The idea behind doing a post-race analysis is to evaluate your race performance, and to determine what worked and what didn’t, where your strengths lie, and what needs tweaking. You may even find you’re doing some of this already without realising!
Yeah, at the end of the day, there is no point doing race after race without taking a step back and working out how to improve. No matter how good you are, everyone should be doing this. You’ll find Flora Duffy, Jan Frodeno, Alistair Brownlee and Lionel Sanders all doing this.
By doing a post-race analysis, it will actually help to dictate what you do in your day-to-day training, and allow you to get more out of yourself. So today, we’re going to be explaining what a post-race analysis is, what it should include, and getting some expert advice.

This video proves again how valuable training with a power meter is.
It sure can be a very useful tool in training

Cheers Tropical Llamaman glad you enjoyed the video
Great video! Would you consider doing something around the "burning matches"? Meaning, how do you know how many of those matches you have in you (e.g. pushing over FTP or alike)
Good and very helpful video - especially for beginners like me! :)
Great to hear Niklas!
Heather, great swim technique at 3:00! I will try that.
icing 8 thank you !
Heather, just saw something in your swimming where you could work on. At 3:00 you can see that your left hand is recovering very well, but your right hand is not. Hopefully, I was helpful :) Cheers
What should I do to get comfortable on the bike. Like getting used to cornering and the group aspect of the race. Is there anything I can do to train for that or is it just something that happens when I train on the bike. I know that training on the bike will help me get used to it but is there anything else I can do to get used to it?
NIVLAC_DJ hours on the bike will help and riding with others who are more experienced and skilled will bring your skills on much faster too.
cool video guys, witch power metre do I need then someone can give some good reference ? thanks a lot again !
Xavier audit there are loads on the market these days, but the one I have been using is from Quarq. They’re very robust and reliable
Check out DC Rainmaker. He’s reviewed most of the mainstream power meters and does fantastic write ups
wow yeah is great one i need to save a little bit on that one. thanks for the tips i know also i want to try smart turbo trainer with swift do you think that is going to help me a lot in my training ?
i have seen the turbo would also give me power output.
Hello! I've been a recreational triathlete (sprints) for a few years, but earlier this year herniated discs in my lower back which have changed my ability to run or get aero on the bike. With doc approval, I've begun training for an aquathon but was curious as to whether you have raced aquathon or aquabike, and if both which you found less rough on your lower back. Thanks!
its great to see phil mosley on gtn 😄
