    I was so confused on how to build my first decks as a new player and this panel really helped me understand the dynamics of deckbuilding. Thank you Wizards of the Coast for creating such an amazing game for me to enjoy with my friends. Free kodak black btw

    I play magic for about 2 years now, and the game keeps teaching me new stuff, so to me, the number one rule should be to just keep experimenting with different decks, different play styles and too just have fun.
    This is one of the best games i ever played.
    Thank you, Wizards of the coast.

    My answer to those people who won't trade you that Mythic or any card in general is, Go online and buy the cards on Ebay or Amazon from a well trusted and well rated Source, is always been a good way to do it! Unfortunately so many people don't wanna Trade certain cards, so sometimes an online purchase is Necessary! I bought 4 of the Original Avacyn Angel Mythics as well as hundreds of other card playsets as well online back in the day, Sure Buying individual cards can sometimes be expensive, and the wait time might be a few weeks, but the Payload of actually receiving the cards and putting them in your deck or decks, is a good feeling, and I never let individual people rob me of that feeling of a completed deck! :) online sites are always a good way to turn to if nobody wants to trade or sell or give their cards to you! :) so yes in fact (You coulda finished off that Sliver Deck) Just requires a MasterCard or Visa or Paypal and sometimes other Cards or e-wallets but it can be done for sure! :) , if for some reason you are truly short on the actual Cash side to purchase the cards, then sometimes local Friday Night Magic tournaments sometimes have a Freebie section for cards, that you can Grab, then Trade and Barter, and or sell along with your extra cards and build up to a Better cash reserve or cards to Buy or Trade for that Particular card or cards! :)

    Magic can be tricky for the brand new magic players, good luck to the ones getting into the game.
    Watching the best players and the best decklists will help you understand how cards synergize, but don't crack your wallet trying to build a deck you're not sure you will understand or even like... You can play on programs like Magic Workstation for free to try decks. It helped me quite a lot to improve, calculate mana curves, ... and of course find a lot of opponents to play against which is the best way to improve at the game.

    Does anyone have tips for building a scry deck?

    • @nomukun1138
      @nomukun1138 Před 8 lety

      (Wew, I wrote a lot... hope some of this is helpful, and I hope you enjoy playing!)
      Scry is a very powerful filtering mechanic, but it doesn't bring you closer to a win. Your deck will need some other plan to win, which the scrying will make more efficient and consistent.
      Decks that use powerful but non-flexible spells like board wipes (Day of Judgement) and counterspells (the classic Counterspell, or Dismiss) and creature kill (Murder) benefit a lot from scry. On the other hand, creatures (which can always attack or block as you see fit) and burn spells (Lightning Bolt, which can defensively kill a creature or offensively damage the opponent) are already very versatile, so you don't need to draw them in the perfect order to use them well. Therefore scrying usually isn't necessary with those cards.
      However decks with Landfall creatures benefit from scrying since you need to draw the perfect mix of creatures and lands to be the most powerful. The Theros Temples (Temple of Abandon, Temple of Mystery) are great for landfall decks.
      Decks in the Modern format featuring Delver of Secrets use lots of scrying (mostly with the card Serum Visions). The game plan of those decks is to quickly play cheap but conditionally powerful creatures, then clear the opponent's creatures and other threats out of the way with counterspells and bounce spells. Scry is important in those decks because you'll need to draw many different card types to win.
      Many other decks could benefit from scrying, try throwing in a few Sigiled Starfish or Temples if you want to experiment.

    • @danieldeckard3370
      @danieldeckard3370 Před 8 lety

      +Andrew Turner Thanks for the advice! However, the scry deck I use centers around the combo of "Knowledge and Power" along with scry cards and burn spells.

    • @Kettwiesel25
      @Kettwiesel25 Před 8 lety

      My scry deck has 2 time sifters and an omen machine as win-conditions. Deceiver of forms seems like a good include or perhaps you want to go for cards with kinship, but then you do get pushed into a tribe.
      edit: Grenzo is huge with scry, too ;)

    I am new to magic and I ask myself all the time:
    --> WHY don't you make the cards easier to understand?
    So many times the same function of a keyword is differently called.
    That is confusing and blocks the gameflow.

      My nine year old got it in a month. Reading the card explains the card

    • @schonsospaet22
      @schonsospaet22 Před 6 lety

      yes, reading the card explains that card but does not describe what interactions can or must happen with the others on the battlefield.
      It took me a long time to find all that out, p.e.g. when mutavault dies, it will not return to be a land ;-D
      Unfortunally there is no offical website with rulings from the makers of the game so my opponents can just find any result in the web- the true and the wrong ones.

    To me theres two ways to build a deck: the fun way and the winning way. When I watch people who play to win at fnm it doesnt look like the same game me and my partners play....it doesnt even look fun at times and the games dont last nearly as long as my games do

      Have you seen the alt-win cards Felidar Sovereign or Coalition Victory? Not exactly compassion, but you can win without fighting your opponent in any way.
