I am more into heavy metal music, but I always have liked the Offspring. I am 38 years old and started a PhD last year. Believe me when I say Dexter Holland is one of my inspirations to start this endeavour at this age. I already put his name in my dissertation acknowledges.
Brains and talent seems unfair to the rest of us. People should only get to master one thing so that those of us who can barely walk and talk simultaneously, don't look so bad.
One of my favorite dexter lore stories that I can't find evidence of is; While at USC he was about to graduate or something and a professor said something about being super excited about going to an upcoming concert and somehow it was found the concert was to see The Offspring. Dexter spoke up and some how he had gone through the whole semester without the professor realizing Dexter was in his class. Turns out the Professor was a huge fan and had seen them live multiple times. I can't recall where I heard this but its one of my favorite stories even if its not true.
Greg Graffin, Dexter Holland - both university degrees, both highly intelligent, both neopunk legends, both great interesting person, both my fav band leaders.
The Offspring is the band that inspired me to pick up a guitar and learn! This is old, but I don't care, it still holds true and I know some effort went into this video!
My oldest sister went to College 17 years ago. She started studying Biology and I told her she would be like dexter holland. And guess what, she is Ph.D Molecular Biology
Wow, this is a cool mini bio documentary about Dexter! Interesting stuff. Well put together! :D I love this band, and Dexter is indeed an awesome guy overall.
good job !! this is really fun to watch and his over here is partially the reason why he became some kind of a rolemodel to me when i was growing up and nobody was there... been listening to the offspring for 15 yrs now and still do love this band their music their attitude and this amazing frontman :) and most interesting indeed ! thank you for making this!
Maynards lyrics definitely reflect that he’s WAY smarter than Dexter. Listen to Lateralus... like come on lol what has Dexter ever written that’s even remotely smart?
DEXTER HOLLAND : HES THE SUPERMAN OF THE ROCK N ROLL WORLD AND IN THE COLLEGE WORLD OF SCIENCE AND MEDICINE :) GOOD JOB . LETS ALL FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS , MAYBE :)
Life is a journey, not a destination. He is a perfect example of this.
Exactly
bingo ! enjoy your trip !

He's just completing the side quests

This man was soooo smarter than people think.
This guy has both sides of his brain on full throttle. A newfound respect for Dexter Holland.
Delivered him a pizza once. We spoke for a short bit. My lucky day.

Hahaha just picturing him working in a lab with that hair is hilarious.
carschmn and if had a mohawk.
@@Serrot304 Not that far from Einstein is it? Just a little shorter.
hes like a main protagonist of a movie
My religious mother got on to me so hard for listening to a band trying to cure HIV.
what lmao that's so wild
So religion prefers to have a virus around that kills thousands every year. Typical religion thinking without logic
Greg Graffin, Dexter Holland - both university degrees, both highly intelligent, both neopunk legends, both great interesting person, both my fav band leaders.
Puts a whole new meaning in Dexters Laboratory!!😂

Dexter is a legend

I love this band and dex so much
Dr Dexter Holland is the definition of awesome
Piano song playing over dexter beating the fuck outta back street boys dolls is something I needed today
I love how they played the piano version of self esteem at the end
This is why I love this band so much.
Hahahaha; Dexters Lab! Good one!!
That's why "The Kids Aren't Alright" is part of the TMB's repertoire. Dr. Holland, a made man of Troy.
i don`t know english and i don`t understand nothing but self esteem on piano in the end is very great!!!
Dexter inspired me to take Phd and remain punk rock.

Nice arrangement of Self-Esteem at the end! Who did that?
Dexter: the only person on earth that can pilot a jet while playing his own best selling album in the cockpit to land at a lab to help cure AIDS.
Even Dexter Holland is more of a scientist than Bill Nye.
Man, this guy's impressive
This video inspired me to do my homework
Dexter is amazing person!!!
multitalented!!!
1:31 man I love his answer
YET DID....LATER
Major props for using the outtro from Smash at the start, always loved that
Reminds me a bit to my other favourite singer, Bruce Dickinson
Bruce is a certified commercial pilot, is that right?
@@DanielVerberne Yes. He sometimes flew Ed Force One (Iron Maiden's tour plane).
My dad called Dexter Holland thick, so I showed him this... XD
dummy thick
He also has an IQ of 170.
B1cycleRepairman ...but he probably wasn't using it when he bludgeoned those Backstreet Puppets.
Júlio César M. True, you don't need more than average IQ to realize that bludgeoning Backstreet Blow-up dolls is awesome.
And it "perfectly" fit the mood of Woodstock.
Or supposed mood.
Dexter Holland's IQ is 160
Hes so fucking awesome
Almost flew over the bush ranch in a plane with an anarchist sign on the tail. Fucking hilarious
Between him and Greg Graffin, punk is genius lol
Dexter is fucking inspiring. I'm entering USC as a freshman this year and just graduated at the top of my high school class. Weird lol
He is so inspiring
Well, I guess Dexter had One Fine Day at the laboratory
Aww... Dexter.... I love him
Love you Dexter
Dexters Lab :D
God bless you man. Love your hot sauce.
Still so cool!
joe rogan should have him on id be really intrested
na Joe Rogan sucks
Yeah dude that would be awesome
A Renaissance man like Maynard James Keenan, but smarter.
@Kevin Nix people always running to suck Maynard off
Probably friendlier at least
Maynards lyrics definitely reflect that he’s WAY smarter than Dexter. Listen to Lateralus... like come on lol what has Dexter ever written that’s even remotely smart?
A true tool fan.
I would do anything for this man
I would do ANYTHING for you beautiful
do you have any source or link for the ending song piano version of self esteem?
This video is so awesome! :D
Playing in Woodstock, getting PhD and also be a pilot.... All in the same lifetime? what the actually ffff....
I agree with the title of this video for sure, but there is QUITE a bit of stuff that was left out about him.
Hearing Kevin and Bean makes me sad. How did kroq blow up that show? I will never listen to that radio station again as long as i live.
I will always love the offsprings
Dope video thanks.
dexter holland is god
1:18 / 6:21

3:29 IS THAT EVANESENCE ON THE WALL
Even their bandname OFFSPRING defines Dexter Holland's profession. As a molecular biologist. B-)
What is the song at 4:12??
Change The World off Ixnay album

very cool!!!
DEXTER HOLLAND : HES THE SUPERMAN OF THE ROCK N ROLL WORLD AND IN THE COLLEGE WORLD OF SCIENCE AND MEDICINE :) GOOD JOB . LETS ALL FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS , MAYBE :)
Old Skool fan. Who knew?
Song at 1997?
"Kick him when he's down". I think that's from the Ignition album.
Can one actually live a fuller life
Damn science made one awesome song
he knows et very well
he has inside infomation
for a microbiologist I can't really say his vocab perplexes, especially when he describe a beaker still being ''friggin hot as hell''
Glasnost88 How he speaks in a casual environment and how he writes about microbiology are entirely different things.
dr. dexter
what song is that at 2:09? for 1997?
Kick him when he's down
Think it's time he did a Dos Equis commercial?
His real name is Bryan... so is this why he got the nickname "Dexter"... ?
Cause he's a Poin-dexter.
Offspring was doing the “millennial whoop” way back before those annoying bands 2005-2015 right?
Persi nelle notti Torinesi 2010
now i see why did he got that drumer fired.....
I bet Dexter got his covid vaccine
That was God trying to come home
*Stunning standard definition
I like florida
Buckaroo Banzai
I’m so glad he got rid of those dreadful braids. They looked so bad.
He had diabetes type 2 diabetes
wrong, the most interesting person ever is Ernst Jünger.
Ah so he worked for bill gates.
Take it like a man
You call this a documentary? it's just a bunch of clips mashed together with little semblance of coherence or continuity.
Lol no he is not.not Even close
