  • I decided to do an in depth review on this book because I loved it so much. Below are corresponding review questions.
    Chapters 1-5
    1. Find Lithuania on a map. Find Russia on a map.
    2. Did you notice the area between Lithuania and Poland? Who has possession of that land?
    3. Why do you think the villagers protected Audra?
    Chapters 6-10
    1. What do you think of Lukas' story of the bear and the snake was really about?
    2. Why did the schools have to be secret? How would the Russian run schools have been different?
    3. Do you think Audra's parents should have taught her to read?
    Chapters 11-15
    1. What did delivering spurgos teach Audra?
    2. Do you think Rusakov will release Audra's parents if she reveals Lukas?
    3. Make a milk letter and see if it works.
    Chapters 16-20
    1. Why was traveling in the forest so important to the book smugglers?
