I'm not much of a film critic, so there are really only two things I care about when I watch a movie: the plot and the visuals. Logan had a masterful plot and masterful visuals, and that's all that matters to me.
@@tperfect7241 But to answer your question, that was a semi-serious question. The Dark Phoenix Saga is about showing Jean's slow descend into madness. But people seems to think it is about the X-Men fighting Jean or that Jean is the main villain of the story. A lot of misinformed opinions in both the video and the replies.
People like you piss me off. You act like x men 1, 2, first class, days do future past, deadpool, and Logan werent good. I love the mcu, but quit acting like rhe x men have beennin bad hands.

Yeah both of them were great especially Michael. I didnt care about x men UNTIL I saw first class and fell in love with his portrayal as magneto and understood why he is ranked either the best or second best marvel villains
You can find the lack of motivation in the development of this movie just by looking at every character, their low costume design, and how fast the storyline goes. It was like watching a group project of rookie actors dressed in Forever 21 and Pull & Bear just trying to get their final project done lol At least the effects were good, I guess 🤷♂️
Not true. This movie was a originally a two parter until the studio condensed it into one at the last minute and than cut around a half a hour of scenes. Also, the X-suits were suppose to bad, the characters in the movie even say they were bad and they only wear it for two scenes.
I knew it would be bad ... but It kinda surprised me when you said "worse than the last stand" and then you ended with WORSE THAN WOLVERINE ORIGINS??? Mann way to murder a movie ....
Last Stand has some good stuff in it, just the pacing is wack because there's two movies shoved together. I find it hard to believe Dark Phoenix is worse than Wolverine: Origins. It kind of makes me morbidly curious to see this, but it sounds like it's "boring bad" as opposed to "funny bad".
But is it worse than The Wolverine? Which is a separate movie where he goes to Japan. Since it wasn't mention in the video, I'm a little worried I may have just hallucinated that one.
Actually I knew it was going to be bad too. To be fair I liked X man the last stand but for it to be worse than X-Men origins and X man apocalypse(mostly because they turned mystique into the catch fire girl literally copy and paste job. Everyone admires her like in catching fire and she is the main character because she is Jennifer Lawrence not because she is mystique.) If it's worse than those 2 this might be the worst comic move of all time
Alex Havener Wolverine goes to Japan is the movie people forget about all the time, it's certainly better than Origin. People meme it all the time with the case of the yellow suit but forgot it's from Wolverine Japan.
When the random army guy dies and nightcrawler develops a strong emotional bond to him for no reason and then gets angry for like half a minute then starts killing people. The cringe.
@@agentofchaos7456 I have seen the cartoon and read the Dark Phoneix saga comics - this is based on an extremely, extremely loose interpretation of the comics.
Movie was so much garbage, everybody had their powers on lite for most of it,being a Magneto fan was hugely disappointed, serious cyclops was standing on a car,we've seen him lift a sub,a stadium, also we've seen him get rid of someone who had no metal on them yet in this movie he's......ugh Also he KNOWS Jean can control things yet walks right In head on to kill her,the helicopter chess match between the two was also cringe worthy to watch,Magneto floating over to Jean also looked terrible The action scenes looked uninspired, there was nothing epic for Magneto to do and no epic quick silver scene, the original dark phoenix looked scary and powerful Sansa did not,Charles is also very powerful but is so weak in this movie....movie is just trash
When it comes to the pprequel/alternate time lime movies, I liked how you could see the beginnings of the great man Charles would be, and the flaws he had still yet to overcome. The only problem is, after days of future past, they pretty much gave up on the "great man he will become" and instead focused far too heavily on his flaws. He doesn't make any progressions on improving mutant rights on screen, and therefore will never become the man he was in X men 3 who Magneto said had done more for mutants that pyro would ever know. He just remains a deeply flawed and kind of useless idealist.
I honestly felt really bad for Simon Kinberg, who wrote and directed the movie. Not only was this his directorial debut but he was given another chance to do the Dark Phoenix storyline and he even planned to make a trilogy around it. But due to the Disney buyout, Fox grew impatient, stepped in and messed the film up even worse than the first time.
It was planned to be a two movies but Fox made it into one in late production. Disney had no hand in it. I wouldn’t say they messed it up even more. This movie actually had a clear vision.
Naughty Avatar I know. What I meant by “the first time” was actually The Last Stand which I had finally watched recently. And WOOOWWWWW, its really bad. So yeah already, this movie is better than The Last Stand. And I also think Fox grew impatient due to Avengers Endgame and I also read somewhere that they reshot the third act due to it being too similar to Captain Marvel. Edit: I also found out that Chris Claremont, who wrote the original comic praised this adaptation.
Yeah, The Last Stand is all over the place. Jeremy is out of his mind for thinking this is all over the place with its many subplots but that movie isn’t. I’ve realized that Jeremy’s main criticism of the movie is that it doesn’t focus on fighting a villain. This movie was made to be about Jean dealing with her childhood trauma resurfacing as an adults, which is a relatable story.
Naughty Avatar I agree to that as well. Just saw the movie and I honestly think it’s WAY BETTER than the critics were suggesting. Apart from the obviously bad “X-Women” scene, everything else held up for me and it was MILES better than Apocalypse, which might have been Bryan Singer’s fault since he co-wrote the story and the last time he did that, we got Superman Returns. Also, I just found out that Kinberg’s screenplay in The Last Stand was rewritten by Zak Penn (Ready Player One) due to Fox disliking it for being “too dark”. Anyways, I’m hoping Feige (who actually was the one who ordered the reshoots) doesn’t ruin the MCU versions.
we had had enough dark phoenix saga, hopefully they are gonna do a spiderman homecoming, they don't tell the story over again, they just skip it, we get it!

This movie might be quite bad , that could be true but you can’t just use another mans opinion to tell you how to feel. That’s some stupid stuff right there
@@yassermoran1065 you may be right that 1 (or more) reviewer and an aggregator of reviews may call something bad that others might actually enjoy; but remember that some people go with certain opinions because they found that their tastes (likes, dislikes and appreciation of nuances) line up the vast majority of the time. If something looks like a less appealing marketing run, from the same studio that gave a bad rendition of this subject matter before due to a crammed storyline (XM3:TLS), gave this particular I.P.'s new direction a bad prior installment (XM:Apoc), kept most of the creative team, then held back reviews to right before its premiere (usually a thing pointing at a subpar movie at best), the last bit of due diligence *is* to see if your favorite [and hopefully aligned] reviewers agree, disagree or find something redeeming to report back. Especially if one doesn't have money to just throw away at a more-than-likely less-than-enjoyable viewing experience. Now, that said, personally I'd calibrate my alignment with my go-to reviewers every once in a while. I'd want to be sure I'm not missing out by trusting and never verifying we're still aligned in tastes, but sometimes that is best done by still viewing it after on home video. If money's not an issue, then I'd do it in the cinema so I'm factoring in the experience of the big screen, sound design and graphics that could help something be more enjoyable despite average plot, story and script. In short, this is the whole point of checking reviews for certain movies, although I'm still going to see it. Although some people's experience can be negatively influenced by hearing reviews in advance, everyone isn't just blindly following a popular, uninformed opinion. I was hoping beyond track record that there'd be more positive news coming out of its last installment too. I like McAvoy, Fassbender and Holt as actors and particularly in these roles, so a good final installment may have tempted Disney to roll them over into the MCU or MCU adjacent version of X-Men we'd eventually get. Plus it would give Turner a good notch in her big screen repertoire instead of a repeat of Clarke & the Terminator fizzle.
The cast and crew said in the behind the scenes features that they didn’t want Jean to be a villain. They wanted her to represent people who suffer from metal illnesses and made this a psychological thriller. Hence why it was going to be released in the fall but Fox forced it into the summer so Alita could get the fall date and than started marking Dark Phoenix as this high stakes event films when it was never made to be.
Both of that stuff was developed in X-Men: Apocalypse. She’s scared little girl who is afraid of her own power and her greatest fear is that she will hurt people someday.
This is an adaptation and thus has to stand on its own. The purple cosmic power in the movie is never once referred to as the “Phoenix Force” in the movie nor it did not look like a Phoenix. It’s like saying the “Robin” in The Dark Knight Rises is Dick Grayson. We were going to get that back when the movie was planned as a two parter but the studio made it into one film in late pre-production.
Oh the filmmakers had the guts to use the Shi’ar. Jessica Chastain had originally signed up to play Lilandra when the story was planned to be a two parter. However, once the studio had made it into one film Kinberg had to cut things out so to not lose focus on Jean. The M’Kraan Crystal was not in Dark Phoenix. That was he Phoenix Saga. They are two separate storylines. Jean had more screen time than Wolverine in each of the X-Men films that were not Wolverine solos. You can look he screen time. So she wasn’t a plot device but the protagonist and had a hero’s journey arc. Everyone else except Xavier had very little screen time.
probably becaue at least with originas its liek aBatman and robin thing where its entertaining to bash on with friends, Dark Phoneix from what I understand is a boring waste of time, not fun, not corny, not entertaining at all
Yeah Even though Wolverine origins was awful, I honestly had a blast watching it but what I’ve seen and heard dark Phoenix was just pure boring and I would rather watch something that I actually would like to watch rather then sleeping through a boring mess
I mean, origins wasn’t that bad. If we ignore or take away the shit that they call “Deadpool”, it’s not that bad of a movie. It still could’ve been better but i would say it was absolutely awful.
Probably just another over the top review, to gain quick views and create some short of fake hype. I bet the movie is just boring, like x-men apocalypse or something like that.

Honestly, Mistique , who is the plot moving mofo in DoFP, is so goddamn stupid and striaght up braindead in that movie that I cannot like it. Like, the plot is just sooo fucking dumb in so many instances. I think the only reason people actually like it it’s because we finally have mostly great actors on screen interacting with each other (the actors for Wolvie, Magnetto, Xavier and QS).... cause damn, I could barely get through Apocalypse since the actors for Nightcrawler, Cyclops(what a wimp btw), Jubileu and Jean Grey were sooooo bad in that movie , also the villains looked like a bunch of school actors near Michael Fesbender who actually did a good job. The gab in acting skill in Apocalypse was simply absurd
Lol, it's funny how at the very beginning of this video Jeremy was mentioning stuff about how this X-Men series should end. Literally when I saw the Dark Phoenix trailer for the first time when I saw Captain Marvel in theaters with my Dad. My Dad's first reaction was, "Seriously, are they making another one?!" He and Jeremy can relate! XD
I disagree with the MCU. Now that Disney owns Fox, they have a lot more material to work with. They may never reach End Game levels of hype again, but they could still pull off some hella good movies.
What annoys me is that EVERYONE with the exception of the 90s cartoon series, jumps straight into the "Dark Phoenix" story. Totally skipping over that when first possessed by the Phoenix entity, Jean was doing good things and was a guardian who saved planets. She was good. Then when her time came to leave Jean Grey's body, the Phoenix was like "Screw this, I like the feeling of being human. I'm staying and nobody better get in my way." That is the reason it worked in the comic and cartoon. Cause they had the balls to say "Watch a powerful good spirit lose control of itself and basically give into DARK part ALL humans have deep inside of them. Even the best versions of us.
@@creativecookbook Dark Phoenix in the comic is an epic saga. It worth Marvel whole 10 years of Avengers Thanos saga. Not this whimper of a movie. She destroys planets, for fuck sake! Not just meddling around inside a train coach.
Fucking thank you! .... Yes, the Phoenix force is ultimately an arch of things going bad and an ultimate evil, but everyone jumps right to evil aaaand go! ... at around 1h 14 mins) The subway train crashing through the wall behind Magneto is a real train on a hydraulic rig. It was supposed to stop a few feet further back but travelled further than intended, knocking down some ceiling tiles very close to Michael Fassbender. Fassbender, ever the professional, didn't even flinch and the shot made it into the finished film.
One thing I noticed is this film is set in 1992, like 30 years after First Class yet most of them look entirely the same. Raven and Hank will probably supposed to be in their mid-late 50s, Magneto and Charles in their 60s or even early 70s. They didn't even care lol
@@reed2144 There is one thing you aren't getting, and its the fact in this series in this timeline. Erik, Raven and Charles were all born in the early 1930's since they were teens in 1944. So let's say that they were born in 1932 and first class was set in 1962 meaning they were 30 in that you following? Days of Future past was set in 1973 11 years after that which would make them 41 again without really ageing to much. Then you have apocalypse set in 1983 and 10 years after dofp which would make them 51 years old in that movie with almost no signs of ageing. Then you have this movie set in 1992 9 years after that and 30 years since first class. Meaning in this movie they are 60 years old. Yet they still look like they are 30 years old which makes no sense and it's not natural and it makes the one in charge of this movie and writer of the series look like he does not care at all. All they had to was subtle changes throughout the movie and series to make it look like they were ageing then it would have made more sense but they didnt do and given whose writing this crap it does not surprise me at all given his track record.
I honestly didn't mind the movie too much, the last train sequence was brilliant. When Jean takes the wood out from under Quicksilvers feet and she's just staring at him, that was a cool moment. I do agree though, some R rated Dark Phoenix action would have done it
The train sequence was easily the best part of the film. It was exciting, well-choreographed and it gave every mutant a moment to shine. And what makes it even more shocking was evidently, the entire scene was added in reshoots to replace the original finale. If the rest of the film had even half the energy and creativity of the train sequence, it would have been a perfectly good, solid film. But for me, it was just too little, too late.
Logan is the only xmen movie of note and that was by being as removed as it could be in tone and content from the rest of the franchise as possible. 20 years and maybe an OK first movie and one solid entry. Damn.
Yep. Luckily I have an AMC stubs membership so this won't cost me anything. I'll just watch it for completion sake. It's the end of an awful Fox xmen era and I just wanna see it the shit show so that I'm well informed when I criticize it
I haven't seen the film but going off the trailer I was under the impression that Xavier put the mental blocks in her head to keep the Phoenix away and the energy shit in space she absorbed destroyed those blocks inside her
Just my humble opinion: Deadpool > Deadpool 2 > X-Men: Days of Future Past > The Wolverine > X-Men: First Class > X2 > X-Men > Logan (they killed him😭) >>> X-Men: Apocalypse > X-Men Origins: Wolverine > X-Men 3: The Last Stand >>>>>>>>>>> Dark Phoenix
I think it's more of the expectation of both films. Like lets be honest here, nobody really had any expectations or thought that Fan4stic was gonna be good. But for the x-men franchise, you have at least some possible good past movies, as well as a really good story already there.

Not true. This movie was a originally a two parter until the studio condensed it into one at the last minute and than cut around a half a hour of scenes. Also, the X-suits were suppose to bad, the characters in the movie even say they were bad and they only wear it for two scenes.
I knew it would be bad ... but
It kinda surprised me when you said "worse than the last stand" and then you ended with WORSE THAN WOLVERINE ORIGINS???
Mann way to murder a movie ....
I was to especially origins
Everyone admires her like in catching fire and she is the main character because she is Jennifer Lawrence not because she is mystique.)
If it's worse than those 2 this might be the worst comic move of all time
Alex Havener Wolverine goes to Japan is the movie people forget about all the time, it's certainly better than Origin. People meme it all the time with the case of the yellow suit but forgot it's from Wolverine Japan.

When recounting the X-Men movies, Jeremy forgot The Wolverine (2013)

Let's face it. X-Men Origins:Wolverine and X-Men:Apocalypse set the bar much lower before Dark Phoenix came along.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer did the Dark Phoenix better than...Dark Phoenix 🤦♂️
The cast and crew said in the behind the scenes features that they didn’t want Jean to be a villain. They wanted her to represent people who suffer from metal illnesses and made this a psychological thriller. Hence why it was going to be released in the fall but Fox forced it into the summer so Alita could get the fall date and than started marking Dark Phoenix as this high stakes event films when it was never made to be.
Both of that stuff was developed in X-Men: Apocalypse. She’s scared little girl who is afraid of her own power and her greatest fear is that she will hurt people someday.
Also, google “Dark Phoenix is an Eye-Opening Lesson in What PTSD is Like For Women, and Why That Matters“.

They should’ve learnt from the MCU the MCU continued to do the best they can to create good movies even when Disney took over. The same applies for Star Wars Disney took over and Star Wars was like: welp time to destroy the franchise.
Caught LtRt It's funny because the producer is the director.
The DARK PHOENIX movie just svcked azz

Yep
He gave it awesometacular
As soon as you saw the trailer
@@niccolomachiavelli3907 lol
I knew it was bad since the first trailer
Damn! First GoT season 8 and now Dark Phoenix. Sophie Turner can't catch a break.
She's hot though, so she's got that going for her
I think she did a good job in both. It's not her fault.
Glad Endgame wasn't disappointing
Arnold Patterson Ramsay Bolton was breaking her off something serious not too long ago lol

That is also true.
You give the best movie reviews ever!!!!!! This is arguably your best so far!!!! 😂😂😂
at around 1h 14 mins) The subway train crashing through the wall behind Magneto is a real train on a hydraulic rig.
No they rebooted the time because of days of future past
@@reed2144
There is one thing you aren't getting, and its the fact in this series in this timeline.
@@reed2144 First Class which was set in 1962 still happened in their timeline. They even address it in the film.
Yup. Sloppy writing, stupid ideas, and terribly spoiled actors with lawyers and agents.
@@Silenthitman44 I dont get the Jake Crawler, Jake McCoy and Jake Xavier joke can someone please explain
Damn he removed his jacket...Jeremy is really serious on this one
This man has been doing movie reviews since I was born.
Jeremy Jahns is doing memes now. Okay.
No, but really, even worse than Origins? Damn.
My same reaction lol
Apocalypse and last stand are the worse one tbh
Logan is the only xmen movie of note and that was by being as removed as it could be in tone and content from the rest of the franchise as possible.
20 years and maybe an OK first movie and one solid entry. Damn.
And this is why I watch Jeremy. Bad time successfully avoided
blumusdu Ill still watch, just gonna wait till its a 1080rip lol
Yep. Luckily I have an AMC stubs membership so this won't cost me anything. I'll just watch it for completion sake. It's the end of an awful Fox xmen era and I just wanna see it the shit show so that I'm well informed when I criticize it
blumusdu 🐑
....... and good times no alcohol required
What kind of idiot depends on another person to make choices for them? What a fucking idiot this "blumusdu" is
Marvel studios: ...Are you finished?
Fox:... yeah...
Marvel Studios: Are you done?
I actually liked Dark Phoenix better than XMen 3 imo
"And this movie actually does have so g...arbage."
Love it. =D
I've been waiting for that observation, Jean DEFINITELY had the pheonix power in apocalypse, that's how she incinerated him...
It's pretty much standard treatment of continuity of the Fox X-Men franchise though.
I haven't seen the film but going off the trailer I was under the impression that Xavier put the mental blocks in her head to keep the Phoenix away and the energy shit in space she absorbed destroyed those blocks inside her
It’s as if they didn’t watch the movie somehow...
Just my humble opinion:
Deadpool > Deadpool 2 > X-Men: Days of Future Past > The Wolverine > X-Men: First Class > X2 > X-Men > Logan (they killed him😭) >>> X-Men: Apocalypse > X-Men Origins: Wolverine > X-Men 3: The Last Stand >>>>>>>>>>> Dark Phoenix
Dude! As a whole, any other X-MEN movie is better than Dark Phoenix!!
Bros, definitely DARK PHOENIX is the worst movie of the X-Men and by far.

SJU's Honest Trailers Commentaries is an absolutely hilarious review of this movie. I rewatch it every couple of months for a good laugh. 🤣
I’ve watched that. I think those guys have only watched the animated version because they seem clueless about Jean/Phoenix’s history in the comics.

I thought it was better than Fantastic 4
Magneto is a beast 💪
Fan4stic was much worse than this
Because after some amount of years, your analytical skills will remain the same, right?
I think it's more of the expectation of both films. Like lets be honest here, nobody really had any expectations or thought that Fan4stic was gonna be good. But for the x-men franchise, you have at least some possible good past movies, as well as a really good story already there.
@@valhallacomes definitely right
3:18 that Office Space reference though lol
just finished watching all of them for the first time... this one is no where near the worst
The original storyline is not even about Jean being a villain. Jeremy really doesn’t known what he is talking about.
I just finished watching them for the first time and it's absolutely the worst.
