    Hi everyone, please be aware the lines on the battery are drawn the wrong way around. The shorter line should be on the left (connected to the cathode), and the longer line should be on the right (connected to the anode). Apologies for the mistake :)

    For anyone it may help, mnemonic for oxidation and reduction at anodes and cathode
    An Ox- anode oxidation
    Red Cat- reduction cathode

    In electrolysis +ions > cathode(-) > gain electron > reduced .
    And -ion >anode (+) >lose electron >oxidised.
    However , Fuel cell cathode (+) and anode(-)

    A mnemonic for oxidation is losing electrons and reduction is gaining electrons is
    OIL - oxidation is losing
    RIG - Reduction is gaining

    the video is great but i just have a question: how do you determine the observation after the compounds have been electroylsed?

      don't you just note down what you see, my chem teacher said anything you can describe with your 5 senses, like if you see bubbling that's an observation, if you see a layer of deposit on the bottom that's an observation, if it makes a particular smell that's an observation too
