once heat of the weld enters the grade 8 bolt it is nolonger a grade 8 unless you restrengthen it .
It always amazes me some of the po dunk back yard stuff like this iam the one that has to dice and slice someone's stupid and do it right the welder Dave
by threading and taping the plate, you wouldn't have to weld the box side saving a shit load of unnecessary work......just asying
I get a feeling you're going have an oil leak in that steering column!
