    We own at Laguna Mar and love it! We shopped @ Walmart & Costco. Got there by bus & walking. Easy!!

      We went to Walmart one time by bus many years ago. Now we just go to Soriana but probably won't do that in the future either. I will have a future video about my thoughts regarding groceries when staying at Lagunamar. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for all the info! Will be staying here in April 2024. Are you going to do a review of the restaurants on site and does the rooms have room service?

      I may do a video about the restaurant options, but I also discuss those in my comparison video between Lagunamar and the Westin Cancun, so you may want to check that out; czcams.com/video/mJyaECVhP8A/video.html

    Now that looks like paradise! I saw from last week's comment that you are buying Club Wyndham resale. Which property did you buy? We own Sedona and EOY Kona, the value we're getting out of these two properties is incredible.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Před rokem

      We bought a 250,000 Club Wyndham Access contract. It was free, just had to pay the closing and transfer fees. I know the maintenance fees are a little on the high end, but we will see how it works and may sell it later for something with lower fees per 1000 points.

    • @thejokerspeaks
      @thejokerspeaks Před rokem

      @@DestinationTimeshare There's always the advantage of early access to all those properties. Our Sedona contract is 154,000 points for $1,100 per year, and Kona is 231,000 points EOY for $1,480 EOY. With the latter, 462,000 points were deposited, that's what my online contract now says, and Wyndham confirmed that would be ongoing. I'm wasting some of it on room upgrades, but I'll take it!

      We ordered them on Amazon. We actually just ordered some new ones that have prints instead of the stripes. Here's the link; www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B1ZJVVJP

    I recently purchased a 2 bedroom lock off at the Mariott Grand Chateau thanks to your videos! Thanks! Question.....
    The Westin Lagunamar has no mandatory resort fees when booking getaways. I did notice a lot of Mexican resorts charge an arm and a leg for mandatory resort fees. I am disappointed in that. For example, Moon Palace charges around 300 to 400 USD per night at their resorts in Jamaica and Mexico. Is it really that high or am I looking at it wrong. I'll have to call Interval but I just wanted to know your thoughts. Thank God Lagunamar is affordable with no/low resort fees.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Před 11 měsíci

      That's great. Are you planning to use it for exchange? Grand Chateau is a great resort to own for tradking weeks in the MVC system. No way we would ever go down the points route. Lagunamar is also fantastic. Those all inclusive resorts you usually see in Interval International are actually regular all inclusive resorts that market their resorts through II and then just charge the high AI fees to bring the prices more in line (or higher) than you can book direct with them. For any AI resort, you are almost always better to just book direct with them or through an online travel agent.

    Watch out when getting Pesos at ATMs. Some ATMs only dispense USD, while those dispensing Pesos can be hidden mostly for employees, or you need to go to a bank. When withdrawing Pesos, make sure to always decline conversion. ATMs will offer you to convert and charge you in your home currency such as USD, but their conversion rate is horrible. Same when paying with a credit card sometimes. Always decline conversion and choose to be charged in Pesos.

      Very good point. Basically the one thing to watch out for in Mexico is that most of the time they are trying to rip you off? Thanks for watching.

    Which Westin do you like better, Lagunamar or the Resort and Spa?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Před rokem +1

      I will have a future video on this topic. We like them both for different reasons. That said, Lagunamar is superior in most regards. The location of Lagunamar is much better in the middle of the hotel zone with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. There isn't a lot in the near vicinity of Resort & Spa Cancun. Thanks for watching!

    Hi. may i know how much do u usually tip on the driver, servers etc

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Před 7 měsíci +1

      We usually take Pesos with us and tip drivers to and from the airport $200 peso (roughly $12). Taxis really aren't supposed to be tipped all that much, but they get grumpy if you don't and they seem to think they should be tipped. Use judgement on that. For restaurants, the tourist areas seem to have similar standards as the US though 15% is usually sufficient for good service. If you get drinks at the pool bar $20-$50 Peso per drink is probably about average.

    How much are beers ?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I took a look at some video clips of the menus I have for an upcoming food & beverage video for the resort and as of May 2023 they were $75 Peso for Mexican brands. Imports (even American beers) might be a little more expensive.
