Can swap dragon ice for background dragon. Sending it to GY via foolish or dragon shrine will result in a free body + special summon from hand (this can start your dragonmaid chain without using normal summon to search fusion spell). Otherwise, if you don't need lvl 5 specifically, you can run destrudos (free body even if you discard them as a cost for something or access to lvl7 synchros), alternatively - galactic spiral dragon for free body from GY + access to rank8 dragons (hieratic or hope harbinger). Edit: you may also run small world, there are many bridges in this deck.
Couple thoughts: Personally not a fan of 3 Dark Metal. Realistically you don't need more than 2 because if you do, you're probably on the backfoot of a bad grind game. It's also just super bricky if you draw 0 starters. If you want, you could just replace 1 with Monster Reborn, which gives you a generic reborn and is more helpful in more situations where you potentially brick as a more generic extender. Also not a fan of 3 Spiral Fusion. I feel 2 is enough for a decent enough grind game, and you don't want to open multiples that potentially brick you. I don't see the point of running Sky Galloping Gaia if you aren't running Spiral Spear Strike. The entire point of it is to search for SSS. At most you can run it as a one of to get a 5*+ for Sheou or to slap them twice in case you just can't with anything else, but you don't need 2. The Curse of Dragon fusion lets you essentially go into good Gaia by itself by recycling Spiral Fusion and then send from grave so that's the much better option at 2. I prefer Lightning Storm over Raigeki with 3 Tidying and a larger maid package, but that's just personal preference. Lightning Storm on backrow and then chaining a Droplet sending LS, a maid, and Tidying basically makes their entire board offline while giving you a special for the maid in grave or any potential ones in hand. Gaia doesn't have many options to get its own engine into play without burning your normal, so your dragonmaid engine kind of needs to be able to function as well as possible through special only, something Dragonmaids also typically don't do well. I've been testing with other 5* dragons like Background but I typically just found that adding something like 3 Parlor was just more consistent, and the only 5* you really need is the 3 of Curse of Dragon you're currently running. Most times you're just trying to turbo out the Gaia that isn't complete doodoo alongside Sheou and maybe Spheres if you can't OTK on the spot.
I'm going to try, as of right now it looks like the gaia engine isn't good enough to do pure. So I was thinking of mixing it with rokket's, or other dragon support. Its a very one turn kill type deck, and I'm hoping there's more to it then just that :)
Gaia isn’t good going first. I’m sure you know that. You play it going second using cards like swords of concealing light and book of eclipse to flip down all your opponents then go for sky galloping Gaia to search for the spiral spear strike so you can attack 2 face down monsters which does piercing damage which is probably an otk. If they have links , you play raigekis and super poly to break board then go for as Many Gaia monsters for lethal damage
