Actual title: "Why I Will NEVER Mod My *Main* 3DS (Unlike My Others)". Hopefully that clarification curbs the people dropping dislikes before watching the video.
Nintendo fan boi bragging rights. Neat.
To be quite frank, as someone who runs a small business on hacking game consoles, these are totally valid points! There’s something special about a system with all that content and all that history that hasn’t been injected in post mortem.
I didn't have the opportunity to buy the physical copies of games but spent tons of money on eshop. Now I lost them all, so I modded it after eshop closed. Won't make such a mistake with Switch, I gonna buy cards for games I mostly want.
Absolutely! Some games on the 3DS eshop were de-listed way before the shutdown so the only way to get them back were by modding!
Last 2014, my first 3DS that I saved up in high school was a brand new New 3DS XL Fates Edition. I wanted a white 3DS and bought it without even knowing what Fire Emblem is. But that console made me turn into a mad Nintendo fan and if it wasn't for that handheld, I would not have gotten my Switch.
Now, I recently got another Limited Edition 3DS which is from Love Plus. I'm a fan of one of the characters in the game in which her name is Manaka and decided to homebrew it. I main this console often from now on but when it comes to collecting physical copies and just preserving the good memories I had in high school. The FE 3DS does the work.
You better take care of that console man. Its actually really hard to get a 3DS, especially the "New" variant nowadays.
i cant help but notice that gura blanket
It's my mouse pad!
Having the ambassador program on it would be reason enough man, good on ya
That's your choice and you totally have the right to not mod that system. I only watched halfway through but I understand wanting to keep your original stuff as is. I was the same with my own 3DS (a pink 3DS XL, nothing particular) because it's my childhood console. If you have the opportunity, you can get another 3DS to mod it. I ended up modding mine because it started having trouble reading cartridges when I swapped them so I dumped all my games and saves in my console, and also had a little fun with other homebrew features.
Do what you think is right for you and what makes you happy :D
Edit: oh you already have other hacked 3DS's, good for you ^^
My original comment can still be useful for other people so I'll leave it as is.
I'm the same way, I don't want to mod my current new 3ds xl. I do want to get another one for modding but the problem is they're so expensive now. Hopefully one day I'll find one for a really good price at a pawn shop or something.
Just keep trying! Although some people may not like this suggestion, GameStop sometimes have 3DS's online and in store although it can be a little pricey. ALWAYS check locally like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Offerup, etc and you may find one at a good price!
Definetly get it. I have a few 3ds and kept one stock for the past few years until the shutdown of online and everything
My girlfriend is in a similar situation. I got my 2ds xl very late into the consoles lifetime (end of 2018), and didn't really get to experience that generation. So after modding my childhood wii, I decided to mod my 2ds and really enjoyed the accessibility and customisation that came with modding the system. My girlfriend on the other hand kinda already has everything she'd want out of her 2ds xl. She owns pretty much all the games she'd want to own, and isn't so concerned with "unlocking her system" or other various forms of emulation. And more power to her! But I am a little disappointed, just because I'd enjoy tinkering with it for her and going through the modding process again. Guess we'll just have to wait until I get the balls to buy myself a wii u and mod that!
Love hearing of other people who got the ambassador program on an aqua blue 3DS that THEY also traded in and wish they still had. Freaky to think how similar stories can be, so I FEEL YOUR PAIN
My original 3DS was sort of falling apart, still in decent condition, but circle pad was wearing out. My older brother was the one who convinced me to trade and upgrade to the XL at the time
I feel the same way about my 3DS as well. The Battery sucks, and I also heard it was possible to brick your 3DS during the process. If I'm gonna mod my 3DS and I get a warning that it'll be a good chance it'll brick it to the point it won't turn on again, no thank you.
Thats my same sentiment with my Wii U, galaxy 3ds XL & my OoT 3ds. They're too important to me to mod!
I did, however, ask my friend to mod my black 3ds xl lol
Having an extra is always good!
Obviously, you do you -- clearly if you wanted to, you'd just buy a spare 3DS or 2DS and mod that instead lol 🙂 When you softmod a console, you're forced to back up your NAND (the current state of your system prior to softmodding tools being added) -- that way you have a backup should something either go wrong during installation, or to revert the handheld back to its previous state with your apps and original games. It's impossible to brick your system to the degree it's a paperweight (when following the "3DS Hacks Guide" *hopefully* everyone uses) -- Hell, it's possible this exact 3DS unit was at one point softmodded, and it was reverted for legal purposes prior to selling.
I'm pretty sure a chimp could do it. Never modded a console before in my life yet I did my 3DS and 2DS in a span of like 20 minutes.
Could have just said "I already have a hacked 3ds" and saved us all time.....
Hey, quick PSA:
If you don't want to mod your 3DS for whatever reason and you have valuable content on the SD card, create a Mii in Mii Maker and export it as a QR code to the SD card. I know it sounds random, but you can actually use that QR code to bruteforce your way to getting the movable.sed which allows you to decrypt the contents of the SD card in the event the console itself becomes unusable.
Oh, btw, if you are modded, you don't have to do this. The NAND backup that was created as a part of the guide directly contains the movable.sed and much more.
Why aren't you modding your 3ds all of these things make it so much better blah blah blah.
You do you man, very cool case
I have My unmodified 3DS and That's I mean it's Allright
No it's not you can't ever get too those download only games you never got. Some are really good!
@@174Anime like what
@@pedroj234 not all 3ds games got a physical release. dillion's rolling western is a really fun action game, pushmo is a good puzzle game and im not sure you will ever find a game similar to weapon shop de omasse ever.
So unless you bought all these games your missing out!
@@174Animepushmo mentioned lets go
dog, it looks like you have all existing or to exist games on your shelfs back there so why even mod it
Yeah I have a pretty big Nintendo 3DS game collection
I think its good to keep it unmodded to keep the purity of it as an ambassador system, plus you don't have to deal with the risk of it being bricked and losing all of your data. If you ever want a system that is modded, the 2DS is pretty cheap nowadays for you to mod it. I have a new 3DS that I mod but kept an original model unmodded in case anything happens to my modded unit.
It's literally impossible to brick a modded 3ds unless you have no brain
@@CodyMKW I agree the chances are low, but it's never zero. If someone inexperienced tried to meddle around with it and didn't follow the instructions, it could still lead to a brick.
@@KennyTakanashiif you're incapable of following instructions yeah definitely don't try it but that's a personal problem

@@SuperLintendo64 Thanks a bunch!
I kinda get it myself, I really regret hacking my SNES Classic because I know that unhacked devices are never the same as devices that have never been hacked before in the first place from my experience hacking Wii U and Vita... and I find that if I give myself too many games, I end up giving myself choice paralysis where I can't get myself to play *any* of my games... so these days, if I have already hacked it, I will carefully curate a select few games that I *love*, which I will spend way too long thinking about usually when I could just be playing these other games that I'm not so familiar with and learning a new game (more recently I tried out Resident Evil 1 on the PS Classic... that one I don't really regret hacking though so... big PSone fan here, they really screwed up the PS Classic's roster with that one...), my latest mini console that I've gotten is the Sega Genesis Mini 1, and I have not hacked it for this very reason, I'm not familiar with Sega titles to begin with, so it's nice to have a good selection of games to try out~ :V
Anyway, the reason I regret hacking my SNES Classic is because the roster of games on the SNES Classic is already an extremely solid lineup of games to play and try out, like the only change I could feasibly suggest is adding Chrono Trigger to the list instead of that weird Kirby golfing game... I was also super late to the game in buying one of these, so I don't have the original cables it came with, and that's something I'm super nitpicky about, the console has to always always have it's original cables... so yeah, if I had a brand new SNES Classic, and knowing what I know now, I would never hack it~ :V
Theres no downside from a modded 3ds, its only positives
Did I say there were any negatives or downsides?
I wouldn’t mod mines ! I have over $400 worth of games on my DS I bought them from e-shop
you would be able to keep them though?
bro think he getting banned
👍🏼
It was nice meeting you again! I'll come check out the stream!
@@SuperLintendo64 Yes, Sir, thanks. I will try to be live tomorrow, good day. 🐲
Oh, to own the Felicia 3DS....
I fully understand why you don't mod it as an ambassador 3ds but i will however dislike the video and subscribe as compensation
But why??
@@SuperLintendo64 Yeah i changed my mind, liked the video now
I modded my 3ds emulator

It's up to you bro, if you don't wanna mod it, don't mod it :D
