Thanks for another great video. I would like to add that in the grid settings you can change the units from pixels to inches (or meters), then space the grid lines to whatever scale you need. You can even rotate it if you want. You can then scale the plan to the grid.
Hi Brent, thanks for pointing out this feature in the grid setting! I should have mentioned this in my video. Appreciate the feedback.
Thx for even more useful info!
Congrats on a 1K subscribers. On that note, this was really helpful
Thanks for noticing Timothy! I actually crossed that milestone earlier today. Always nice to hear encouraging words from fans.
Thank you so much this is life saving! I’m a struggling architecture student and new to learning autocad but used to work as an illustrator and am quite familiar and comfortable with procreate so this is so great to know about the program, thank you!
You are welcome! Good luck in architecture
I use this for my projects when I need to remember certain things like which tool I was using if they’re similar: mark each side with a different color dot so you can easily remember which one you were using
This is honestly so clever! Thankyou so much for providing these amazing iPad videos, even though as designers we are moving foreword to this easier iPad workflow, I struggle to find content that is helpful and there doesn’t seem to be much out their on using procreate for architects and designers, so I really appreciate the simplicity of yours! Please keep it up :)))
I am currently studying interior design. I have just discovered your channel yesterday and now I am almost gone through half of your videos. For some of your videos I go through even twice. Very helpful, and I am very happy that you share your experience with how to use different software.
I have purchased your procreate templates and furniture set. I would love to buy your people set, but I am looking for people that are doing activities in the house like cooking, sleeping and playing etc. If you have time could you please add some for inside the house? I love your idea that the different set of people are for different uses. Good point indeed, it adds to the story of the project.
Thank you for watching many of my tutorials and leaving many comments too!
I will consider adding more people to the existing brush set. If you cannot wait, it’s very easy to find cutouts online and just trace over too.
Love to learn more, templates works like a charm makes life easier then carrying all the blueprints with you
glad this template worked for you!
The free templates are amazing!
This is honestly revolutionary for showing inhabitation on floor plans thank you
Glad you think so! Happy to hear it.
Thank you so much. This is really helpful!
Hi Rita! Glad you think so, hope my templates will serve you a long time.
Super helpful! Thank you!
Thanks for watching too.
This is the second video I'm watching from your channel and I love how easy you make it look ---very inspiring!
And as soon as I heard that you're giving free templates to the arch./enthusiast community, I just subscribed and hope to get more knowledge from your upcoming tutorials.
Thanks!
Jake

so helpful!! thank you so much
You are very welcome!
I know triangular scales can be difficult at times but I really love them💟☺️
Nice to hear you do :-) lol
THANK YOU!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing! I have been wanting to switch to drawing my designs on my iPad.
You are so welcome!
I use procreate for sketching but this is a very smart use of grid scale. Thank you
It's a hack! but works.
I started using Adobe fresco for planning my stairs, ramp, and landing a few days ago. Today while playing with it, I started to wider if anyone is using fresco in this way and found your video. Thanks for the tips.
Wonder not wider*
Super helpful. Thank you
You're welcome!
hi Henry .. tQ for this video. I am very new with procreate .. I need to draw rough scaled drawings - I guess revising a few times of this video would get me understand more how to roughly draw scaled drawings .. tQ.
stay safe
You can do it!
That's awesome man-i will run to the iPad for architecture-thank u
You got it!
Thanks a lot I was waiting for this vid
I know! I made it for you, hope the instructions are clear. But lmk if anything needs to be clarified further.
@@HenryGao don’t worry thanks a lot
why are you so good at teaching, great explanation.
Thank you so much! This comment made my day.
Thanks
Bro, you the real MVP for these downloads!
Thanks Chris, appreciate that.
This was actually really helpful. I just got myself an iPad Pro and downloaded Procreate. This will help with my projects, thanks
Good for you! Hope you excel in school/work with this new tool.
Which ipad ?
@@devnagariya7973 any newer Ipad, with a pen, doe not have to be an Ipad Pro
Thanks for the tips... it maybe worth placing a bolder 'super' grid over the 1 foot grid for 2 or 5 or 10 feet to aid counting squares.
Great tip! Maybe in the next iteration. Sorry for making you count all the little squares...
Great video.
BTW, I hate using those 'triangular' scale rule. I prefer the flat version with a slight bulge along the centreline as it allows me to tilt and raise edge so the inks are not smeared.
Haha, have to say I've never used the one you are describing!
Yes. Great. I use SketchUp and have made templates and workarounds to enable printing to scale directly from SketchUp, including 2d title blocks etc (bypassing layout).
Thx for info how to do this in procreate which I've only just got! 🙂
That sounds like an interesting workaround too! Love to hear your feedback on my templates if you get a chance to download them.
@@HenryGao 👍👍
Yes use your scale!! So many times setting out buildings it will not work brick/block work
Thank you sooo mch
Most welcome 😊
Hello Henry, I’m learning procreate for floor plan. I’m trying to figure out how to scale 1:100 in a4 format. Any help on this?😊
Would this calculate load bearing calculations for beams and headers ?
oh man, scales are pretty important.. Just need to get use to them.
As a former architectural draftsman (1977-2008), I agree. I have been using SketchUp since 2003, these days for something to do in retirement. I was born in 1952 and didn't know my dyscalulia had a name until 1995 (explaining why I never became an architect).
long career as a draftsman! you must have been very proficient working with pen and pencil back in the days
Henry have you ever come across an area limit on the sheet that you can’t draw beyond. I have hit this problem.. how do I set the drawing area limit.. tried changing the print size but no luck..
Hello Henry, I have a 00 scale (4mm to 1’-0) model railway. When you went into set up your grid, would I make the grid 4mm? Is it that simple ?
I would recommend looking in Morpholio Trace for your needs.
Somebody can help me and explain me exactly what he is doing but with centimeters ? I am completely lost with inch etc. I would like to draw my 2d plan on scale (1:100 and 1:50) on a A3 and A2 paper ... somebody know how to do it ? Thanks a lot
ive started my first year plumbing and need a way to sketch out oragami templates, pipe work and annotate lines with real measurements... a grid snapping would be ideal... autocad seems decent but is very clunky on my first unguided attempt with it...
i need to be able to hand my ipad over to people
You can do it on the iPad
Great video, I am looking at Ipad and pen but need to buy a new one. What is the Ipad your using, why do you like this one?
I have the 12.9” iPad Pro 3 gen.
Great video! Mind if I ask what case your using?
Thanks! iPad magic case
The scale ruler will alway be an essential too. Period.
I am not throwing it out for the time being, just kidding in the video.
If you cant use a scale gtfoh.
we needx programs/apps that can recongonize both vector and raster together.
Good video, it's a pity you don't program
As an architect who works in the metric system, I am in awe how you guys do it in the Imperial system. That ruler would scare me!
Yes, hard to imagine for architects that work in the rest of the world!
Great video but a bit cumbersome when comes to scales! Scales and overlapping are the most import elements when drawing floor plans.
Give this template a shot, It's a good workaround if you are familiar with Procreate. Otherwise Morpholio is great too.
@@HenryGao Thanks for your prompt reply. I don’t use procreate but this is a good excuse to download it and learn a new tool. Sure, I’ll download your template and give a tryout. Thanks again!
Thanks a lot. I have a question: Can Ipad use Sketchup software?
Hey, yes you can view the Sketchup model on the iPad but no relationship with Procreate. It’s helpful on the go, but you can’t really model on the iPad.
@@HenryGao Thanks
What the size screen recomended ipad pro for architect presentase ?
I have the 12.9" and wouldn't go smaller myself because I use it primarily for drawing and reading drawings. Hope that helps.
Is the 12.9 inch ipad travel friendly ? Do you use it at different sites/locations etc ?
Hey Hazim, thanks for tuning in again. I travel with my 12.9" all the time to the construction site. Though I would like a lighter iPad, the extra screen real estate is worth it when it comes to drawing. I actually bought the 11" iPad first but returned it because it felt too small to do the kind of sketches i do.
@@HenryGao okay thanks ! I’m currently using the 11”. It’s v mobile but sometimes the screen feels a bit small. 😂
work as architect in 2022.
keep measure dimensions in legs and fingers.
What are tips for someone that is studying architecture
research what's coming professional.
nothing wrong with a scale and trace, actually Ive been using a light table lately so not too much trace, and whenever I get the general idea set up I go to revit, then print and sketch over as needed
Yes that’s totally fine! iPad allows you to do this sitting on an airplane.
is that ipad 11 inch or 12.9 inch ? and which one u recommend for architects ?
Depends on your needs, both are fine. I have 12.9"
I guess when the drawing starts within Procreate, there would not be any issues, it's when we import some drawings from outside that we have recalibrate the scale of the drawings.. may i correct here ..?
Yes you are somewhat correct. But most likely people are going to be working with some sort of existing drawing, so there’s always going to be some importing and exporting involved when working with procreate.
@@HenryGao tQ Sir..
Thank you for the video tutorial. I only wish more people would use less music while teaching. Very difficult to concentrate during the lesson.
Hi Miguel, thanks so much for writing this feedback. I really appreciate it. In the future, I will be more mindful of the background music (either turning it down or cutting it out completely). Appreciate you letting me know!
They make little clips to add to the scale so you always know what side you are working on.Yes, the scale feels outdated.
tell that to students nowadays!
@@HenryGao I think they come with the Alvin scales now.
Try concepts
Some day
Hi, What brush do you use?
Hi! You can find it in the description of each video. Cheers.
Is there a reason why you don't draw straight lines but wobely lines?
There's more character with "wobbly" lines...
What ipad you are using?
iPad 12.9” 2020 model
may i know what model your ipad is?
iPad Pro 12.9” 3rd gen
Danko
Any metric templates?
Not at the moment because I am not familiar with sizes, is this what you are looking for?
Which pad are you using?
In the description below
god bless u xdd
Which procreate is this
Procreate 5.0!
เสียดายต้องเช่ารายเดือน ไม่มีซื้อจาด ครั้งเดียว
Will you do online classes with me ? Lol 😅 pls ? How much lol
Music was too distracting.
great toolkit. Subbd
Ha....Your not the only Architect annoyed by 3 sided scale. It now holds a place next to my Dad's slide rule ;)
ha same but in closet
instead of procreate maybe look into concepts - it is a much better tool for this type of space sketching with dimensions
I appreciate this thought!
Love your ingenuity but the fact you need to use your "dirty method" is crazy because scaling within Procreate is an absolute must and should be included as standard. What are the developers playing at?? And it also still can't read pdf's!!!....WTAF. Morpholio Trace's scaling feature is perfect. It would be easy to replicate this type of functionality in Procreate, but no, the developers know better.
I think it’s a matter of time before they come out with a more sophisticated feature for the AEC folks.
Seems a hassle just to resize pdfs every time
Hey Erik, I think you will benefit from Morpholio for sure! Do check it out.
Too much pub!!!!
