From the Syria-Turkey border all the way to the UK, The Walk brought together celebrated artists, major cultural institutions, community groups and humanitarian organisations, creating one of the most innovative and adventurous public artworks ever attempted, all in support of refugees.
Across eight countries in four months, Little Amal travelled, carrying the message 'don't forget about us'.
At a time of unprecedented global change, The Walk offered an extraordinary artistic response: a cultural odyssey transcending borders, politics and language to tell a new story of shared humanity.
This extraordinary living artwork was produced by Good Chance Theatre and created by Handspring Puppet Company. Learn more about how they created Little Amal and brought her to life.

Norway should take in every refugee from Syria, Palestine and Afghanistan, your country is too white and needs to be diverse. 50% of your pay checks should be given too migrants

No one knows my name
For grown-up's all nine year olds are the same
They all run and they jump and play hide and seek
They make lots of noise and are told not to speak
But I know my name
And the name of my mum and the smell of her hand
And I know the long way that took me far away from my land
And I'll walk and remember
The Aunts patting my head
And their skirts smell like flowers
Flowers and bread
And I'll walk and remember
Every single child in my class
And the fat ginger cat that used to hide in our grass
And I'll walk and remember
And walk and remember
And I walk and remember
That I'm never alone
I have my name and the birds
And everyone that I've known
And I know for a fact
That I dont walk alone
Through these fields made of mercy
And the sky made of stone
There'll be knew things to remember when this long journey ends
I'll have lots of bright memories
And many more friends

I have a 21 yr old special needs granddaughter who is obsessed with these giant puppets, the first one she say were from France. I am also sponsoring a family of 5 from the Ukrainian in my home in Corsham Wiltshire. I would absolutely love to bring my Ukrainian family and my granddaughter to one of the walks that Amal does, unfortunately we are away over the weekend of the 25th which is the closest walk to us, is there anything you can do to help us to come to see her? Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
