I'm an ice car owner so I just don't understand why electric charging stations just can't simply accept debit or credit cards like a gas pump will. The technology exists so why not make it simple and easy to charge your EV? As an ice owner I can pay for gasoline any way I choose and I don't have to bother downloading finnicky apps and praying that they work. I had considered an electric car at one point but the more I learn about EVs in general is putting me off buying one and charging difficulty is a big deal.

They can and they do, though that is the UK - I can't speak for anywhere else.

In Germany you can't pay with credit card. There is also a game about finding the cheapest price, something that EV owners seem to like. As ICE owner I do not understand that game, and find it kinda childish. I just go to the pump, see the price on the banner, fill, go to the clerk, say hello, pay cash and say good bye.

We're in a Canadian border town and the choice is easy. We can pay more for gasoline in our own country or drive a few miles to the nearest American town ( where we do most of our grocery shopping ) and pay less for gasoline. There's no carbon tax in America and you can pay with cash, credit or debit card, fast and easy, no absurd app to worry about.
