  • Festival of Igunnuko Masquerades from Central Nigeria. There is some magic to these masquerades. They can be as tall as 15 feet, and next minute be as short as two feet. They can roll on the ground like drums, or spread like sheets on the ground, all in one breath. Nobody understands how yet. You may have to see to believe!..Dimensions: 20" by 15"

This is our culture to the core. We understood it and cherish all the beauty that comes with. Its a shame weak people has let foreign Islam and Christanity dilute what we were brought up with.

That is nice of you. I always admire the shrine at Bariga each time I pass through. It is even more beautiful now that the road to bariga is repaired. No Yoruba heritage must die, tiwa n tiwa. Enough of copy copy

IGUNNUKO Festival at Agbole Osodi (AH-BO-LAY OH-SHOW-DEE), Lagos Island is one of the spiritual cleansing masquerades that comes to cleanse the community four times a year -- once per season. These purifying entities change the frequency of the citizen, neighborhood, village and community -- wiping clean death, spiritual debris and sickness of that environment -- to ensure renewal and growth.
