    Tip #6. Record flights when possible, edit the content & share the content through social media. Editing allows one to review the flight & by posting the content it could perhaps help someone out. (Though it should NEVER be a replacement for flight instruction.)

      Agreed! Editing my videos helps me debrief the flight and I post them for that very reason :)

      I have a friend learning he's lower spectrum dyslexic, I have elements of it too. It can be done, chat about it with potential flight schools/your flight school to get a feel for how they could help you. I'm sure that there are ways to help with the ground school aspects - must have been done before, I wonder if one of the forums could help?

    Don't start in August or Sept! haha, have a 2 hour lesson later but my last 3 from last week, have been cancelled due to weather. That said it's probably chance anytime of the year. Any previous navigation experience is useful. I used to do sea kayaking (also quite wind dependant and easy to get lost at sea) and I do a lot of walking or trail running now. Regarding the 6 pack, totally agree that the flight simulator helps. though I think MSFS2020 should be called Garmin G1000 simulator as I usually just set the autopilot then let the game play itself...

    • @TheMicroPilot
      @TheMicroPilot  Před 3 lety

      I agree and yes it's just Sods Law with the weather. Previous nav experience does deffo help and I'm jealous!! I'd love to have FS2020 myself but I only have a mac haha.

    Nice one Tom, very professional, good advice too. Looking forward to your video with Ben, my buddy flies at the same club as Ben.
    Not sure where you are based right now Tom, but isn't Enstone about 40 mins flying time from Kemble (Ben)? And there's another You Tuber, Adam, flies from there now too. Depends on the slant of your video, but Ben is a microlight pilot as are you, you're also a helo pilot and Adam is fixed wing GA pilot. A cool video if all three commented on each type of flying and chatted to camera and each other about it?

    • @TheMicroPilot
      @TheMicroPilot  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you! I will check Adam out and see if he's up for it. I am based at Leicester so we're thinking of Turweston with its nice cafe and it's about 40 mins flight for us both. I will get down to Kemble at some point. I'd like to see all the 747s!

    • @musoseven8218
      @musoseven8218 Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Tom, yes Turweston would be good, three airfields around there, Hinton in the Hedges and Finmere. Turweston being the most glamorous of late. And it would give Adam somewhere to go to as well?
      Kemble? My local too, it's like Heathrow with all the Jumbo's there LOL, they're becoming like spoons (every home has them). Bittersweet really, provides local work etc, but sad to see old buses like that end up in bits. My mate said to his instructor, when taxing past some of the airliners, ".....this is like the MS Flight Sim missions at Oshkosh"... his instructor laughed and agreed. They dwarf a C42 or Eurostar. LOL!

    • @TheMicroPilot
      @TheMicroPilot  Před 3 lety +1

      @@musoseven8218 Haha yes, I'll have to come see for myself! Only difference is MS2020 doesn't have any helicopters... Yet

      @musoseven8218 Před 3 lety

      Looking forward to new version of MSFS (2020), a few that I know are waiting to see how it plays out - but it does look stunning. Looking forward to helicopters too - I like testing myself with helicopter flight sims, I did a few of the tests at a Middle Wallop open day, and I did okay, I was younger then LOL. Even on a flight sim, it's still stick and rudder time, even better if more realistic too. I think that Popham has a C42 Simulator?!

    Now then Tom what would I like to see on your channel? ........ ummmmm....... ummmmmm..... Oh! I know,-how about those two bits of totty that you had sitting next to you in the last video on here more often preferably with their taps out LOL!!! Sorry mate I am rather crude aren't I or at least that's what my Mrs keeps telling me (the old bat) LOL!!! Seriously all of the stuff you talked about was very sound advice especially the Airband Radio and with me everywhere I went I would actually spell "signs" in supermarkets out in my head phonetically, also make good use of the home flight simulator for procedures such as HASELL and BUMPFICH so it becomes second nature, and, to pass the exams definitely download from the internet or write to the CAA and get them to send you all the potential questions you could be given in the exam and YES they have to do that don't let them tell you otherwise. Great Vido as always mate!!!

      I had a Uniden UBC-125XLT Handheld and it worked perfectly. There are cheaper ones out there if it's only aircraft you want to listen to. I had to get a better antenna than the standard one in the box to get better range.
