I was not able to comprehend how all of this fits on one rotation, but the tube actually shifts a few times. That is so insanely well made and amazing! :D Super impressive :o
My mother had a music box similar to this that played a Chopin Nocturne. If you cranked it all the way it would play for half an hour. It was in a beautiful box covered in marquetry and mother of pearl. Unfortunately it was stolen along with quite a few other antiques one weekend while we were away. It was priceless to us.
That is so sad, whoever stole it may not have a conscience but remember Karma, what goes around comes around, I'm a strong believer and if you are very lucky you might find out what happened to this horrible little scum bag, at least you will still have your memories of hearing it play, nothing can take those away from you, there in your heart always. ❤.
Hurrah! What a pleasant and enjoyable sound is the melody played by music-box. I like the melody of Larchelbel's canon. Some antique mechanical clocks played tune on built in music-box in addition with striking the hours on bell or gong. Some antique mechanical musical clocks only played melodies without striking the hours. Nowadays these types of music-boxes and chiming clocks are electronically imitated by some quartz clocks because they contains electronically recorded and programmed circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker. The quartz clocks that don't show dancing moments of animated figures and flashing lights while playing melody counts the hours soon after the melody is over (striking musical clocks). The prize of these clocks are higher than quartz clocks that simply measure and indicate time without playing melody nor counting the hours audibly (time only clocks) but lesser than quartz clocks that plays melody with showing dancing moments of animated figures and flashing lights but do not count the hours after the melody (motion musical clocks). Citizen, Seiko and Rhythm are the most well known brands to manufacture motion musical clocks and other brands manufactures time only and striking musical clocks. But quartz musical and striking clocks can't beat the real music-boxes, musical and chiming clocks.
It is very nice, but I must say I prefer the 50 note version a bit. Sankyo Orpheus has done an outstanding job with these, and I think the arrangement is better than the far more expensive Reuge version, which has long pauses for switching tracks on the cylinder.
Hello To whomever posted this. Can i ask a question about shifting? I just read a comment that this movement shifts. But i dont notice it. Ive seen music boxes were you can see and hear the shift? Im asking about technical reasons for shifting? And also about shifting that to me is barely perceptible Can you get back to me
@@NorCalDudeBJJ thanks! I am actually trying to design something that’s why the questions. If you know how it works exactly, please elaborate. Or if you can link me to another explainer video. It shifts sideways?
@@James-en1ob tbh I thought this might cost few hundred bucks ... akin to German Cuckoo clocks .. but thanks for the info... will pour blood & sweat to buy this for my beloved ...

the second rotation's notes are like 1 or 2 mm over so when it shifted the old notes were just out of the way of the tines.
I believe these have 3 rotations?

❤❤❤❤❤ I would like to order one, can I? ❤
I have a sankyo box
How can I buy one of these??
How does this work? Why do I feel that the drum has already turned more than one cycle
It turns a full cycle for each part of the song. You can see the drum shifts slightly for each part.
@@NorCalDudeBJJ didn’t catch the movement. Where do the drum shift to? And how does that affect which note strikes the comb?
@@foundx8426 It's very subtle. The shift causes the teeth to play a different set of notes.
