- Anthony Dirrell (33-1-1, 24 KOs) defeated Avni Yildirim (21-2, 12 KOs)by technical split decision (96-94 X 2 for Dirrell, 98-92 for Yildirim) for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight World Championship in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes from the Armory in Minneapolis. Referee Mark Nelson stopped the contest in the tenth round due to an accidental clash of heads and a cut over Dirrell's left eye with the decision going to the scorecards.
"I was upset with the stoppage because I wanted finish the fight like a champion," said Dirrell. "It feels great getting my WBC belt back. We want to unify against Caleb Plant or any of the champions. I'm just going to go home, take some time, talk to my camp and then we'll go from there. If the Benavidez fight comes calling then I'll fight him.
"I thought I was winning this fight by more than what the judges had," added Dirrell. "I was jabbing him and he was applying some pressure, but that's just what he does. I won the fight though and that's all that matters."

This fight is a good measure of how good Canelo is. He destroyed Yildirim in only 3 rounds and made it seem like it was extremely easy!

@@rickflair6232 Well the difference between this and Jack (Although that should've been stopped) is that it was on his forehead, not his eyelid. Degale was just beside the eyelid, but still very bad. Eyelid cuts get stopped much more often because it's a very dangerous place to get cut and can lead to eye damage

@Chevy Chaze A majority of the time the blood in the eye part comes down to the fighter more than the doctor. The doctor asks a simple question "Can you see?" puts up a few fingers and asks you to count how many, kind of like Marvin Hagler vs Thomas Hearns, but if it's in the eye and it's a bad cut the boxer will barely get a word in edgewise. Plenty of guys fought with fractured or broken orbital/cheek/jaw/noses and every time it has come down to the boxer wanting to continue or not. I've seen cuts stopped for less and fights continue on for worse. Michael Katsidis vs Czar Amonsot he had brutal cuts under and over both eyes (Somehow ruled headbutts) but it still saw the final bell. That was an outrageous one for me

I’m from USA 🇺🇸 It was a close fight that Dirrell was behind in. I had Yildirim by a round at the end of 10 rounds. PBC commenting and Judging be so bias. I was satisfied with the unofficial card rounds 1-6 that’s exactly what kind of fight it was a close back and fourth fight that Dirrell was trailing in. Then notice how the second time they showed the unofficial card through nine rounds, they had Villega’s Scorecard read 87-84 for Dirrell. He had Dirrell winning rounds 7,8, and 9. GTFOH. I gave Dirrell 10th round but he damn sure ain’t win three rounds straight no where in the fight especially rounds 7,8, and 9. I like Dirrell but he did not win this fight and if he fights like this against David Benivedas he will have his first loss by K.O. on his record. 🤷🏿♂️
