  • Despite looking like they finally have a car fast enough to fight for the championship, Ferrari look like they are miles off Red Bull when it comes to actually winning races. So, are they cracking under the pressure of fighting for a world championship?

I think Ferrari brought Charles in near the end of the race at Imola with a front wing because they could get a black and orange flag and then have to pit within 3 laps probably making things worse than they already were. Kevin got pulled in Canada because a tiny piece fell off but the big piece that might have fallen off (but was staying fine at speed) his front wing and teams immediately started complaining, rightfully so. So I don't 100% blame them for bringing him in, they realistically, had no choice. Pit now and not get a black and orange rather than 3 laps down the road and getting rid of any progress Charles made.

5:34 It's not completely fair to argue this way. When Verstappen was 46 points behind after Australia we all thought it would take him six races to climb back the deposit. In reality it only took him three races. The championship has had some big swings already and I'm sure there will be more reliability issues or mistakes by the teams.

Of course, when he doesn't have a big chance to win, then the race goes smoothly on all ends, case in point Montreal last weekend. Nobody in the F1 grid deserve a break more than Leclerc; not even Latifi, the Mercedes, or the Alpha Tuari, despite their crappy circumstances.

There was loads of hype around the ferrari and they immediately looked quick right at the start of testing.

They called Leclerc in to the pits in Imola not primarily because of a front wing change, but because his tires were flat spotted. Going for an extra 10 laps on used and flat spotted tires would put him at risk of a puncture, or the car would be undriveable at that point, and even if it that wasn’t the case, he would still probably end up in P6.
