It's safe. The only thing crazy is the parking garages after 2AM. So just make sure you leave at 1:30. Otherwise you'll run into all the drunk people leaving the club.

Downtown Orlando is just a bunch of local trashy bars and smoke shops that cater to the locals and whatever amount of college kids that even visit. Citywalk and Disney downtown have taken all the fun away from downtown Orlando. They both have a nice bit of upscale establishments which cater to tourists so its a great place for locals to vist. Downtown Miami is the same as Citywalk and Disney downtown.
