This is why I love CZcams. Today's generation probably doesn't know these wonderful and talented people or think, like in the case of Mr. Montalban, that he was only Mr. O'Rourke or Khan. Wonderful that someone has uploaded these timeless clips of history!
Ricardo Montalban certainly had the moves! Several episodes of Fantasy Island also showed him dancing, riding horseback, and a number of other performances. He was an amazing man.
I din't know Ricardo Montalban danced so well...I didn't even know he danced at all! All I can say is WOW!!
In 1953 he fell off his horse while filming a western. It restricted his movements, so he turned to dramatic acting.
I forgot Montalban was a dancer. And, such a polished performer as well! Too often, the women are given the most interesting moves. It's great so see a performance where a man can shine, too.
Ricardo and Cyd are in a cllass all by themselves. What a joy to watch these two dance. What a shame that they did'nt do more.
They actually danced together in quite a few movies - and maybe as much as she danced with Fred or Gene....
They played an important movie The Renegade Mark.
Hollywood today never create such beautiful scenes as these...
You really get the feeling they enjoy dancing together!

She was trained classically in Ballet which shows with all her dance shoots - incredibly elegant women something you simply don't see today.

Cyd is a great dancer but couldn't take my eyes off Ricardo. He moves were so athletic and beautiful
Talent in those days was so deep. Montalban is always Khan to me but I never, ever saw his earlier work. What an amazing, multifaceted talent. Shatner never stood a chance.
Ricardo was great dancing this number, his arms are in classical Spanish flamenco style most time, his jumps incredible.
She dances well, but he is the star at dancing here
yes I luv Cyd but I have heard other dancers say - its hard to do but Montalban simply takes the spotlight in this dance and keeps it
@@MTknitter22 So true!! I usually can't take my eyes off of Cyd everytime she dances with a partner, alone, or with a crowd, she has all my attention. But in this piece I was between her not looking at him in her passages when he simply said in his gestures, "Look at this beauty I've got here" and I kept having glimpses of his infuriating (read fiery) provocative jumps and circles, definitely had all my attention there. Love it!!
Had no idea Ricardo could dance. He and Cyd were wonderful together.

I didn't know Ricardo could dance. He was one of my all time favourite actors when I was young. So handsome. Now I have found this recording I will be returning frequently to se more.

Ricardo was also an accomplished pianist and he sang. He and Ms Chariss did 3 movies together I believe and a Fantasy Island in Season 6

Notwithstanding certain earlier comments here, I fully agree with you! They were, for the time, incredibly sexy in this piece! Given the sensuality of their on-screen unions, one would think they were an item! The truth is they were both happily married to other people. Used to be a clip here from an awards show that had lovely Cyd pushing Ricardo onstage in a wheelchair to accept an award. That wasn't so very long ago. They were the most devoted of friends. Grateful to hear from you!

Yes, I fully agree with you varadero1839 - The lovely and talented Cyd Charisse was fully devoted to her husband, Tony Martin (a wonderful singer). She and Tony were married for sixty years upon her passing at age 86 in 2008. Tony would live on for another four years, before joining his beloved wife (in spirit) in 2012, at age 98.
Really they were gorgeous big star Cyd and Ricardo may rest in peace with angels now .

Cyd was married to Hollywood/Singer Tony Martin, and Ricardo to beautiful Georgiana Young, 1/2 sister of Loretta Young. Cyd died before Ricardo, but once upon a time there was a beautiful clip up here on YT. It showed Cyd pushing Ricardo in his wheel-chair to receive an award. Somewhere, they'll go on dancing! Hollywood knew how to dress all their stars, even the newbies like Cyd! I think she'd only been on the MGM roster for a couple of years before this movie. It was Ricardo's first in Hollywood, and they became life-long friends. From what I've read, "just friends," and nothing more. They both married other people and stayed with them until their deaths. I've posted between 7-8 clips with them; they're amazing together! Not so much a publicity thing for myself, I just think you'll enjoy seeing them together. Thanks so much for your message brwnhoney!

Gawd, Ricardo is a great dancer! My dad, Frank Veloz, said so of his friend, Ricardo Montalban, whom ALSO he said was "the strongest man in Hollywood" My dad coached him in tango for another film, but NOT for this film, which seems to indicate Ricardo had years of familiarity with flamenco or Pasa doble, and it also seems he's had some serious jazz dancing training. What do those Jazz and ballet folks call that step -- a double saut de Basque, but I know I ain't spelling it right. When I first heard it I thought it was double soda box, lol. Dang, WHAT a great talent. And, of course, Cyd Charisse was the ultimate female dancer/actress EVER, IMHO. My close contenders for best and most exquisite and most SEXY- beautiful female dancer/actress/singer ever, besides the unbelievably lucious Ginger Rogers, are Ann Margaret and Joey Heatherton! humahumahumahuma, lol. Two best "frankie and Johnny" routines ever, first prize to Cyd Charisse humahumahumahuma in "Meet Me in Las Vegas" which my Dad took me to see as a little kid, but kid or no, WOW, JUST WOW! And then, as a young adult, I saw Joey Heatherton do it on "Laugh In" WOW, JUST WOW! lol! But then I think of Ann Margaret and YIKES!!!!!! Good Lord! and, well...humahumahumahuma! Where do they FIND such fabulous females? Oh, but I almost forgot -- my all time championship choreographed musical routines, both involving Cyd Charisse, of course, once one "the Band Wagon" with Fred Astaire, one in "Singing in the Rain" with Gene Kelly!!! My final HUMAHUMAHUMAHUMA! And WAIT!!!! the "Bandwagon" routine with Astaire at his most hilarious has the lagniappe of Fred doing a voice over of Raymond Chandleresque tough guy private eye speak. What a gloriously funny piece, hahahahahaha! Just amazing. THEY JUST DON'T MAKE 'EM LIKE THAT ANYMORE, movies or dancers or UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. THEY JUST DON'T! our current culture SUCKS! I grew up in the magical Raymond Chandler land in the fifties, dear, dear old West Hollywood on Alta Loma Road, one block west of La Cienega, abutting the sunset strip. Ahhhhhhhh, the memories of that colorful time and place that like Dinosaurs or nickel beers...ain't never coming back. My next door neighbor was Bruno Petaletti , his son Sylvio and I best friends, whom owned the legendary night spot, La Rue, up gravity hill on the Strip, a furlong to the port side, where Bugsy Siegal and the Black dahlia used to hold their fabled trysts.

Brilliant I just love them both.My favorite dance by her though is the one from the film "deep in my heart"the tune, one alone dancing with James Mitchel whose also one of my favorite dancers, those days they sure had class.It sure is hard to believe that they have all gone now,they look so vibrant when you watch them on the screen.I sure miss them all.

Think this film was from 1947; Ricardo's 1st US film. They were friends for life since 1st they met. Sadly, many years later Cyd literally wheeled Ricardo onstage to receive an award for lifetime achievement. It used to be here on YT. I have several others here featuring them both. @@varadero1839 Ricky, as his friends, including my ex called him, was NOT a trained dancer. You'd never know it from this clip. I saw him interviewed, and he said he couldn't dance, but he would always give it "flair." All the actresses he worked with, especially Cyd, loved him.

Ricardo was a fantastic dancer himself, I believe he was married to one of Loretta Young's sister. I don't recall they ever had children, but he was a handsome guy and he danced with Cyd in Feista. I loved the dance routine, very beautiful and now I know that la Bamba, is really an ole song cuz Little Richy sang in and it was a big hit for him. But alas, he died in a plane crash along with the big bp, and I can't think of his name, "that'll be the day, when am gone..." one other famous singer. Richie should have listen to his conscious and not that of others. He'd still be alive today (mabye).

First, you're welcome! When I 1st saw 1 or 2 of their movies I thought they were married, or similar. No such thing, even though they performed so beautifully together! They both married other people, and both couples were very happy for over 50 years. Some time ago there was a beautiful tribute to Mr. Montalban, and he was propelled onstage in a wheelchair by Ms. Charisse. I don't know if it's still on YT. Beautiful Cyd died about 7 months before Ricardo in 2008. Mr. Johnson, please look for some of the other clips I've posted with these 2 incredible talents!

As a dancer myself, I am seeing some actual Flamenco moves, but a lot of made up moves as well. We have to remember when this was made. They took in each artists strengths and used them. This dance was meant to be fun and have a bit of flavor to I. It succeeded!
