    Sesame seeds are an alternative source of calcium for those who are lactose intolerant. In addition, they are also rich in other essential nutrients such as iron, magnesium, and phosphorus. And with this quick recipe, they are also more attractive for kids and also some adults! Thanks for sharing!

    Okay, I made this today to relax after a very hectic work day. I don’t usually make candy, But this one intrigued me - toasted sesame seeds in a thin crispy brittle.
    This was a fun project with fantastic results. Honestly, this is a very nice sweet treat - the nuttiness of the toasted sesame seeds with the thin "crispy" brittle - not hard like a peanut brittle, just a nice thin "crisp" bite to it. I agree that it would make a nice topping on various sweet treats. Photos have been posted.

      @@AveryRaassen Big thumbs up for this recipe - everyone loved it at our Mother's Day dinner (Chinese "to-go" food) - even my mother!!!. I crushed some of the brittle to use as a topping for the various desserts after dinner. Some mentioned that it reminded them of the sesame candy from the Asian markets. 😍😍😍

    Hey. Are you in the uk? I noticed the tesco bags :-) loved your berry videos. Suggestion: elderberry is one of the best anti flu things there is (it contains neurominidase inbitors, and its the basis of much anti flu medication). You could make Sambucol for almost free. We make elderberry cordial. Cloves and sugar for anti microbial. But the cloves and berries make it like mulled wine. It’s a medicinal that drinks like log cabin retreats. Wish more people knew to make it. Wish you good :-)

      @@polkablondebeautychickadee8668 thin and uniform is good. As long as it is tasty, don't worry about and try again. I wouldn't melt it again as you could end up burning it in the process or it won't crytalize with a nice shine.

    I don't have liquid glucose, can I use Lyle's Golden Syrup? I have lots of sesame seeds. I love the "sexy" view of the brittle 😍 Oh, I will make this for our Mother's Day dinner on Saturday.

    • @AveryRaassen
      @AveryRaassen  Před rokem

      You can use Golden Syrup. Be careful when rolling and spreading the caramel.

      @@AveryRaassen I have a granite countertop that I can use with parchment paper - will that cool it too quickly? I also have a rolling pin with silicon ring guides for 1/8 and 1/16”

    • @AveryRaassen
      @AveryRaassen  Před rokem +1

      @@Jeepy2-LoveToBake The granite work top will cool it rather quickly. I would recommend rolling it out on a cutting board. If you aren't fussed about the thickness, then the granite work top will be just fine. In a case like that, I would either brush some water or oil on the worktop to allow the baking paper to "stick" so that when you roll or spread the caramel sesame the bottom paper doesn't move around. The rolling pin with silicone ring guides you have are perfect. Also, I forgot to mention, if you have any broken bits of caramel sesame crumbs, they go fantastic on some vanilla ice-cream as well or even on top of some black sesame ice-cream to pair with.
