  • Cannibal Corpse just released a single for their upcoming album, 'Chaos Horrific,' which will be their 16th full length release. The single is called "Blood Blind," and I tried my best to learn it as quickly as possible by ear. I listened to the song over and over again, and I played it in one take. I'm positive I got a few things wrong and messed up parts of the solo, but I wanted to share this as is: quick, raw, and excited to hear the rest of the album. One important thing to note is, I think the beginning riff has power chords and not tritones. I decided to go with the tritones, despite going against my gut feeling that Cannibal Corpse wouldn’t write a riff with tritones like this, because it sounded more in tune with them. Maybe that’s because my guitar wasn’t the best in tune or because I was listening to the root note. Regardless, I’m pretty sure it’s played with power chords. Enjoy!

Damn, you are fast to do this cover. Well done. And respect to learn this stuff by ear.

How you made this guitar tone alone is worth mentioning. True death metal tone! Great playing too!

@@kevinberstler If you'd like to know, the second riff is four hits of 1 (7th string) and 2 (6th string) with the fifth one being 0(7th) and 2(6th), repeat, and then repeat again but with just two hits on the 1(7th) 2(6th) instead of four. Of course, with the tremolo on the 2(6th) at the end of the phrase. When it restarts the tremolo part is now 2(6th) 1(7th) 2(6th) 2 bent (6th) 2(6th) 1(7th) 2(6th) 2 bent (6th). This tremolo part, when used to transition (both to get to the next riff and to come back to this one), becomes 2(6th) 1(7th) 2(6th) 3(5th) 7(5th) 3(5th) 2(6th) 3(5th). The third riff is mainly made of powerchords with the added octaves. The root of the first powerchord/octave is 1 fret of the 7th string, the second one is 0(7th), then seven palm-muted hits of 0(7th) and 2(6th) [so just the powerchord you ended up in], then 1 fret powerchord/octave, one hit back at the 02 powerchord, 1(7th) powerchord/octave again, but slided into the 4 fret powerchord/octave, one hit back at the 02 powerchord, and 1(7th) powerchord/octave slided into the 4 fret powerchord/octave again, and the riff restarts, the tremoloed notes in this third riffs are the same as in the second one. Hope it was clear enough, might not be 100% accurate but it definitely sounds more spot on. I only learned these two because I don't like the single at all tbh ahaha
