Staining a Fence with Pump Sprayer | Yard Transformation Pt II | Natural Cedar on Privacy Fence

- Here we continue my yard transformation with staining the fence Natural Cedar'. I used a basic pump sprayer with Ready Seal and it worked quite well. I made the mistake of trying to go over newly sprayed stain again in the beginning, but it needed time to absorb before anymore stain would make a difference.
This application was the first coat. I will go back to add additional coats to get it a little darker.

Neighbour: Honey why are all your trousers yellow?
There’s a bit of overspray, yes 🤣
007ing that fence 👌🏽
Love the goldeneye 007 music theme😂. Might have to go play it now
The nostalgia is killer lol
For super thin water based stains that will last a year at best, with lots of runs ans streaking. Other than that, its a great idea.
Ok
How’d the neighbour like the overspray on their house?!! Lol
Good outcome though.
Lol. Don’t show him this video. Luckily it comes off the plants- nothing else, though!
Hello, stain is heavier than water, how did you manage to spray ? Did you dilute the stain ? Is that water based stain ?
Thanks for the question. This particular stain works in pump sprayers with no dilution necessary. I’m not sure if it’s water based or not but it’s pretty thin.
Dude you gotta saturate that better, and use a brush to go bacl over it and even it out while getting it deeper into the wood
Dude it’s a 20 second clip. It was given multiple coats and back brushed
@TheDIYrealtor highlight your reply then, so viewers know ✌️ I got none of that from the clip itself
💯👍🏼 first time watching very interesting. Did the 1 gal cover the entire fence?
I needed about 2-3 but 1-1.5 could have done it
In my Mr Myiagi voice "both sides?"
Lmao
Wow! He did all that with one pump!
🤣😂
Right😂😂😂
Did you pressure wash before staining?
Not pressure washed, just hosed it down really well with a garden hose
Covered his yard , but sprayed it over to next door like crazy
Lol! Did you delete my last comment you little snowflake? ❄️ love how you can come to other people’s pages and talk shit but have to delete their responses. Notice how I leave all you shit talkers posts up. I love it.
hola ese tamaño de lata ajusta para toda la yarda? ☕️
No, I needed about 2-3 gallons/cans!
😄 👏
Thanks!
I got a staining project for the first time what advice can i get
Sure! 1) test the stain on a separate piece of wood with maybe two coats prior to staining the whole thing to ensure it’s the color you want. 2) if using a pump sprayer like this make sure to cover up all surrounding areas because it gets everywhere 3) using a brush or sponge or rag takes longer but you have more control over the amount you’re putting on and where it’s going 4) mix the can up really really well before staining 5) make sure your project is clean of debris and dirt and has no residue or anything that will interfere with it adhering. And finally, take your time! Good luck!
I am getting ready to stain my deck and porch. I have a gallon would i need to add water if putting in my sprayer?
According to this type of stain you don’t, but I don’t think it would hurt anything. And you will probably need to do some back brushing to avoid runs and pooling of stain in cracks and joints.
@@TheDIYrealtor OK thank you.
No back brushing?🤔
You can actually see a paint brush in my back pocket. I thought I would need to as well, even though the can says you don’t. Turns out they were right and you don’t need to!
Can you use regular paint in this sprayer?
I don’t think so.. but a decent paint sprayer for DIYers is around $100-200. I usually still mix about 10-25% water in those, so I just don’t think the sprayer could handle paint thickness. The stain is quite thin.
What brand of sprayer? That thing is really putting it out.
Home Depot! They make two, it was the slightly more expensive 2 gallon
whatever brand ur wife is
does the spray bottle get clogged after a few days, if not used ? Does it need to be cleaned if not finished the same day ?
I definitely would run a stream of water through it just to be sure, but I made sure to buy the sprayer that was ok for staining. So perhaps not, but I would just to be sure?
@@TheDIYrealtor Thank. Yeah, probably best to load it up with soapy water, spray it a few times and leave it in there over-night.
Better use the roll at least
$48 a gallon Home Depot.👍🏼
🎯 $45 + tax here in FL!
$99 for 5 gallon homedepot
how many gallon it took to finish your fence ?
2 gallons when using efficiently for about 40 ft of 6ft tall fence
Materials Used
5 Gallons - Natural Cedar Stain: amzn.to/455MFM2
I just put up brand new fence. Did you do any pre wash before you stained it
How much stain did you actually use for this section?
Yea! A light rinse but nothing major
Adjust the color on your phone to whatever color you like then .
How many feet of fence was that?
I forget exactly, but I want to say about 40-45 ft at 6’ tall
@@TheDIYrealtor OK kool..Thanx!!
Do you still wipe it off
You can back brush it but I did not, the product says none required. You can see a brush in my back pocket but I only really used it on the fence posts and areas that were hard to get to.
Is that how not to paint a fence?
Wouldn’t know I’ve never painted a fence
That color looks terrible
Its not dry
Glad you like it. When are you moving in there?
@@HBSuccess who tf asked you
Who tf asked if u liked it??
@@user-ox2zs7bf8u I did
Best product sadly communist california wont let it be sold here
I’m in Florida where everything is legal. How come it’s banned there?
I believe its the chemicals in it there just full of it the homeless people crap all over the state that goes to the ocean when it rains and trash everywhere
Looked like a lot of inconsistent color to me
Cool story bro.
yes wood grain is inconsistent
So much wasted lol
It really is. I learned a lot doing it.
