Fun fact: They actually decreased the weight of the Austrian Oak since noone except from Big Z could even lift it once.
Facts
I wish they didn't. It could be one of those mythical lifts where only the exceptional can do. Imagine after 50 years of the comp and the log has only been lifted by 5 people or so. would be epic
It would kind of mess up the points for the competition though - savikas would come first and everyone else would be in joint second place on 0 reps without any way to distinguish who was better then each other

Boring fact for you all: Big Z and Big Loz always used to scare me when I was younger. And now its apparent they are some of the nicest, friendliest people you could meet.

@@craigwheeler4760 yes. And it would be the same nowadays. Only Iron Biby could lift nearly as much as him, but is absolutely worse in every other event.

Big Z is my favourite strongman. He was never arrogant. He is just very competitive, has a strong work ethic, and is very gifted. Though past his prime he kept on competing for years. I watched his entire career and the fortitude and perseverance it took to win so many times and was impressed.
His apollons Axle World record at the Arnold classic, he did 8 reps when the record was 5! He did not even use his legs! Pure shoulder power!
That was a phenomenal event and he breezed through it
I was sure that would be number 1
However, there´s another man that did 8 reps, Brian Siders at Arnold´s 2008, it was shocking to me that a human man made of flesh could actually tie Zavickas
Also did 188 Kg Axle for 5 in 90 seconds which to me is more impressive then his 166*8
Big Z is my distant relative and I've looked up to him ever since I was little. No one, in the history of Lithuania, has ever made everyone proud to be Lithuanian as he has during his years in strongman competitions.

Not only Žydrūnas can be proud on the name of the Legend or of the Star. The performances of the Lithuanian strongmans team were also stunning or even dominant. Blekaitis, Brusokas, Lalas, Petrauskas ... the land of Monsters.
Big Z is my favorite strong man... and in my opinion the greatest of all time.

Not mentally though. Great strongman, but not the smartest guy around. He promotes not wearing masks, he believes that lizard people control the world, that covid doesn't exist and so on. If you could speak Lithuanian, you would understand. He's an absolute joke for the Lithuanians now.

Zydrunas is a living legend.
Lemon water, tomatoes, grilled salmon, some cardio then a dip in the lake. That's what made Big Z.
He eats way more clean than most Strongmen, relaxes plenty in quietude, sleeps early. His longevity as a top tier Strongman seems more plausible to me after watching his channel.

The Legend of Big Z will last forever.
That number 5 (those squats) was absolutely mental. I’ve watched it 10+ times since. Just phenomenal to be able to rep that weight so many times.
Well this video has mistake about that it tells it was 320 KG but it was 329 KG for 15 reps.
the biggest achievement these guys have (and i include Brian Shaw and others here) is that they utterly inspire me and tens of thousands of others to better themselves , these guys create MASSIVE ripples in a worldwide pond of positivity , my respect for these men is immense for that reason

Nobody has dominated the sport of strongman for as long as big z did. The most impressive performances of him is from the Arnold classic a true strength event which actually tests your static strength. And big z won it 8× . Truly impressive

@@aslaksockcraft Everyone competing was at this years Worlds, they got their chances. But we didnt get to see Zydrunas because he was called up to compete only few days before Worlds started and now because he injured his knee.

I'm the same age as Big Z so have been a huge fan for a long time. I hope he keeps doing his thing for years to come, but even if he retires tomorrow he'll always be one of, if not THE greatest of all time.

@@williamkelly5689 Mateusz possibly but I just can't see anybody being so dominant with the strength in depth these days. If training, recovery, diet and strength in depth of competitors were back then what they are now, I genuinely don't believe Mariusz, Big Z or Shaw would have as many titles as they do. It's just getting harder to be dominant and that's why I can't see it. Even 4-5+ years back, things are changing rapidly.
You’re right, no one else could compete at this level, in this era, and consistently place so highly like Zydrunas did.

When it comes to most sports, theres always a debate about who is the greatest of all time however when it comes to strongman, Zydrunas is the greatest without question.
Great video Team Loz! There’s almost too many incredible Big Z moments to chose from, but I’d probably go with the Austrian oak for reps too. Excellent series.
He literally does every competition, he just recently did the Shaw Classic and he was fantastic!

Met big Z and watched him attempt a 230kg log. Huge guy and chugged along like an old boat in the arena, but you were in aw of the man. A true legend of the sport.

One of my all time favorite strongmen and people...
I don't remember the year but it was at the Arnold Classic and the one arm dumbbell press I think had just been introduced the year prior and when it was Zydrunas' turn he just smoked I think 9 reps with 200 lbs the first ones went up so easily with no leg drive whatsoever and best thing was that in the audience was Arnold himself and he just stood there shocked with jaw on the floor (as was basically everyone) what an awesome moment that was.

my personal best moment was the keg toss at europes in 2013. An event I've always loved to watch, and the only time I've been there to see it live. Big Z just breezed through it and left the crowd stunned. Was great to see :)

Loz, I LOVE and totally agree with your Number one. I commented somewhere else recently, that while his 228 is still insane, but that FOUR reps with the Oak in one set in contest is still the most insane feat of overhead strength ever.
Wow the 80 meter farmers walk. That’s like,(in American football 🏈), scoring a touchdown on a kick return from the 13 yard line with a defensive lineman in each hand. Insane!
