do with a character's success.

    • @bmay511
      @bmay511 Před 3 lety +2

      Bruce is actually quite powerful, and he's one of the better characters made thus far. His "Achilles heel" however, are "feint" cards, and any other cards that cancel text. Bruce really shines with this Combos, and feint cards and others that cancel card text shut those down immediately. Interesting that you mention Bigfoot being matched against him, because Bigfoot happens to have the most feint cards of any character printed thus far. One of the few characters I usually lose to whenever I play Bruce. Wait until about mid-game when many players have used their feint cards (if you're playing in a multiplayer game) and then strike. If you're playing one-on-one, not much you can do about it except try to time it out in a similar fashion

    I've only played with 3 characters (Bruce, King Arthur, and Bigfoot) and while the only game I won was with Bigfoot he was my least favorite of the three. Bruce was amazing, and I only lost by 1 hit point. Arthur was so hard but I can see why the designers of the game think he is one of the most powerful characters. I think he is underrated here on this list. Even though I lost with him it was close and very fun. I look forward to playing all the other characters. I'll have to try Dracula out next. This game is so underrated! Thematic mechanisms, the awesome artwork, the replayability ... Even the boxes themselves are designed so detailed that's it's easy going to pick the stuff and place them back. I also love playing it solo :) For me it shows that the gaming community, in comparison to other top tier games, is more about hype when it comes to fancy kickstarters and ranking, no front. In the end it's subjective but never ever does the boardgamegeek-ranking do the justice to this game it deserves

    I can't seem to find much evidence this game is for sale in the UK outside a couple of small expansions, I'm hoping to get one of the big boxes in the next month or so, what I love about reading these comments though is that there does not seem to be a consensus on best or worst characters, for me this indicates that preference is likely based on the theme and playstyle rather than power level. Agreed. I think though I've played him very patiently and defensively. Once you use those outlaws as a shield, position your self on a good space, put distance between you and your opponent and time your strong attacks just right: Robin hood is deadly. He isn't flashy but he is very very functional and a good antidote to a very aggressive fighter.

    I rank these characters 2 ways: How thematic or fun they are, and how balanced. For example: I think Bigfoot is top 5 in how fun and thematic to play, but I'd rank his balance in the bottom 3 for being a little too OP. I would be interested to see what everyone else thinks are the most imbalanced characters?
    Lack of balance is my number issue with this game. I'd be more excited to play this game if I didn't feel like I was getting gypped by playing a few characters and cheating with others.

    I think medusa and alice deserve to be higher in this list. I never ever saw bruce lee getting a chance to slay medusa. In total, bruce lee is a character that lost about 90% of his fights. And alice won about 70% of her fights. I do agree about king arthur, he has such a twisted deck.
    For me its:
    #1 Medusa
    #2 Sindbad
    #3 Alice
    #4 Muldoon
    #5 Bigfoot
    #6 Bruce Lee
    #7 Raptors
    #8 Robin Hood
    #9 King Arthur
    PS: thanks for making the list. Really appreciate it!

    Robin Hood at 12? For shame sir. His ability and cards are INSANE

      I'm going to preface by making sure you know I'm asking this question honestly. I haven't played Robin hood yet because I hear from everywhere that he's bad. If I hadn't heard that he would be my first pick (I like ranged attacks). If u can convince me on him I might just got out and pick up a copy.

      @@dblevins343 in my opinion, he's the best ranged character in the game. Tons of cards that make your opponent discard cards. His ability allows he AND his outlaws to move for free after any attack which is just crazy action economy in this game. And he has the most sidekicks of any character with 4. You basically feel like you're sticking to the shadows, sending your army of outlaws to do your dirty work, and basically doing everything you can to annoy your opponent the whole time. Very fun to play as and VERY annoying to play against

    Do you think a low tier hero can defeat a top tier if the two players have the dame knowledge or it is completely impossible?

      I think it takes a little card luck and a bit of poor positioning from the stronger character but it's not crazy for the underpowered characters to pull off a win.

      The way I play it, Hit and run, try not to end your turn right beside an opposing fighter as bruce only have 14 health.
      Make use of bruce skill (at end of turn, move 1 space)
      Use the jeet kune do cards, once you are sure, your opponent have very little defense card. (If opponent have feint cards, your combo is done, so take note of how many feint your opponent have used, theres only 3 feint cards.)
      Else, only use some of the jeet kune do cards, keeping some for later.
      Some of his scheme cards have +1 actions as well.

      When you play him in a 2v2 match, he can be quite devastating. BUT you have to get the right cards at the right moment AND you have to keep Merlin alive, so his cards wont be useless.

    At 6:52 you mention that it is an Any card and that you can defend and attack with it. This is a mistake. The fact that it's an Any card does not mean that you can defend or attack with a card, it simply state which fighter can make use of the card. To see if it's a defense card, attack or versatile is based on the symbol above. In such, the card Clever Girl is an attack card.

    Thanks for the list. Just one comment to say for Dracula’s ranking. Your initial level of health cannot be exceed. In my opinion makes Dracula not such a good character or at least not the best one in comparison with other such overpowered like Medusa, Simbad or Invisible man
