And no, there's no one by the name of Robert who works at The Robert Axle Project..
EDIT: 4:03 Machining and anodizing are done by local shops around the Bend, OR area.

My experience in finding the Robert Axle Project was similar. My Surly MS through-axle wouldn't mount to my indoor trainer and the trainer's manufacturer didn't have a solution. Next thing I know I've got an incredibly well made rear axle that's got the exact right spacing and spacers. It looks fantastic and is much easier to fasten.
You the man! Hands down, why doesn't our world have more people like you... LIfe is good!
Wow, this is cool, tnx for discovering this and doing a video. Hard to believe how complicated a lot of things have gotten in cycling. Best Paul
Thx, Paul!
Thanks for bringing up such underrated topic and making to simple and easy to understand. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
I dunno how you don't have 50k+ subscribers but I'm looking forward to watching you get there. Nicely done, and such incredibly high quality shooting, editing, and overall instruction/content!
Oh man, too kind. These are the comments that keep me motivated!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. And thank you for workshop disco lighting ideas.
Just got a new Trek Counterpoint SL7 with this thru axle. Your site is the only one I found that explains it Even Trek's own video just glosses over it, with no detail on how to use it. Thanks so much for putting this out there.
this is awesome info thanks for sharing!!
Thx for the feedback!
I found these axles from my local bike shop. Needed it for me Diverge E5 to mount to my indoor trainer. A perfect fit. I highly recommend their product.
I’m glad I ordered mine from them wish they made more colors
This was very helpful. Was looking for a good resource on what i can use to replace the axle handles on both ends. Thank you
Yea. I think focusing on "workhorse" components is something overlooked
Hello, is just discovered your channel when looking for some Diverge reviews a few days ago. Suscribed because the content you produce is so good and fresh compared to what we are used to see ('m thinking baout the disc temperature video). Your work deserves more imho
Keep doing what you love and i'll be there to watch and support :)
🤘🤘🤘 too kind! Thanks - I will stay the course.
Perhaps not cheap to some but I like the clean look, lighter weight, and tightening consistency with a torque wrench.
🙌
EXCELLENT!

Great video
Thanks!
Loving the presentation and content - one thing I do not get:
If you are riding any axle close enough to scrape its tip on rock or else, where does that leave your pedals, shins, even cranks when those are passing the same object?
My guess would be ruts, rocks, etc. Don't know exactly, but I can say that my rear axle handle has taken some abuse
@@TheBikeSauce I generally agree with a 5mm allen doing a better job (if not racing, of course) - but that abuse - especially on the rear wheel clamp - I find much more likely to having happened while not riding the bike, i.e. loading, storing, maintaining it...
The axles are higher than any BB (unless you build mini-velos like me :-P ), and the Pedals protrude to both sides way more outwards than the lever of the axle.
Who remembers when a QR was a QR and the only standard was QR? 🤔. 😁😁😁
I’ve now got one bike with Axle and it’s 🤬🤬🤬
When I was a shop mechanic in the early 2000's -
Customer: "I need a new QR axle"
Me: "The short one or the long one?"
😆😆😆
Great video! Which one did you end up needing for your Diverge? (I have the same bike, not sure what the hub size is)
Rear is 12x142, front is 12x100, but just put it into the axle finder tool for the rest of the details
Did you shave any grams by replacing stock axles on Diverge?
Not on the Diverge. About the same as stock.
Saved a bunch on the Hightower though 👍
Hello, I have a Wilier RAVE SLR, which axle should I order?
Anyone have, or know of, a good video for taking an old 1990's MTB, and turning it into a through-axle?
Hi, I would like to know if I could use it to replace axe of my carbon frame. I'd like to install a rear rack.
So what’s how should I measure the length when looking for a replace the axle. Is it the length including or not including thread?
"That a lot of AXLES." Oh- thought you said something different there for a moment.
Hi brother iwant Ask u ineed axel for roue arrière cube réaction c62 but idont know correct référence 😢😢😢
I needed 3 different thread pitches for 2 bikes %^$#*&
😆
I like RAP but they are aluminum and you can shred or strip out the head easily.
Easily??
If you don't know how to be reasonable about engaging/disengaging ANYTHING that has threads; you to bigger problems to worry about.
Nice video. You sound alot like Brendan schaub though.
Now all they need to do is put out some sweet anodized TA’s 🤓
Dooood! Great idea
These are ALUMINIUM? I can not imagine how the threads can hold up.
If you're not needlessly swapping tires, they shouldn't be too bad.
I want to add a cargo trailer. I have a Masters Degree. Looks like I need an effing Doctorate from NASA U. WTF, Robert Axle?... sh*t :(
50-60$ for A SINGLE FRICKING BOLT??. So how is the price justified?? Somebody needs to come along and sell these things for 10$ a piece and leave Robert in the dust. It's a single fricking bolt!!!!!
🤦🏻♂️
