2 years of watching videos on nose related and this person is the only one addressing rare issues like severe deviated septum which requires to shape the L-Shape of the septum and such as the bump holding the skin etc. Your understanding is just too fascinating and admirable.
Amazing explanation!!! The best one I’ve watched..Thank you Doc!❤
Marvellous explanation on whether to have surgery or not for a deviated septum. I have been told by a surgeon that i need one but i can breathe ok. Its hard living with it but the thought of having surgery makes me very nervous.
This doctor explains things really good.
Amazing explanation, Doc. Thank you.
Very good video, thank you. I got a lot of info from this
Had my Septoplasty and Turbinate reduction done yesterday.. I have no pain and slight swelling. The worst part has been the stuffiness and cleaning up the discharge.(like you have with a sinus infection) I have the splints in, no discomfort or pain..Today I feel fine, still dripping a little.. For the best success and lowest risk of ENS/exterior membrane damage to the Turbinates have the microdebrider procedure done, the cauterize/radiowave methods have a history of issues (have a complete understanding of each method)...I don't regret having it done..Do your research on the Surgeon and the way they reduce the Turbinates and you'll have success ..:)
I get my surgery in two weeks and I am excited for it. ^_^
How long did the congestion last?
Update please
Thank you for confirming my suspicions about whether to get the surgery. I've been on the fence and may try a few more OTC remedies before giving it more thought.
Thanks for posting this! I finally got my surgery date to repair my extremely deviated septum. I had major trauma to my face (centered on my nose of course) and now, do not breathe out of my left nostril. I also suffered some "tattooing" from hitting the pavement so hard.. There is a bump too. I'm just excited to breathe normally again. I'm 41,and would not be messing with this if I really didn't have to. Your video was very informative and I appreciate it.
Hope it goes well! Be sure to reply back and let us know how it went.
Oh Man! I am waiting to hear the plan on my problem. I stuck a crayon up at 5 yrs old. After all the mothers on the block could not get it out a doctor thought he shoved it down my esophagus. Nope! It sat up in my nasal sinus, way up, for 20 years. At 25 I almost chocked on it. I am 67 and one side is completely blocked now from a deviated septum and hypertrophic turbinate. The sinus headaches are every morning. I pray it can be repaired as I have also lost my smell. On the sinus CT scan you could see one side is blocked completely. I am fearful of pain after. I have a tiny nose too so if it were to become smaller that would look very odd.
Hey Dr. So thank you for the class very insightful now my question would be, should I be worried about an Acute, displaced nasal bone fracture and will it be a problem later in life if I don't pop it back into place. Thanks for your time
Dr what if you cam breath through your nose but have had chronic sinusitis and rhinocytis and chronic migraines that havent improved w conventional treatment. Couldn't surgery help?
I’m having deviated symptom surgery next month. I am so nervous but I really hope it fixes my breathing.
One simple question. I had my nose broken last year 2022 and i got it straightened with some metal thing but yet i dont feel any airway through my nose. If i get that surgery will there be any space left inside my nose cause its said it can collapse if there is some space left. I meant like inside the cartilage like gaps or something?
Breathing problems, facial pain, nausea, bony spur on the floor, that was why I had the septoplasty. I just had the septoplasty not the turbinate reduction. I also do the nasal spray and Claritin for allergies. And I had allergy testing and really need the shots. The mri showed me super blocked (due to allergies) and the deviation prior to surgery. Don’t wait 24 years like I did to get this done. And if a doctor pushes turbinate reduction and you don’t want that put it in writing. My doctor was awesome and did not push the turbinate reduction but I know some do. He is also the second surgeon because the first one didn’t believe me.
My problem is, I live in Canada and work in the Arctic. I fly a lot. This past turn around, I realized a few things: I haven't been able to breathe through my nose in the winter for years. Too much fluid build up from the cold. And second: I got a sinus infection up in the arctic, I assume...because I haven't been able to pop my ears since my flights back a month ago. I bought one of those nasal valve things, and dang those are nice. Feels great. But you can't chew with them. Life's rough. (yes, I have a deviated septum, in case people were wondering). I also have a pretty small nose.
Doctor my problem is just nasal congestion on one side most of the time, but the rest is fine, should I do the septoplastic surgery?
Ive felt that the one side Inever breathe better has gotten worse with time and gets worse at night. Also Im always pickin my nose bc I feel like any little thing in that side obstructs the airflow! So bc Im always pickin that nostril Ive gotten so many cold 😢
Hello there, I’m a physician working in primary care. Here’s a question I really don’t know the answer to. If a patient has slight nasal asymmetry either bc of the tip or septum, are you ever able to achieve perfect symmetry? Are there any methods to ensure symmetry? Thank you!
There’s no such thing as perfect symmetry. 100% of people have some degree of asymmetry in the facial skeleton, which leads to the asymmetries that we see in the nose and other areas of the face. Rhinoplasty surgeons use a multitude of techniques to try to get the best symmetry possible, whether it’s changing the axis of the dorsum, adjusting the tip deviation, or some other asymmetry. Despite being a relatively small structure, the nose is a 3-D structure laden with asymmetries, and perfect symmetry is simply not possible.
Will the procedure make my voice sound better? I feel I sound quite nasal as if I contantly have a flu. I want my voice to have more resonance.
Babs
Isn’t the lack of O2 over time a concern for dementia though? I’d say it would be necessary for healthcare
My nose is slightly deviated and on antibiotics & steroids , but just finished and am still having this severe headache on my left upper skull . The scan results picked up some mucous build up in both left & right cavities next to my nostrils. What's the cause of this headaches?
Same problem
I have difficulty breathing through one side of the nose, Should I do Septoplasty?
My nose is straight i got it fixed after i got in a injury and my cartilage is kinda straight and a little bit crooked down the nose where are the nostrils and its even barely noticeable inside or the outside of the nose i wanted to ask will there be any empty space left inside the cartilage or the whole nose as well the tip too i also wanted to ask what will they do to my nose [After i told the shape and the cartilages shape too] will they remove the deviated portion or trim it? Or reposition it or make a few cuts to straighten it and relax it? [I dont have any symptoms except nose deviation]
These are excellent questions to ask your surgeon.
@@DrPeterVila Okay i will ask but how long does it take for recovery
@@tqdarkyou aren’t very bright are you? ASK YOUR SURGEON
What if it is causing a smell to come from your nose?
I’ve never been able to breathe through my left nostril, does that matter
Please consult with an ENT doctor to know the answer.
I got hit by a car and broke my nose getting my surgery tomorrow hopefully I can breathe again
Anyone have a slightly deviated septum & are able to breathe “like” normal?
Dear 😢Doc. Mine causes SLEEP APNEA. YIKES
It doesn’t cause sleep apnea it just exaggerates the symptoms. Getting your nose fixed won’t fix sleep apnea which is a chronic illness
I got kicked in the nose. and I have my nose crooked.

not breathing issue but what about bone and facial pressure behind nose and septum and L area?
