Russian Girl's First Time in SINGAPORE 🇸🇬

  • We took my Russian sister to Singapore for the first time! We love traveling to Singapore and spending time here, this city state fascinates us. So when planned to travel south through the Malay peninsula, we decided we had to stop in Singapore and show this incredible country to my younger sister, Lera, who recently flew in the southeast Asia from Russia.
Welcome to Singapore! The city state is located on the southern tip of the Malay peninsula and one of the most affluent countries on Earth. Travel in Singapore can be expensive but it is a city we feel it is impossible not to fall in love with! From the rich cultural heritage, the incredible blend of food & cuisines, the architecture and the friendly locals, Singapore is one of a kind! Singapore is a unique blend of Chinese (Hokkien), Tamil, Malay and even British culture. It is famous as a financial hub linking the economies of East & West, for some qwerky (& slightly bizarre) laws (like no chewing gum!), as well as, for being one one of the greenest cities on Earth. Is Singapore the greatest city / country on Earth? Let's find out! It is certainly one of our favourites to travel to! 🇸🇬

❤ Dear Matt and Julia, I've been watching almost all your videos but I hardly comment because I know you're bombarded with comments. But the girl traveling with you I had no idea that was your sister Julia, I thought it was one of your followers but it makes sense because you look alike although she's a little taller than you she's adorable and so are you and Matt. Just wondering when you and Matt are going to settle to your own place and start a family, just curious 🧐😂 love you both and God bless and keep you all safe and happy in all your journeys. The modern city, the heritage old towns, the shopping, great museums, the nature reserves for hiking, the many beaches (ie Changi beach, Sentosa, Pasir Ris Beach), the amazing parks, the list goes on n on! You may want to half the dark sauce the next time, it's meant to be used sparingly cuz it can get quite salty and overpowering the nice eggy flavour. One more tip: Don't miss Jewel at Changi Airport if you haven't seen it! It's not in the transit area but it's worth travelling to the airport just to spend half a day there shopping and chilling out. See you next time!

U might like to know Singapore is more attractive to live in than for visiting(since sg don’t have vy big size lands compared to other countries). But anyone who have lived in Singapore would know everything works & run efficiently in the country (things get done fast unlike most countries esp if u compared to many of our neighbouring countries :)). All thanks to the efficient & non-corrupt Govt that makes the country vy desirable to live in long terms. That explains why HALF the populations living in SG are foreigners(out of 5.8 millions populations, only 3.2 millions are citizens or NEW citizens).
Average foreigners living in Singapore are 10-20 yrs not 1-2 yrs only. ❤❤
Singapore also has the highest average salary in asia(Japan been behind Singapore esp since sg alrdy became the most expensive country in the world for last 8yrs). If u compared the avg salary to other asia & Southeast Asia countries, eg Singapore is about 6-7 times higher than Malaysia, 5-6 times higher than china & about 9-10 times higher than Philippines etc. That explains why many lower income jobs in Singapore been taken up by foreigners from Malaysia, Philippines, china & India for the last 2-3 decades.❤

Lera, I love otters too. Here in the northwestern U.S., we have river otters as well as sea otters. Once when I was swimming in a mountain lake with my Dachshund Bob, who looks like an otter when he is swimming, a passel of river otters swam toward us on their way down the lake. I think they were curious about Bob, so they swam over to us to get a better look at him. For an incredible few minutes, the otters looked at Bob and me, and we looked back at them. Then they calmly swam on, allowing us to follow about 15 meters behind them. It was magical!

      Linda my dear,
Why don't you give Singapore a try one day? Sure, it is not the place to be if you're intent on being a radical activist, narcotics peddler, litterer, or gum chewer. Indeed it has lots of rules that don't seem to impact on my daily existence one jot. But if you are keen on walking about as you like in relative safety, especially if you are a woman, then the lion town is hard to beat. Some of its highlights include great inexpensive arts, gardens, food, and public transport. The genuine functioning multiculturalism is astounding. Now sure, the accommodation is a tad expensive, but we are not talking London or New York prices here.
Maybe think about a week rather than the two night stopover that is so common. This will give you time to get beyond the tourist hot spots. Don't miss the Botanic Gardens!!!!

@@markjones2781 Thanks so much for your thoughts and suggestions. Matt and Julia did show that diversity and I would really like to visit if and when my husband and I travel again to SE Asia. The Botanic Garden would be on my list for sure. Love flowers/trees and nature. Appreciate greatly your taking the time to add to the Singapore clip. Merci!

I'm commenting just one minute into the clip. Singapore... have NOT been. Await a lot of convincing! Smiling. You know I've said I'm not a fan of big cities, so here we go. This looks exciting! Must say Hong Kong was jaw dropping... so this just might be the same. Love your enthusiasm. Let's go.

Way better than Hong Kong… building are well-maintained, streets are very clean. Importantly, most can speak English and another language, so it’s very easy to navigate your way and ask around.

Hey - great video! I was in Singapore in May and you went to Arab Street like me and you showed Anatolia Turkish and Lebanese Restaurant, in your video (the place with blue sineage). Me an my mum visited on our last day in Singapore and we got such bad food poisoning in there that my Mum needed oxygen on the plane back and I was a complete mess too. Some of the worst food poisoning I have ever had. The cabin crew warned us that they might have to declare a medical emergency but luckily we swerved that one. Can you imagine?! It was like something out of a movie. It was quite an expensive place too but I guess everything is in Singapore to a large extent. Julia is so funny!

Harriet and I always enjoy Singapore. One of our favorite cities in the world. The food, The landscape. We love it. Every chance we get to go to Southeast Asia we have to stop and at Changi
Airport in Singapore. It is indeed the best airport in the world. Hope Lera is enjoying herself on this trip. Is this her first trip out of Russia ? As always, a great job. 👍 Sending you much love

Next time you visit Singapore, if you want to check out the main Malay area, it's called Geylang Serai. It's a little way out from the downtown area, but you can get there by MRT. The nearest stations would be Eunos and Paya Lebar. The Geylang Serai Market is a place you can go to for some Malay food, and there is also a night market there during Ramadan, since most Malays are Muslims. And the entire area is decorated for Ramadan too, just like how Little India is decorated for the lead up to Deepavali.

I just went through craziness to see if the transaction worked. It looks like it did. Oufff. Look forward to all your stories and experiences. I so wish you both as many adventures and travels around the world as possible. My husband and I (50 years together!) are still on the road or on a plane (hate that) to new places, too. Your vlog/blog/clips/stories are so inspiring, interesting, funny and loving. Thank YOU. Next time you're in France, let me know. It would be awesome to meet you! Best, best, best and hugs. Linda

As a local I must say the half boiled eggs are better eaten with much less dark soya sauce like just 1 tea spoonful n has to be dark, not light soya sauce - the beauty of it lies in the tinge of sweetness besides light saltiness. Dipping the crispy KAYA jam (coconut+egg+Pandan ) toast into the eggs makes the combined taste heavenly. It’s a popular healthy breakfast packed with protein to start the day. Hope u enjoy it next time you try
