    Whenever Dips is mentioned, Ranveers face just lights up and it's truly the most precious thing I've ever seen. Their love for each other is so pure, it warms my heart. It's so great to know that love like this still exists. Best couple ever.

      Yes. And it is considered bad form so held against him. Yet Ranveer wore sunglasses that blocked us seeing his eyes which also has to be a no-no on these shows. But Karan was kind of being protective not wanting Ranveer to be misread. Yet Ranveer seems to have no personal insecurities and the confidence not to care how what he says is taken so most everyone moves to his side. Karan is flogged by film and celebrity writers for any alleged harsh or misunderstood remark so is careful of what he says. Ranveer and other newer stars are beyond that sort of worry. And Ranveer totally knew what Karan was about. This interview is a great contrast between two personalities.

    The only thing about nepotism that bothers me is that star kids keep getting opportunities and good roles for them to be noticed. No doubt Alia and Varun are good actors, but look at the opportunities and diverse scripts they get so early on in their careers, which a person from the outside waits for years for a great role and which necessarily doesn’t guarantee stardom.
    People like arjun kapoor, Sonam kapoor, tiger shroff etc keep getting opportunities also inspite of their mediocrity. Had it been someone from the outside, all they get is that one chance to shine.

    • @sarahsiddiqui6494
      @sarahsiddiqui6494 Před 5 lety +31

      EXACTLY!!!
      That is what I have always said.
      It is not about "if they are good they will survive" bullshit.
      Rajkumar had to do 10-12 incredible films to be even recognized and these star kids keep getting films whether they are good or not.

      Sarah Siddiqui Life is not fair... is that it?? Grow up!!!

    • @AriaIsara
      @AriaIsara Před 5 lety +12

      But many people from film families also fail. Look at Salman's brothers for instance.
      Tiger is good in action movies, he has a great body and he knows martial arts. Sonam is not mediocre. She's not great but she's very decent, she also has "a face" that filmmakers may like for their character. Arjun is good as an anti hero like in Ishaqzaade. He was decent in 2 States.
      The reality is that they get opportunities because they match what a filmmaker wants which can be not only acting but also physical abilities, charisma, etc. Also there is no point casting someone with amazing acting skills if the role is simple or if the movie is just a basic romcom or just an action movie...
      Varun and Alia get good films because they are very talented and on top of that are attractive. That's how cinema works. Mainstream films even those with depth have a preference for good looking leads. Same thing in Hollywood.
      Ultimately I really think how you look helps you more than what family you come from. That's why people like Aditi Rao Hydari or Vicky Kaushal made it into films without being helped by nepotism. Because they look good on top of being good actors.

    • @bhanurekhab4406
      @bhanurekhab4406 Před 5 lety +7

      Aria Isara Moreover, success in films is not as great as say receiving a Bharat Ratna. Everyone knows it's more of a business than art. I really don't understand why actors who are rejected by film producers cannot explore the art in some other form like in theater. Now we are in the age of OTT platforms. What's the need to get so frustrated and bitter? Just don't think all the hue and cry about nepotism is worth it. I think its just a case of sour grapes.

    The brilliance of this show is to find two people you would never imagine sitting across each other and talking about their past and their experiences in the industry, which we have never had the chance of hearing. The reason why I like this show is its unconventional choice of guests who defy the very mainstream and popular that these two individuals embody. It seems like this was a desperate attempt to gain traction for this show. Don't get me wrong, this show deserves to be watched, it is an ingenious concept and contains some meaningful conversations. But to have Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar do what we have seen them do for years on Karan's show is nothing different or new. This show deserves better.

    It will be too soon to judge how this season unfolds, but as far as this episode is concerned, I didn't like it. You recently uploaded snippets of previous season, and when I went back to them, I found a lot of words of wisdom about life, craft, etc. Rajkumar Hirani and Shahid Kapoor come under mainstream cinema. But their conversation was lovely! Karan Johar is an intelligent person, but the choice of this duo and their answers felt like, they were at each other's home and chatting about their personal life. The main reason I didn't like it was the choice of questions perhaps, and their long repetitive answers. I'm done with the marriage and relationship questions on ranveer deepika and Karan's fatherhood.

    This was such a good pairing of such similar yet very different personalities, who know one another and admire each other's good qualities. I think Karan is often quite straight forward with criticism but does not receive credit from the public at large for has kindness and thoughtfulness that he does not mention. The director of Wake Up Sid said that after 10 to 15 days of shooting, Karan felt that Konkona's character's clothes made her look less than they should have. So he arranged for her wardrobe to be changed and her scenes to be reshot so she looks great as part of the function of her character in the story. You could say that was his job but I think he he has the sensitivity of Yash Chopra to take good care of the hero, heroine, cast and crew which he mentions as something he learned from his father. He has directed some excellent films like My Name is Khan and has produced so many films that creatively, his writing and directing efforts are overlooked. It would be great if Anupam Chopra could pick her 5 best films of his and ask him about them and how he creates them. The coolest thing about this interview pairing is that you have 2 guys who seem to have a lot of love for everyone. But one is seems the indefatigable loving teddy bear and the other is considered as critical and more guarded against all the bad stuff that can happen in life. But despite that expresses quite a lot of love towards others after getting past personal misgivings of what might go wrong for them. There is maybe more to Karan than what one usually sees that the way he usually is might unintentionally obscure.

    The point where Karan doubts himself as a filmmaker , I wish that Ranveer could tell him about the great movies he has made . Be it "My name is Khan" whchi was touted to be a potential Indian osacar nominee or the "K3G" which is my and many others' guilty pleasure and also his slice in the "bombay talkies" which goes on to reflect the true filmmaker that resides inside him . And I hope that with Takht , he gets to realise it again .

    • @karandeepbhatti7397
      @karandeepbhatti7397 Před 5 lety +1

      @Kshitij Birdi I don't think that these filmmakers have not gotten their due regard . Probably overshadowed, because they chose to make movies on unconventional topics . I , personally , haven't seen their movies and yes, probably marketing has got a role to play in it . But just because everything has become commercialised , doesnt justify as to why karan is not a good filmmaker . And yes , i called K3G a guilty pleasure because it got a polarised response from critics and i knew that many wont agree with me calling it an exceptional work. All in all , every industry has got both good and bad to it . But , as long as , they have not done anything overtly wrong to hurt the mass, why shall we hate them ?

    • @karandeepbhatti7397
      @karandeepbhatti7397 Před 5 lety +2

      @Kshitij Birdi You have an extensive knowledge about movies , filmmakers and the industry itself . I genuinely dont think i am as knowledgeable in this respect to continue having a healthy debate . But beyond a doubt you put forward quite good points . And , i never paid attention to how the nominations for extremely important categories arr shoved behind the commercials , indeed Oscars doesn't do the justice to the real manpower and efforts . Regarding me calling K3G a guilty pleasure, i couldn't find a better way to say it ( blame my poor vocabulary) but i love the movie personally. And when you say that every person, who feels their money has gone waste watching a movie which was not worth it , has the right to hate these filmmakers, you are right. And despite agreeing with you almost everything ( including that probably karan johar has not taken enough risks) , I still would say that he has done some incredible work , however scarce it may be .
