I have never commented on a video in my life, 53 years old. With all that is going on in this world, these young activists are a glimmer of hope. At least I know they exist. They aren't just fighting the infraction of illegal parking, they are standing up to citizens who are behaving rudely and arrogantly. As if they are privileged and have the right to ignore the law. Only if the car is in motion. Parked cars may have covered plates, or even no plates at all. If you cover them or remove them specifically to avoid responsibility though, that is an offense, even if the covering of the plates itself isn't.
But... they drive around like that or just cover a letter/number every time they park ?
Georgi Klincharov It depends. Most remove it when they start driving again and then put it back when they park, though I'm sure at least some drive around with it as well. If it's just short drives they do, it's a low chance of police spotting them after all.

Just found these videos a few days ago and I am blown away by the decency, patience and resilience of these young men and women. Here in the UK, we are often fed negative stereotypes about Russia and Russian people. These videos offer a welcome and inspiring alternative take. While we don't have the same problems here in the UK, where traffic enforcement is pretty strict, we could certainly take some valuable lessons from the laudable behaviour of these young people.

In America, covering your plates is illegal, and having plates that belong to a different car is indication of a serious felony like a stolen car. The second a cop learns a vehicle has the wrong plates, he would get serious and make an arrest.

You'd think so..but not everywhere in the US enforces the laws.. In Chicago for example the police are forbidden to pjrsur anyone in a vehicle these days. So plenty of gangbangers drive around without any plates at all.. Whenever the cops try to pull them over, they just drive off laughing becsue they know the policeman can't chase. I know it seems like an "only in Russia" sort of thing... But you'd be amazed how quickly things are going downhill in a lot of the big cities here.

Not sure how it works over there but here in the US, the license plates don't belong to the individual. They belong to the State that issues them to you. Covering the license plate on your car is illegal. If someone were to walk up and uncover it, they would technically be performing a public service.
Charles Eye Well ofcourse it's illegal and the plates are legally owned by the state in Russia as well. Just the "thug culture" runs deep.

Weird how the police are so shy in Russia. People are extremely rude disrespectful to the police, yelling in their faces, refusing to cooperate.. whenever anyone is getting into trouble, other friends come up and try to persuade the police, tell them their own little lies and versions of events. Instead of asserting their authority or taking the control of the situation the police seem to be kind of sheepish, they seem like they don't want to get involved,
Not saying it's their fault, it's probably just lack of training in combination with different laws and a different culture. Tbh it's better than the American system (where the police are way too violent, cruel and sadistic). The police in places like Britain and Australia seem to have the right mix: cool, calm and helpful but very assertive and in control. They are friendly and won't use force unless absolutely necessary, and they earn the respect of the community,
Russian police are afraid of the political connections that people have, which makes a huge impact on "justice" there because of the massive amount of corruption. Give the wrong person a ticket and you'll lose your job.
Torgo The whole "American police are violent" thing is bullshit, I live in America and I've never met a police officer that was anything but nice, if you start being aggressive towards them obviously they'll be aggressive back but they're supposed to. In America that guy wouldn't have been shot, he would've been taken to the ground and arrested and in America they would've checked him for the gun that he said he had. Those officers didn't check him or the car or anything which is really dangerous seeing that he was threatening people with it.

I'd be a bad member. I couldn't keep so calm after all his bullshit and I would file complaints all the time just to teach them a lesson. Nothing hurts more than paying money for minor BS you could've easily avoided even though fines are stupidly low in russia for traffic rule violations I think it would still be more effective. Getting away free after all that sends the wrong message to people like him.
