Her voice was such a gift for us. "Troy" has been a favorite of mine for about 35 years. So much emotion.

I met her around then, she was so sweet, quirky and and shy, but on stage she sung like a warrior - it was like she used her art to express what was in her heart and it was completely unfiltered. I just wish her time on this earth was less painful - but without that pain we wouldn't have had this.

Sinead and I were born in the same year.. I was lucky enough to see her twice in concert and I consider that a gift in my life ❤️

RIP Senead! The most misunderstood and immensely talented artist I've ever seen! Her passion and pain .... o my God.....just unbelievable and suffocating! Love her and her voice❤❤❤❤

Perhaps her most heartfelt song; one of longing and pain. This song is incredible.

With her father out of the picture, Sinead was raised by her mentally ill mother who abused her. This pain seems to color just about everything in her life. She described her family dynamics as "agony."

Everything off this first album is incredible & I still listen to the whole thing regularly.
Melancholy is the word I associate with it the most.

A Beautiful And Troubled Soul. R.I.P. Sinead.

To quote Sinead herself - "I'm a wounded soul who just needed to scream into mics now and then". This song was recorded for her 1987 debut album when she was 20. Her abusive mother (of whom this song is about) had just died 2 years prior in a car accident when she was 18.

They said her mother would lock her out of the house and she watched from outside as the last window light turn off. At which point I assume she snuck back into the house hence you should have left the light on

This is a beautiful AND sad song.... and her best!. 'Nothing Compares 2 U' is an awful song in comparison. I'd guess some music exec's choice!!
