- In this video, I share my experience buying used commercial-grade gym equipment from, Fitness Equipment Empire. Also, I list my pros and cons to consider when purchasing used commercial-grade strength training equipment.
To start with, buying used commercial-grade equipment, is usually at least half the price of new commercial pieces.
Video includes the Nautilus 2ST Super Pullover and the Cybex Eagle NX Abductor & Adductor Combo Machine.

Thank you a lot for this video. This is very interesting and informative. Keep posting like those amazing videos, this is awesome.
Very kind of you. Thank you!
Comprehensive, authentic, pocket friendly and responsive to his fans.
I always share and like the videos. Thanks so much👍🙏
Thank you so much for your support and very kind comment. I really appreciate it!
These pieces are beautiful man. They had that squat press in my college weight room, and I lived on it! Great video HGHR.
Thanks so much, BGB! Yeah, it’s definitely the GOAT Leg Press.
congrats on the other equipment. its nice to get something you truly want. AND im sure you work hard to earn it..The gym is so full of awesome goodness man..good job!!
Thanks so much, BBD! Appreciate you!
Great content, and awesome set up
I really appreciate it. Thank you.
Solid stuff 💪💪 love the ad/abductor machine 👌👌
Thanks so much! Agreed. I felt like the adductors were lacking, so this is a welcome addition.
I predicted your channel would organically move into the realm of acquiring hard-to-find commercial grade gym equipment.
You, my friend, can see into the future. 😂
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews 😂😂.
The very best video on this subject I've ever seen. Really brilliantly set out. My respect for you Hacky. By the way: in the Netherlands it is very easy to buy professional gym equipment. There are so many providers (many from Technogym, but also plenty of other A-brands) and in this small country delivery costs are nothing.
You have no idea how much I appreciate your comment, thank you, LW!
That is great to hear! I have used a lot of Technogym pieces over the years. I always liked their upright chest press with the vertical grip and arms that converge. I was also a fan of their pulldown with the neutral grip.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews The upright chest press is my favorite!!!!
@@leftwinger764 that was one of the 3 chest exercises that was a constant in my DC Training routine. Great to hear you like it too!
U got an awesome home gym and knowledge my friend. Keep lifting.
Greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Thanks for the great content!! After watching this I was on the hunt for the pull over and scored one today!! Had to drive a couple hours and cross a boarder lol but it was worth it. Love the super pull over. Thanks for the great videos.
Thanks so much and I am glad you were able to find one. I couldn’t be happier with mine.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I played around with some movements. I attached straps to the pull over bar and tried a tricep skull crusher variation seems to work well. Also tucked that pull over bar under my arms and across my chest to do a abdominal crunch which worked surprisingly well too. Might need a pool noodle over the bar. Haha.
@@ksosa21 very cool. I haven’t tried any additional exercises yet, but those sound good.
Great video.
Thanks so much!
Your gym keeps getting better and better! I'm also a 1 man moving crew and it is difficult for me to even move non-commercial equipment around. Not only weight of the machines but trying not to damage anything, including my house! I can't even imagine moving commercial pieces around. Sad part is I am simply out of space in my basement gym 😞
Thanks so much! It’s hard to believe how far it’s come in 3 years.
I definitely understand the frustration about trying not to damage anything. I’ve put a couple small dings and smudges on the walls, but nothing too severe. If it weren’t for my wife, I know I’d have seriously hurt myself moving all this stuff. There’s usually a new garage gym layout every 6 months.
Well said!
Thanks so much!
Great vid as always. FYI, regarding commercial cardio equipment, I recently was going to buy a used Life Fitness treadmill from a commercial gym reseller and they noted I would have to get in an electrician to put in the proper outlet. Something to keep in mind for cardio equipment.
Thanks so much! And thank you for sharing that information.
Love your home gym, love the way you talk about your equipment. One Thing if it was My gym I would paint the natilus machine black so it match the rest of your equipment. Nice Channel good day
Thanks so much! It crossed my mind to paint the machine’s covers black, but after giving it some thought, I don’t want to do anything to alter it from its original design.
Great video. I have also found myself slowly replacing my home/residential quality stuff with commercial grade pieces. There are some machines that are simply leagues better when they’re commercial grade.
Thanks so much! It’s the next step in the evolution of our hobby.
This gym is incredible!!!!!
Thanks so much, DIY Fitness Club!
So cool to see this as a home gym owner myself. Purchased a Fray Fitness Hack Squat and am thoroughly impressed as it has the same design as Icarian but for a fraction of the price. Some pieces (fray, fettle) are hit/miss. Love your content and please keep it up. 👍
Greatly appreciated! Great to hear about the Fray Hack Squat. Good info for others who may see the comment.
Man your experience of home gym is so precious you have no idea🥺
That is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
@HGH&R,
That pullover machine is awesome (and makes me envious).
Remember that massively overbuilt old school Nautilus dual chest press/pec fly beast from the 80’s? Jeez, I’d hate to think about requirements to move one!
Experimentation allowed me to recreate about 90% of the pullover effect on my DAP/ low incline bench/EZ curl bar in combination with resistance bands strapped over weight stacks.
I do have a refurbished commercial cardio piece: Octane XT One elliptical climber. Saved $6K over new. Buttery smooth upper-lower extremity movement arcs with expansive stride adjustment.
Right! Some of those old Nautilus machines require a 2 car garage to house just one.
Since I posted my initial review of the pullover, someone contacted me and said they found one at an auction for 400. They will pop up from time-to-time at a ridiculously low price. Congratulations on the cardio piece. That is a significant savings!
Honestly the commercial grade machines are the real deal! Miss all of those machines that most can get for your home gyms. That abductor machine is 🔥🔥. That’s a gold mine bro!
Thanks so much, Luke! If you can’t / don’t want to go to a commercial gym, you gotta bring the commercial gym to you 😂
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I’m going to pitch that phrase to Madison and see if she will bite 😂😂
@@LukesGarageGym good luck. Just remember, “it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.” 😂
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews 😂 I jumped onto this boat awhile ago, so expensive but love the feel of commercial gym equipment. Hard to go back to Body Solid after you’ve felt the difference 😂
@@GoreckiFit you have exquisite taste in gym equipment, sir! 😂
That's what I try to explain to people is that there are some commercial grade machines I just love using that can't be replicated by these cheap home gym machines. And I obviously don't need them and can do without them but you really don't need any equipment to workout so that's not saying much. I know the machines I love to use at the gym and if I had them at home I would definitely use them and therefore workout a lot more than I do now.
Definitely. I likely won’t buy any more commercial grade machines because they are so difficult to move around, much harder to sell, and I take a big loss when I do sell them, but I love their convenience. No plates to load, nothing to set up, just sit and lift.
Two clutch pieces!
1:25 couldn't be more accurate. 😆😆
😂 😂 😂
You’ve been perfect in giving powertec advise! Helped me a lot!
I’m just curious what you do for a living? I’d have to sell my organs to have a gym as good as yours 💙 big love to you and your channel
Thanks so much! I’m really glad to hear that some of my Powertec videos have been helpful.
I haven’t had to sell any organs, lol, but I don’t really spend on anything but gym equipment.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews God Bless💐
If you want resistance at the start of the Titan Leg Extension (5:24) or a similar model, just rest the plates on a low stool to create a more horizontal lever arm at the start of the ROM.
It creates a better resistance profile than many of the commercial-grade leg extensions that cost thousands.
Hey BP! Thanks for that info. I’ve also seen others connect the weight horn to a functional trainer / pulley system, which is another great option, but not an option for me in this room.
Overall, I am a big fan of the Titan Seated Leg Curl / Leg Ext…especially at the price I paid two years ago.
Even better than the stool, utilize that stopper pin everyone hates on. Put a 10lb, 25lb, or even 35lb plate and you can change the resistance curve of the lever. I always use a 25lb plate and I get a beautiful load drop off in the shortened position on leg extensions and curls which perfectly matches the strength curve of the muscles.
@@tgr_strength5865 Nice.
Your gym is better than a lot of commercial gyms out there. How much do you charge for membership? 😏 I just pray you never have to move 😆😆😆 Great video, man!
Thanks so much! It really has become something I never intended. I thought I was done after a rack, the Levergym, and the Compact Leg Sled! 😂
Just the thought of moving makes me panic. I’ve moved 1/10 of this equipment before and it required its own moving truck. The moving company charged us extra because of all the additional weight from the Dumbbells and plates.
I’ve never noticed the Tool flag in the background 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
There’s two of them above the garage door. I had one then tried to find a black and white Deftones, APC, or Sevendust flag…couldn’t find one…so I just got a second Tool flag. 😂 🙌
I bet you’re getting the cybex squat press within a year. It’s already on your mind (and who can blame you- it’s the Mercedes of leg presses). 👑
lol! It really is the, “Mercedes of Leg Presses.” Easily, the best Leg Press I’ve ever used. I would love it, but I don’t room for it. With how long the weight horns are, that machine requires a lot of space.
Do a review of the cybex abductor/adductor.
I considered it, but it’s not a machine that’s readily available for purchase. It showed up in my HIT Part 1 video and it will show up again in my HIT Part 4 video. I’ll try to add some additional commentary on the machine. Thanks so much!
Do both movements feel good or does it do one exercise better than the other?
Both feel great which is why I went with a commercial piece for this machine rather than a plate loaded residential-grade machine, which is more likely to have a lack of resistance in certain parts of the exercises.
Why would you buy an adductor / abductor machine? The pullover is great but I don't see the value in the other.
Mainly for the adductor exercise which I think is very valuable (abduction, not so much). Also, Dante Trudel had a great write up of why the adductor is a great exercise for inner thigh development on one of his sites.
Ooohhhh, I cannot afford any of this on my minimum wage job! LOL! Pullups, pushups and adjustable dumbbells for me!
You’ve got everything you need for a very well-rounded workout. It took me a long time to get to this point. I had 2 pieces of equipment and 1 piece I found in the dumpster for many years.
The biggest con is most commercial pieces are welded solid, which makes it impossible to move those bad boys downstairs or upstairs.
I feel sorry for anyone moving pieces like this up or down a stairway. Even in a narrow basement doorway it wouldn’t be fun.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I paid for the assembly of my Matrix Leg curl/leg extension cause I never would have been able to do it. It lives there now, can never move 😂. Came fully assembled and they took it apart and piece by piece brought it downstairs and assembled it.
@@GoreckiFit that sounds like money well spent.
Fettle fitness has a lot of brand new equipment for $1,500 - $3,000.
Stay tuned 😉
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Can’t wait!!! I want to order at least 15 things from them but can’t find no CZcams reviews.
@@kpath74 I posted a Fettle Fitness review today if you want to check it out.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Beat you too it! I also was planning on getting the Fettle pullover machine. But I’m still gone wait around for an old school pull over like what you have.
@@kpath74 very cool!
They never have anything I want in stock😢😢😢
Sorry to hear. I hope that changes because they get a lot of new-used equipment in pretty regularly.

Gosh I wish I had more room, if keep copying you
lol! I wish I had more room too.
