    What did we learn folks? Recall knowledge will save your life!

    We had a dhampir halfling barbarian in our first AV party. He was also the first casualty precisely because of his desire to run ahead and his inability to be healed in conventional manners.

      Oh yeah the undead limitations are rough I’ll give ya that. I’m sure experienced players can handle it fine, but after playing around with it now I’d be a little hesitant to suggest it to new folks.

    Some rules corrections (which by now you may have realized):
    People who have negative healing like Jones Bones do not take damage from healing, they just aren't healed by it.
    Grapple doesn't use your unarmed attack traits, so it would be -0, -5, -10
    And 3 action heal does the same amount of healing as the one action heal, the two action heal is the only one that does more.
    Great session though 👌

    • @meyore
      @meyore Před 25 dny +1

      Thank you and hope it stays fun! Also 2 things:
      1. For the negative healing I believe you’re correct when it comes to something like a healing potion for the no effect instead of damage so thank you for reminding me of that, but at least for the heal spell, it does specify vitality damage if the target is undead which is why we were worried about him getting caught in those 3 action heals.
      2. There’s a sidebar on page 234 on player core on athletics actions such as grapple with the attack trait. Where it says “Since these actions use your free hand, you use the traits for your fist attack to determine the multiple attack penalty, so your fist’s agile trait applies. Therefore, you take a -4 penalty if the action is your second attack of the turn, or a -8 if it’s the third.”

    Man...watching the only "thievery-y" person run away from the special monster that is weak to thievery checks somehow was painful 😂
    Easy to say looking back, but maybe once you allowed the grapple on the blood it could be ruled that it would have 5-10% less hp when they met it again or something.

    I find with pathfinder 2e, with how complicated things can be it’s better to just be straight forward in answers than cryptic. I tend to try to be cryptic because I want there to be mystery but I also find that while that would work in 5e, since this needs specifics I just give them the full info.

    • @meyore
      @meyore Před 25 dny

      Yeah I definitely learned that lesson with this encounter since haunt disable requirements seem to be pretty darn specific. I can also probably afford to offer a little more leeway with that too.

      Hi! Not sure where you’re getting this or if your GM has misinformed you, but a check being secret has no bearing on its modifier. While you can make a recall knowledge check even if you’re untrained in the skill being used for it, your check modifier would still be your base attribute modifier just without proficiency bonus (level+proficiency).
      Definitely feel free to prove me wrong with a source if you have one though as I’m always eager to learn.

      @@meyoreno I mean that in foundery the recall knolage button modifier is misleading as it displays a negative 1 but that because it dose ent show you what modifier you acctuly ues is as it just send the gm a list of relavent modifier and your roll

      @meyore Před 6 měsíci

      @@blankiecat9302 ohhhhhhhh okay I see what you’re saying. Yeah I’ve just had them roll whatever skill I’m having them use for recall knowledge as secret instead of using the recall knowledge button so thankfully that’s helped us avoid that particular problem.

    Doesn't helping someone to stop persistent damage lower the DC to 10 now? Instead of just an extra flat check? Persistent damage used to be too deadly and people would die to it despite several rolls because the 15 DC was a b***h to hit.

    • @meyore
      @meyore Před 6 měsíci +2

      So I can’t remember if I remembered to lower the dc, but it actually does both since administer first aid success says they benefit from assisted recovery and to lower the dc for appropriate help. The sidebar on page 445 of player core 1 it references says you do the extra flat check immediately, but only once per round, and to lower the dc to 10 for appropriate help.
      So basically thank you for the dc reminder!

    • @challst
      @challst Před 2 měsíci

      @@meyore To clarify the 'only once per round' part. More than one person can help. If the first attempt to help doesn't do anything then someone else can try to help. The cost here is 2 actions for each person. The 'once per round' is the number of times the bleeding person (or other persistent damage) can gain the benefit of an early roll. (Pathfinder fan who just discovered the channel and enjoying the show. I'm usually a permanent GM but actually getting to be a player in AV - we're in Book 2 so I'm not cheating!)

    • @neonGliiitch
      @neonGliiitch Před 25 dny

      No. Assisted recovery says you can take steps to help recover from persistent damage, or an ally can help you. This takes 2 actions and would result in something that can reasonably improve your chances. Such as trying to smother the flames or wash off acid and this allows you to make an extra flat check immediately, but only once per round.
      Then it gives guidelines for what a GM could decide an action does if there's no specific actual n that applies (like first aid does)
      Such as maybe the activity could allow you to use another skill, OR it could reduce it to 10, OR it could automatically end it such as jumping into a lake while on fire, OR alter the number of action it takes.
      It does not automatically make the DC 10, that's a suggestion the GM could use.
      So for example if someone is covered in acid and they design to dump a bucket of water on themselves the DM could decide that lowers the DC to 10 or could also decide it washes away the acid and just ends it, or that it only took one action.
      The choice is the DMs on what it does and the DC is only a suggestion.
      Page 445 of the player core.

    • @neonGliiitch
      @neonGliiitch Před 25 dny +1

      @@meyoreso you're half right here. First aid does say to lower the DC but the rule you're referencing doesn't say the DC is lowered to 10.
      It states that if there is no action associated with what the player is doing those are guidelines you can use for what the outcome is.
      You as the GM could decide the DC is 10 yes, but you could also decide it just automatically ends the persistent damage, or that the player could use a different skill.
      TLDR those are guidelines to help you determine what the action does, it's not a rule that automatically sets the flat DC to 10.

    • @meyore
      @meyore Před 24 dny

      @@neonGliiitchAh yeah thanks for that. I think at the time I was just going off of the administer first aid action saying to use the lowered dc from an assisted recovery on a success and didn’t connect at the time that the 10 from the assisted recovery sidebar was more of an estimate as opposed to a hard law.
