Alex I’d strongly advice you start cooking your food, it’s less processed (low sodium), plus home cooked food taste better, and you can save so much money. I know you’re a busy guy but taking some time to plan what you’re going to eat for the week and prepping is important.

    Three words:
    Learn to cook.
I don't mean learn a few techniques and follow a recipe. I mean learn how combine foods you find on sale to come up with good tasting and balanced meals. The process will most likely go alone like "oh I don't like this or that combination and spices" but you have learned something. Invest in a vacuum sealer then stock up and freeze when you see a decent sale. Food at home is, without a doubt, the easiest way so cut down expenses.

  • @aardfay
    @aardfay Před rokem +19

Cooking is how you save tons of money.
Back when I was struggling with money, I was already only cooking, but I had to cut down on expensive products so I checked how much money my favorite meals costed, and the cheapest ones were less than 1€. Prices are probably different by now but the fact that you called a 7$ meal cheap... you gotta do the math on how much you could be saving by cooking.

I was on vacation last week and my bestie and I went out to eat like every single day, sometimes twice a day because... yeah holiday and frustration lol. Before the vacation, which was planed one year in advance i had some unexpected vet bills, and well inflation decimated everything pretty bad as well. Now I am afraid to look at my bank account lol. I suppose there are many people who feel like this right now. We treat ourselves to things we dont really need because everything hast become uncertain and stressful and expensive so we say "f*** it I am broke anyway". Now that you have an overview of your expenses you can see where to cut back, and when times get better the stress-buying gets better too. So don't beat yourself up to much, it happens to a lot of us. It will eventually get under control again :)

Since you like the minimalist stuff maybe you would like a Tiny house? its not for everyone I live in one and love it. I hate the stereotypical layout of tiny houses so me and my family made mine custom. Its 28x12 which is pretty small for a house but stereotypical tiny house folks may say its too large. We are still working on it while I live in it but I estimate that when it is done I would have spent less than 25k (which im proud to say is cheaper than my car). I love your finance videos.

My guy it's time to learn some recipes and cook some food at home lol
It's not even hard, just start with one or two protein sources/main courses and Google how to make them. And pick up some potatoa, rice, pierogies... Whatever to make alongside it.
Oh and pasta is a good one too, super easy to make good pasta!
Don't overthink it, you can save toooons and most of it isn't even that time consuming to make.
Or you can throw a whole whack of stuff into a slow cooker in the morning and just let it cook itself all day without you having to touch it!
No reason to be eating out that much, especially using delivery apps. I used to have that habit too and I've freed up a ton of money cooking at home

The serving size is 4 so you should have plenty yummy leftovers to stretch your budget. It also keeps you from buying extras in the store you really don't need.

Alex learn to cook simple satisfying meals. When you cook, prepare double or quadruple and freeze with or without cooking; then you can have quick healthy foods almost as fast as grabbing a candy bar. You can cook 2 or 3 chickens or a roast, then pull off part of that meat and have 4 different dishes. You can season that 4 different ways after the meat is cooked with salt and a bit of onion.

Once a month they take out a sum you decide on - it goes out of your account - taxes get pulled - and the rest goes into a checking account. The sum you pick would be the minimum you expect to make. I end up - at the end of year either getting money back after write offs - or I owe like 2-5k.

So self employed here that does not pay quarterly……. Yea, not the best at planning ahead. Anyways this year I’m budgeting better. I was also spending a lot of money eating out. I now spend about $80 a week on food. Going to the grocery store once a week and cooking at home and eating leftovers has allowed me to save quite a bit of money. I know it sucks…. I absolutely hate cooking but it definitely helps. Just trying to not owe thousands and having to sell a bunch of my crap to pay my taxes at the end of the year because that was definitely me the last couple months 🥲🥲

I think meal planning would be a good option for you. There are plenty of meal-planning youtube videos that will teach you how to make large batches of several different meals, and they can last in your freezer for like 3 months or more.

Not to be an AD but if you don't like cooking just get factor ready meals. 4.89 a meal, and they're actually delicious.

Tbh food is just expensive these days in general. I homemake all my meals and my grocery budget is definitely more than 300$ a month. Just the cost of eggs rn makes me wanna stab someone, lmao
