- Is it permissible for women to wear sandals that expose their feet? What do the scholars say about this? Are feet considered awrah or not?
Some scholars consider feet part of the awrah, others do not. The strongest opinion is that feet are not part of the awrah. Yet it is better to cover them.
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni further answers the question.

JazakAllahu khair for clarifying this issue. It’s so hot with all of our modest clothes on , at least I don’t have to feel guilty wearing sandals outside in the summertime . May Allah protect us and grant us forgiveness and mercy
Jazakallah Khair. Many a times I go outside without my socks and feel very guilty. Now I know that at least it's not awrah. But like it has been mentioned, of course it'd be best to keep the feet covered as much as possible, in shaa Allah.
What is the proof that feet are not awrah though? Scholars have given proof from the hadith on umm salamah of feet being hidden
@@anamhussain3289 can u plz show the proof?
@@anamhussain3289 hanafi and some from syafie said feet is not aurah, and some of them said hadith from ummu salamah is dhaif. Wallahualam
Many scholars say its obligatory to cover the feet, too. Becsuse of this hadith
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever lets his garment drag out of pride, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.” Umm Salamah said: What should women do with their hems? He said: “They should let them down a hand span.” She said: Then their feet will show. He said: “Then let it down a cubit, but no more than that.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1731); he said: This is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. Also narrated by al-Nasaa’i (5336). The hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 1864.
It’s a good choice to have nude socks on
Thank you for the answer.

Ibn taymiyya was talking about the awrah in prayer and mentioned this hadith of aisha sayinh that this was before the naskh of it and the command of covering the face and the rest of the body
SubhaanAllaah, in some countries where women are covered( niqaab), some men look at her feet of women to see her beauty and judge her by that.
Showing feet outside is it awrah or not?
@@user-hs1jp8qn2h
not awrah, better to cover them
That's trueee
@@ummzaynul370 well that's the fault of the men, they should not be looking regardless

Brother please let me know should I cover my feet during salah.? I heard many of the scholars saying this is from sahi hadeeth that woman should cover her feet during salah. Please please please answer me
Except Hanafi Madhab the other 3 Madhab believe covering feet is important for prayer.
Yh u should
In my Islamiyat book it said that hand face and feets can be shown my family also said that and i also heard of this hadith but that hadith does not says that the feets itself shoud be covered
When the commandment was made for men to raise garment above ankles the wife of the messenger was concerned and said “what about us women” the messenger said lengthen it by handspan…. Clearly Sahih evidence showing the wife of the messenger Umm salamah was worried the awrah would be exposed. Also the ayat whixh says don’t strike feet, if womens feet were uncovered they wouldn’t need to strike to show them as they’re already on show, this shows they were covered whixh why they struck foot to get attention… all evidences incline towards covering and the opinion of one scholar isn’t proof. Wallahu alam
@@eze1373 what does this mean i don’t get it?
So feet is not part of a woman's awrah.
Please tell me what about at the time of prayer? Is it necessary for a woman to cover feet during prayer or not ?
Naaz khan .
It is better to cover feet during salah so that your ankle is well covered.
Why dont you wear a skirt that is long.i have skirts that i wear at home and its more comfortable and easy than wearing socks.. and i think covering feet is much better. Let us follow what Allah SWT likes more :)
Yes I also started wearing sock since I found out
Most scholars say it is mandatory to cover feet during prayer so it’s best to follow what majority says
Are there any authentic hadiths that say feet is awrah getting doubts please answer
All authentic hadith say only hands and face can show.
So the answer is no.
