  • It came, it saw, and it was quickly superseded by the bigger 890 Adventure - the KTM 790 Adventure though is back for 2023, offering riders a more cost-effective (and A2 compatible) route into KTM adventure bike ownership.
There are a smattering of upgrades for the new model too, including revised electronics and internal engine updates, boosting the on and off-road capability of the machine.
To check out the new model, we headed off to Sweet Lamb in Wales, for a short on-road tour and off-road taster experience.

I think the 790 captures 80 percent of what its bigger 890 R sibling can do. The savings can be spent on accessories and luggage, better riding gear, rider training, and better vacations and holidays.

90% I would say. You could actually spend 3000 on top notch 240mm Tractive suspension, get it on at least the same level and still save 3000 on an 890r… (in euro’s that is)

I've been vlogging mine for a couple of months...overall impressed, its very practical, and can't find anything to fault around build quality as-of-yet. Like how it could be on-road biased, but really its still great off-road in that unique KTM way.

@@markjones3425 just over 3k! Not exactly zero issues...little glitch where the key doesn't engage the electronics...a little wiggle of the key and it then fires up and then it doesn't happen again for a couple of weeks...weird! Only happens every so often and hasn't actually had any impact. I have a warranty claim submitted for it in case it gets worse later. Hasn't really shaken my opinion of the bike, satisfied it's been put together well, and only have to fear the gods of random bike issues.

Did the old model come with all the aids included?, because that'll bring this bike to over 11 grand, and without adjustable shocks..that will cost you extra...and 40-50 mpg is not much to shout about. An interesting proposition, but maybe not quite the bargain that you were banging on about.

annoys me that they couldn't just make the sussers adjustable, 43mm stanchions too? my DH race bike (bicycle) had 40mm and that weighed about 40lb so i fear for bottoming out and flex, the bike will immediately need revalving for anyone who wants ride anything more than a boggo fire road made of loose gravel, anyway, it is a low cost option but would it really have hurt to add comp and rebound....Gorgeous bike, new design is amazing, so close - signed, ktm fanboy

About time they launched something that was almost affordable. Love the idea of Low tanks, low weight and 95hp and fantastic that they added the heavier crank. If they'd put the good, or adjustable suspension on this and offered a non-electronics, cable throttle version, I'd definitely be looking at one in the future. I can't wait to sling a leg over the KOVE 800X. Kove is the only innovator in the market currently.
