    The fact that the A8 (released in 1979) can go widescreen in an effortless fashion still amazes me after 40 years.

      Unfortunately, A8 users apart, people are not aware of that awesome feature, especially nowadays that videos are based on emulation and not real CRTs.

    so, apart from the expanded (?) memory, is this the way it'd be running on unmodified hardware?

      Exactly, stock hardware. Final Assault runs on 64KB, this new version needs a 130XE or a machine with 128KB.
