"...but how do they skate?" A Review of the Asics Gel Flexkee 2.0 shoe c/o Dead Air Radio

Everyone who listens to our podcast knows we are huge Asics fans. Given a chance to try the new Gel Flexkee 2.0, and also having tried the 1.0 and 958 versions, I felt the urge to do a review. It is an interesting shoe I am often asked about, and im here to list the positives and negatives of the shoe. How does it skate? Take a look and find out.

Ngl you’re really making me want to try a pair. I will say the all black sole blend with the 2.0 looks a lot more welcoming when comes to the sole/ shoe design

Nike ecue and url were ridiculed when they came out. They skated great. So I'm assuming the same with these.
Japan rocked the ecue and url hard!
Side note. I've been watching trioligy non stop, especially Gino, Lavar and Kareem parts so your outro reminded me to watch it again.😂

As Always, brutally honest and we love it. Surprising to hear the lacing changed the shoes feel and aesthetic that much. I might have missed it but are the shoes tts or should I size down?

I took .5 up. I’m a 9 and wear 9.5. I did have it in text during the video.

@@deadonarrival2882 nah. The 1.0 had a function for the offset lace thing and had an original silhouette. The 2.0 look like a last resort busenitz hybrid with a shell toe. They should’ve kept the original design. But hey! That’s just my opinion. Maybe everyone else will love it!

@@ishwav I do think the 1.0 looked more original. This one looks more like a take of a traditional shoe with features of the 1.0. I like it better but would rather a Japan pro any day

Every pair of shoes I wear Must have a rubber toe cap. Walking through snow, wet grass, a drizzle... my shoes aren't just for skateboarding. I want my feet to feel as awesome as can be. Squishy soggy toes really harsh my mellow.

The asic slip on looks proper especially in all black, the soles on this model looks too technical which drives the price up IMO.

i like them. def look like an indoor soccer shoe, which have always been popular in skating. do you think you could flip the tongue forward but under the laces?

Currently skating a pair of these and that’s exactly what I did. The tongue can tuck between the seams on each side and you can tie the laces over the tongue. Makes them feel a bit more mellow especially if you lace them through the eyelets. Great shoe and could probably survive a nuclear bomb.

i just get irritated when soles wear out way before the upper. it's on me lately with the way i skate, doing more curbs and foot scooting stuff than ollies and flip tricks.

i just meant generally. i probably would prefer the look of the outer ones laced, but i hate broken laces. so if they give me a way to avoid it i will take it.

It makes sense and I would love to do it, but being an older skater and these things being bulletproof, I’m not sure how long these would take and I really enjoy skating in the Japan and gel vickka. With that said, I’m up for a challenge
