      In good faith of customers and nostalgia. Maybe. But in real world finances. no. It was losing money and they had already opened up 2 new studios to shoot shows in by the time they closed it down. By closing the nick hotel aswell, it seems they were taking a hit financially and needed the cash flow to go elsewhere.

      Not a "mistake" in the slightest. It was simply a victim of the failed "Hollywood East" experiment that just did not work well for Central Florida, and for that, they had no choice, but to close it.

    I think they should bring back Nickelodeon Studios as a museum. If the props weren’t dismantled they would be used as memorabilia from what Nickelodeon was like back in the day. Then there could be a animation studio showing people how to draw their favorite Nickelodeon characters. Also a interactive lab where there is Gak, and slime. Lastly a gift shop, and the characters doing meet and greets

    Well Nickelodeon is starting to realize their future is in the past and have been banking on nostalgia as evidenced by the new theme park they opened in nearby Jersey. I hear it sucks, but it's a step in the right direction. They have attractions based on Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, Invader Zim and even Legends of the Hidden Temple.
    Nickelodeon would be wise to try to create some new attractions based on that 90's aesthetic. That mishmash of neon colors, strange patterns and shapes. Also to revisit the shows people love.

      @ZemeckisTEN Před 3 lety +1

      “Also to revisit the shows people love” What do you think they HAVE been doing over the past 4 years? The Legends of the Hidden Temple TV movie reboot, Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, the Double Dare reboot, the All That revival, Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, the Are You Afraid of the Dark? miniseries reboot, Blue’s Clues & You?, etc. They’ve all been made since 2016, and they’re all really great. They’re respectful to their respective original shows and don’t feel like soulless cash grabs unlike Cartoon Network’s garbage reboots. In fact, Nickelodeon has MANY more reboots and revivals coming soon. An Are You Afraid of the Dark film, a Rugrats revival, a Clarissa Explains it All sequel revival, a Drake and Josh revival for older audiences, a Danny Phantom revival and a Zoey 101 revival, among numerous others.

    What a shame, i was there in March 2004 when me and my family were vacationing in Orlando and we spent one of our days at Universal Studios. It was really awesome because i'd been wanting to go after seeing it at the end of the channel's game shows for so long before. Seeing the Slime Geyser erupt in person was so exciting, and needless to say even though the studio wasn't as hot as in earlier years i'd enjoyed being there just the same. Somewhere i still have a long shot photo my mom had taken that day of myself and my little brother standing out in front of the main building with the big Nickelodeon sign on top visible in all it's glory, though of course i don't know where exactly it is right now.

    Those who were born and live during the early 1990s really were among the ones who have good childhood. On TV, that is.
    Nothing lasts forever after all, including memories which will slowly fade away from the elderly who get to enjoy these.
    Already age 30 here, I got to enjoy a lot of what the 1990s, 2000s and to some extent what the 2010s had to offer.
    The Nostalgia feel is so real.

I was born in 84 and the oldest shows I can remember watching was You Can't Do That On Television, Welcome Freshman, Fifteen, Sharon Lois & Bram's Elephant Show, David the Gnome, Little Bear, and The Noozles. There were more tho, I just don't remember them all off the top of my head. But yes I liked Eureka's Castle. I always remember especially liking the Fish Tones. I thought they were cute and cool but remember feeling bad for them they were always stuck to a wall and couldn't move. 😅 At the end, everyone would come out of their places in the castle to celebrate and sing the end song together but the Fish Tones just always sing from where they were stuck. 😂

    1:23 It was called "You CAN'T Do That On Television." It was a show with many short skits with pre teens and teens but the twist was if at anytime during the show, an actor said the words "I don't know," green slime would suddenly fall on their head from seemingly nowhere no matter what was going on in the skit. Also, they could not say the word "water" or the same thing would happen except with water instead of slime. It was fun to watch because you never knew when someone would get slimed or doused but you always knew it was coming at some point in every show (often even multiple times). So it was a comedy sketch show with a messy twist. Made it funny and interesting. That was probably the earliest Nickelodeon TV show I can remember watching and I believe that was the show that started Nickelodeon's infamous synonymity with green slime.

    Back in 90s though i knew their logo from some programs they offered us on our greek channels and some other ones,i first understood about them with the gak stretchy blue slime i bought.I immediately recognized their orange logon in that star shaped plastic container that had this blue slimy substance.And after that i knew that they had a real close connection with slime & all.As it seems they messed it up even worst by their slimming after so many years of success!

    They should have turned it into a nickelodeon museum. They could have kept the sets from certain shows (Clarissa's bedroom, Olmec from Legends of the Hidden temple, Agrocrag, etc) for photo ops, showed you props from different shows, have an area that constantly streams older shows. Seems like an opportunity missed.

      Yes, Total Non-stop Action (or TNA, for short), later rebranded to TNA Impact & eventually just Impact Wrestling without any ties to its prior TNA history under the questionable leadership of fan-turned-entrepreneur Dixie Carter once she took over from the Jarretts ("Double J" Jeff Jarrett & his booker dad Jerry Jarrett), filmed for years on the Orlando sound stage set, changing what had formerly been the Extreme Arena of Nickelodeon GUTS ("D-d-d-do you have it?": czcams.com/video/THuOzYo51EY/video.html ), home of the radical rock The Aggro Cragg (and its multiple variants), into The Impact Zone (which was TNA's home base arena) from 2002 to until after the 2nd turn of the past decade when owl mascot athletic company Anthem Sports ultimately bought the often struggling license out from under those who had taken over upon ousting Dixie from her position due to her poor decisions repeatedly costing TNA/Impact loads of revenue during her tenure as the premiere leading executive & relocated much of what is the current-day Impact Wrestling product to its own HQ in Canada.

    One of the bad things making the worst of the changes is the fact that the companies like nickelodeon wanting to look like the others.By seeing disney changed to a program more close to a live action "sitcom" style,they thought this would be the best for them as well.I was never a fan to have other mimicking something they weren't originally to tell you the truth.They stopped to be fun because they thought that would be even more in the wrong ways like most of the times!

    Nickelodeon came back in 2007 to shoot My Family's got GUTS, so technically that was the last production shot at USF. Soundstage 18 was used in 2005 for the "Where Evil Hides" haunted house, which was the first dual HHN house. Soundstage 19 was used for Steve Harvey's Family Fued in the 2010/11.
