- In this video I want to explain why is important to use the half mask respirator when you are spraying. I have got one by 3M brand in the personal protective equipment for about 30 dollars. You buy the half mask just once, after some time is needed to change the carbon filters for new ones, 2 costed me about 10 dollars. Safety first guys when making Spray Paint Art! :)
Thank bensound.com for music background .
When I first started, I didn't use a respirator because I thought I had an open enough space. However, after a few weeks I started to get some gnarly headaches and my nose and throat would hurt. So, the moral of the story is, USE YOUR RESPIRATOR!
Exactly, I thought outside it will be not needed. Well yes it is, good luck with your spraying ;)
my chest is tight and my lungs hurt!
I CANT ADDORDD 1
Mike Hatten same lol I also get second hand smoke from my friends I can’t breathe it’s fucking stupid
Welcome to the cancer club
Very nice of you sharing this information. I've been a Painting Contractor for over 40 yrs and you are speaking the TRUTH! Thanks again for helping others!
I use ww2 gas mask
maybe don't do that , asbestos is most likely present in the filter
Ww2 gasmasks are really expensive
2023 and I almost fainted spray painting with the wrong mask, I went and bought a respirator asap same day, and what a life saver thank you! Hope you’re alive ♥️
I do not use silly respirator. I die like real man.
Lollll...
It's not worth dying for 😳
@@mdejesus3888 it is if you love doing graffti your going to love dying for something you love so
Damn I sprayed for 1 hour in a building without mask...
I'm dying right now
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Also note: filters do EXPIRE, normally 40 hours of use once you open the cartridge (although many people use it for more than 40 hours). for paint spraying use ORGANIC VAPOR CARTRIDGES (OV) only. P95, n95, p100, p99 cartridges are for dust only, they are not for paint! also after you use your respirator put it into an airtight ziplock bag to prolong the cartridges. that way they can last longer than 40 hours
I would personally recommend a full-face respirator. This is just from my own experience, as I've gotten a little spray paint in my eyes, and it burns. It also isn't healthy by any stretch of the imagination.
Thanks so much! I wish there were more information about that before starting. I sprayed paint for 5 minutes but in a closed space today and I don't feel great . I get scared about that things stuck in the lungs, do you think I am at risk of having that after what i did? Thanks
You should always wear some sort of mask for sure. Thank you for the video I also always wear rubber gloves.
Yes I've had my lungs irritated and chest ever since I spray painted outside? I never wore a mask before but this has taken a long time to get rid of on week 2 now . ugh!!
Thank you for a very good video. Spray paint fumes are deadly. It won't feel like it's hurting you but over time, the linings of your will be damaged beyond repair. Then you will know what it's like to die like a real man 😔 It's horrible to not be able to breathe!
Heyyy I have a question, I was spray painting in 10:00 in the evening outside (by outside I mean a long corridor with no roof so that air can pass through) and I was semi near an aircon (probably like 10-15 ft). The smell/ fumes went into the room but he smell wasn't as bad as the outside smell. After 20-25 mins of my family members having to smell that I ventilated the room and moved the piece I spray painted more but after that the smell was still there for like an hour but it was lessened. Would that cause major health problems?
@@seph2658 You'll find out if any of them develop lung cancer later i life i guess
I hate chemicals, especially spray paints.
All chemicals?
Thank u sooo much ur a life saver plz can u tell me what is the side effects of spray paint polyurethane ... i do that ... and i don't use mask i do under cut so plz thanks allot
Hi very nice video! I was wondering is it difficult to breath with this mask on or is it something that you get used to overtime
I had no idea of spray painting, and my boss only gave me a dust mask. I had been spraying for three days and now I had mild chest pain.
You should go and see a doctor
Will Chen dust mask is for dust. Go see a doc
I love respirators!!!!
You look very gorgeous with your 3M Respirator❤😍😘⚘
Thanks a lot HELP FULL
would you tell me mam if you know much about mask, my workshop is charcoal power factory where always flow charcoal powder for that environment what kind of mask would be suitable using. please suggest me.
I was helping my grandpa clean the bathroom up, and once we were done he started to spray paint in the bathroom closet for some reason and then he started feeling tired / dizzy. I ran in to help him get up and my grandma helped him with getting up too. He only had a regular cloth mask and didn't even have a respirator mask on but he ended up feeling fine after a few mins. But even though I only spent like 2 mins helping him get up, my head started hurting bad and I had pretty bad fatigue. My heart was beating fast and I had shortness of breath and clouded thinking. A few hours later I felt better but still bad. 2 days later I visited the doctor and they checked my vitals as well as my blood and they also did an EKG scan and everything seemed normal despite the fact I still felt bad. The whole incident was like 2 days before my 17th birthday to make it even worse. Now it's been 6 days later and some of the symptoms are pretty much gone but now I still have some pretty moderate clouded thinking and fatigue and I'm also just generally tired overall. If it turns out I have any sort of brain damage or nervous system damage I'm gonna be fucking mad. There was no way for me to know to not walk in to help my grandpa or any way for me to know to wear a mask since I wasn't even the one spraying it. There are people who literally use spray paint as drug ON PURPOSE, multiple times and they end up recovering fine. There are also many people who worked in factories for YEARS and so it would be sense why that would have any problems. Yet I only walked in the bathroom with the spray paint fumes without a mask for TWO or THREE minutes and I still feel bad days later? This is absurd and honestly I just hope everything is fine. It sucks knowing there was pretty much no way for me to know this would happen and this is warning for everyone to be cautious when being around friends or relatives when they're doing household work, it could result in you hurting your health. Please pray for me.
Honestly, the problem is likely psychological. I've been through the same shit. It's just anxiety/paranoia fucking with your head. Stop thinking about it and clear your head. You'll be fine.
How do you feel now? I feel the same after spray painting for 5 minutes in a closed space.
@@Kami-jd3mq i don't think it is paranoia, as she said in the video, it can stay in your lungs! Not great.
Had respirator on today but still smelled paint do I need a new cartridge I use a 6800 full face respirator. Multiple times could smell this week even when using Bondo. I have the acid cartridges coming tommorow but have other cartridge for respirator because have two of the same respirators. Am done putting on Bondo now and have applied polyester primer on my car but didn't use the hardner function on it. Used Eastwood 2k polyester primer spray in a can.
Those convulsions 😹
I like the this video very natural..
Like ON Planes or fro ChemTrails!! Well done!! :-)
My neighbor spray paints cars as a side business in his home garage without proper ventilation and does to use a mask. Also, his family is around him when he paints. No protection for anyone.
Worth chatting him up about that, I think.
3 years later...is he still alive?!
@@TheRainHarvester4 years later is he alive.
I wore a mask and sprayed outside but is that still safe?
What cartridge do you use
I'm 300:s liker of this video!
so spray paint, can be a self defense tool or weapon?
yeah if you fight them for 6 hours straight while spraying paint into their face
I have sprayed like 3 times and the third time me and my friend used a madmaxxx can and after that ive had like two headaches and two stomach aces will that ever go away or do i live with stomach aces and headaches all my life????
@@auroraborealis6398 Did it go away?
I accidentally inhaled some Valspar wood treatment spray today. I feel the irritation and taste the chemical a bit. Extremely paranoid. Will this pass?
You alive bud
How long did you feel that way?
Which size do you have? S or M
0:08 i died lmaoooo :):)
No she died
man didnt know spray paint does some weird shit
i wasnt using a proper mask. I was exhaling paint. My chest now hurts.
I just have to spray paint for about 10 minutes .
Can i use a normal n95 face mask??
No, no no. N95 doesn't seal nearly as tight as a respirator; 95 means it's 95% effective against particles - that means it's only effective against large particles, like dust, NOT against little paint molecules that measure several microns in size. Get a half-face respirator and a pair of cartridges (total cost ~$70 for 3M stuff) and use that instead.
Borrow one from someone else if you are flat out broke or ask someone with a respirator to do it for you.
There will be more paint projects to come I'm sure and more years to live but you only have one pair of lungs. Seventy bucks is a small price for a peace of mind.
@@lichking3711 I just spraying 20 minutes with a medical mask and a n95 over it, do I need to worry?
Haha... I just snorted rainbows when i sprayed without one... 😂 only once
So if I spray painted something for like 3 seconds once and smelled paint am I gonna die ?
Nah bro of course not it’s only if you do it for a long period
@@mat.11 I survived 😂😂😂
Omg same, i had a panic attack when i read paint fume was toxic
I was doing spray paint for 5 mins without a mask will something happen?
Pls reply
Yes
Luckily, you also look fucking badass with a respirator.
Is it legal for a minor to buy a respirator?
@Spicy Pumpkin No???
What if i really like the smell of paint tho

I use once without mask what will happen to me in the next few days? Am i going to die soon?
if you are hit by a car, yeah, you might die
But if you're talking about spraying just once without mask, no, I don't think so lol
WhalienS2 Heyy, I know I'm kinda late to the party, but this is really bugging me out. The gist of the story is I spray painted a few feet from an aircon(prob like 10-15 ft) and, Tada. The smell went into the room. The smell was like 40-50% that what the was outside but my family members were smelling that stuff for a solid 20- 25 mins before I ventilated the room. But the smell still lingered for like an hour but it was like 20-30% less. Would that cause major health problems?
Joseph F How do you feel now?
Guess I'm fucked, stupid people buying them all but you never see anyone walking around with them🤔
very funny and awesome thanks

Sadly the covid 19 has them all out of stock. I have been looking for months now and I paint every day
Bruh I found one from the streets and got it for free ! :D
Same. I recently started doing a lot of spray painting and airbrushing for my small Etsy shop. But its difficult getting my hands on a respirator. I know I need one because I've had headaches and dizziness from the paint fumes. I dont want to experience any long term issues.
Please turn up the music. I can still hear you speaking.
What if I spray painted only for a few minutes and outside?
Erik Farkaš I'll say no big deal of you don't do that currently, just for few times
Always wear a mask. Trust me. Better to look like a dork than to have health problems years from now
Hello....Please can anyone help me?.....My brother let his friends dog lie on his bed. The next day he realized the dog had fleas. He got some flea spray...( cant remember the brand it was 9 years ago)...anyway my brother sprayed the flea spray all over the bed matters...A day later he is telling me he cant breath properly....It got a lot worse...he moved out of the flat in to a new apartment....He went and took the same said bed with him to his new place....( I know, what an stupid thing to do....but it gets even more stupid.....)...He put the bed in to another bed room.....and we never heard a word about it again for 7yrs....BTW all our family have slept in this bed and none of us have felt a thing...) ...so we move on to about 2 yrs a go...He had a friend that came to his house, and they were talking about his back was hurting him and he needed to get a new matres This friend suggested to my brother"" why don't you bring the mattresses from the back bedroom and change mattresses ...So off they went upstairs and changed the mattress from the back bedroom to the front bedroom where my brother slept.....( now this tale takes a seriously sad turn of events)....After one night only my brother phoned me up and said..." I cant breath properly....my nose is bleeding!)..This toxic air from the can of flea spray was all around his house.....He suffered and has been so ill, but doctors are baffled to know what is wrong with him...my brother tells me the toxic air is killing him slowly...his mouth is raw and bleeding his lost loads of weight....He went to the doctor who examined him looked at his tongue and told my brother it is ok...its your tongue protecting its self???? the truth of the matter is he is slowly but surely dieing...He can not get the particles of this flea spray out of his house!! we have spent hundreds of Euros trying every thing we can to rid his home of this thing that we can not see,but is lethal. In hindsight he should have had a mask on at the time he sprayed the bed....I love my brother with all my heart he is a special loving hilariously funny loyal and honest man. WE just want to know what can we put into the rooms to get rid of this invisible evil toxic air and let my brother live his remaining years in peace and health. We have purchased air condensers and purifiers steam cleaners to spray in the air plants that are supposed to help the toxic air in the house....Nothing has worked....He wears a mask to go to bed...but he says its so uncomfortable he has to take it off as he is not able to breath properly...He told me that when he gets up in the morning he does not know where he is and he is all over the place stumbling he told me his mouth is full of black stuff and he has to clean his mouth out many times a day....there is so much more I could say but I understand he will most likely die and then my heart will break and I mean break....Luke ( my brothers name ) is 62 yrs old and I am 61 yrs old, we live in Ireland...we are both on Disability allowance so trying to get all these things that we hope will help him is very difficult for us....we can not walk to well our feet are sore.......Besides all of this I LOVE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY with all my heart mind and soul......I will be so very grateful for your help.....Mary X

You're using a rattle can ffs, that's not spray painting. You're not even in a booth. Stuff a couple of balls of tissue up your nostrils and you're good to go. Dear lord, talk about overkill and clickbait; here I am looking for booth spray rebreathers for full immersion in toxic environments and it's some silly girl with a rattle can. Edit: As an aside, brown stripes on half faces usually indicate biological agents, not solvents, are you sure you're using the right cartridges? Might be different where you're from, but here they're for the smallest particulates (i.e. infectious diseases, asbestos, etc) not spray paint. I mean it'll work, but it's overkill. Although all of this is overkill for rattle cans. As an aside it's cheaper to go HVLP for home use if you use more than a dozen rattle cans, and you get a WAY better finished product by far.
bashpr0mpt lol
bashpr0mpt Tissue up your nostrill only block some dust and particles, not harmful solvents, etc.
There’s organic compounds released in any type of paint including “rattle cans” that a dust mask or any other method cannot filter out and will enter and coat your lungs.
So how about instead of trying to be obstinate, you actually take proper precautions and protect your respiratory system.
