RPM Conference 2023 Naperville, Illinois

- At the end of October, I attended my first RPM Conference in Naperville, IL. It worked out in my school calendar this year that I had Friday off as comp day for Parent/Teacher Conferences. So I packed a bag and some models and I was off for the weekend.
The RPM Conference held at Northern Illinois University in Naperville, IL did not disappoint. I saw some wonderful models, layouts, and visited with many vendors. It was also great to finally meet so many of my CZcams and Facebook friends and followers whom I have known for years but had never met face to face.
When I asked about dates for the 2024 RPM meet they said it would be in October and the location would be the same place, Northern Illinois University.

Hello Scott! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I enjoyed my time there and hope that my school schedule will allow me to attend next year for all or part of the RPM Conference. Yes, I was debating between going to Lombard and Des Plaines Hobbies. I picked Lombard as I have plans to stop by Des Plaines in December when my wife and I make our annual holiday trip to Chicago. ~Tony
Thank you for sharing your experience at the Naperville RPM. I agree, that HO scale layout is awesome and I enjoyed watching the action on that modular pike. I have not heard of the Van Dorn boxcar end, so that was really interesting to see. Well done video, Tony! Mike
Hello Mike! I would have liked to know more about the ends for the Van Dorn boxcar if they were commercially available or if they were a casting by the modeler. The boxcar they were on was still a work in progress and was not painted up Rock Island, yet. Overall, I had a great experience at my first RPM Conference. Take care, Tony

Outstanding video presentation! A friend and I go to the RPM meets in Cocoa Beach, and this one you attended looked fantastic as well. Three things: 1. Thank you for sharing Clark Probst's excellent M&StL RS-1 models. I love all the paint schemes (Scheme 1 has always been my personal favorite). 2. Glad to see you took the Rock Island AB6 you have been working on. It looks great! 3. From an overall perspective, HO Scale is usually more represented at an RPM meet, but we are all model railroaders, and we share ideas regardless of the scale! The track and signaling on that layout is top notch. Cheers!
Hello Sean! I hope you are doing well. Going to the RPM Conference was just the little break I needed this fall. Wow! What a great time I had and the models and clinics were so good. I'm already penciling this in for next October if my school calendar allows for it. Going to an RPM Conference in the middle of an Iowa winter to Cocoa Beach sounds like a great plan! Take care, Tony

Yes, it was great getting to meet and network with several in the hobby. I truly enjoyed the two days and didn't feel rushed and was able to take in everything that I want to do or see. ~Tony
The 2024 RPM Naperville dates are October 11 & 12! We look forward to returning to the NIU Conference Center.
