Good start to what looks like being a very interesting series.
I used to do this as a boy. The smell of those paints takes we right back there.
I like Humbrol products and use their enamels, varnishes, Maskol and so on. I don't have any problems except with their liquid poly...the needle keeps clogging. I can clear it by running a lit match underneath it until the hardened glue pops, and I always keep a piece of thin fuse wire inside it (and the cap in place) but the clogging continues.
The Hawker Hurricane had more kills than Spitfires in the Battle of Britain. Already in service by 1939, according to my Airfix 1:72 Hurricane instructions, it was the first single wing replacement for RAF biplanes!
Geoff, it's interesting to hear you say that the criticism levelled against Humbrol products [is] 'unjustified very largely'. That implies that Humbrol do recognise there are problems in some instances. If that's the case, then it's a positive because those problems can be researched and eliminated.
For instance, perhaps Humbrol could explain why on other Humbrol-based videos Decalfix is recommended to soak decals off their carrier paper (I forget who it was but he has a Midlands/Birmingham accent). I ruined a load of Airfix's 1/48 Sea Vixen decals by doing exactly as they recommended. Quite aside from the vast quantity of Decalfix that would be needed to soak off the decals (of course beneficial to Humbrol anyway), it simply did not work - even on Airfix's own decals. When being supplied a new set I went back to water and absolutely no problem.
Secondly, perhaps Humbrol could investigate why Decalfix can strip off Tamiya acrylics quicker than that. Thankfully I tried it on a scrap model before totally ruining the aforesaid Sea Vixen. Given that it's a decal fixing solution and therefore assumed to be used over paint, that should not be happening.
All that aside, I will be watching the new series of videos with interest, however, please remove the background music which, however soft, is very distracting to your narration which I do actually like.
Thanks.
I wonder why Humbrol never answer the questions here :( Although this is not really a question, but it is interesting the points you bring up here.
When I used decalfix over my tamiya paint, it did the same, there’s something in each that reacts and melts away the tamiya. Maybe it was designed that way...
I love British aircraft especially WWII. Hurricanes and Spitfires. I wanted to see about the Airfix Hurricane in 1/48 scale. It looks like a well made kit and I'll be buying one soon! TALLY-HO!!!
wow, Humbrol, welcome back )
Look forward to watching.
I do like the cutting mats - especially since they have feet scale measurements!
Just watched this. So, Humbrol 157 Azure blue listed for the model (which I have here) but Humbrol discontinued this colour....what were you guys thinking?
I'm having this problem myself at moment
@@nickjode1305 Airfix and Humbrol obviously aren't talking. I got some colourcoats enamel Azure blue. Worked fine.
ill use humbrol enamel paints but im sorry since using tamiya extra thin i will never go back to humbrol poly cement :(
hi, does humbrol still carry enamel paints in tin can?
Great informative videos Geoff. Do you work for or are you sponsored by Humbrol ?
I’m literally making a hawker hurricane
Humbrol has a CZcams channel? How did I not know?
Hi, do you need to wash the sprues first ?
It is a good idea too, as it removes any oil or grease (And mould reslease), left over form the moulding process.

I thought this was an advert from the shopping channel.
So you guys just drop new vid after few years without saying anything. Ok
Exactly
and it looking good for me )
Good god man, stop talking drivel and get on with it. 11 minutes and you still haven't glued 2 pieces together while you have said nothing of interest. If the series is going to be like this - and we know it will - then I am giving up now
Talk about a man just rambling on. So condescending.
Flogging a dead horse.. 40 years of model making, I'm only 50 products are poop and need updating and as for customer service .. take a leaf from China who took a leaf from Japan long time purchaser of airfix. Sorry no can do
So boring i fell asleep....waffle central
